i've never used 1-3 or any of the others but use overlays regularly. I've only started to cheat items by adding the shop mod so i can buy gourmet vouchers instead of farm them because I was running out of them for fatalis speedruns. Other than that, all my decos and items were achieved within the constraints of the game, including Rise talismen.

As a person who uses an overlay, i can indeed say it's cheating, but only if im host imo as a lot of the info camt display except health Hunterpie in mhw won't let you see part dmg info if you aren't host. But if you are. infinitely staggering a tempered kushala for jewel farming is the fastest way for jewels rather than teostra, easiest thing in the game, Knowing hp is very meh, it may certaintly make a differ for capturing, but the part dmg info if ur doing that, that knowledge is beyond powerful then. But part info Especially vs things like barrioth and tigrex where breaking them big ol hangs topple them

Im trying to really focus an elemental build for each element, but fitting in crit eye max , crit element and element exploit with attack boost is a challenge, but then i see this awsome run and big damage number's with NO ATTACK boost, im obviously doing somehting wrong. I think I’d swap 3 and 4. Knowing how close the monster is to being poisoned via overlays seems like less cheating than tweaking your cat’s AI to only play damage up. I don’t think overlays would be terribly harmful if I were to use them, “oh the monster is close to being staggered on its next hit. I can totally land this charged slash and stagger it mid-attack and it’ll look really cool.” seems like it wouldn’t hurt anyone’s fun. But still cheating. Those guys saying it’s not are reprobates.

So many people Refuse to accept Overlay is Cheating. you were never meant to KNOW the health pool of the monster. or the breakpoints. or the sleep points.

The overlay debate is stupid, it doesn't make you a better runner by just using an overlay, if that's cheating so are excel sheets and planning out your hunt. Because you get information the hunter otherwise wouldn't.

As a MHW: Icebrone enjoyer/mod player, although modding for the sake of your advantages is bad, I recommend people to actually first try all the monsters and then later you can add the mod that you wanted, this is because at least...for my experience, you need to feel the originality of the game itself...again we need to understand that cheats is an act of dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage (google). I am a humble level 7 cheater but I only use this in single-player...because I know it well as fact that it is unfair and unrightful to do such actions. The reason of why I play with mods in the first place is because this is how I enjoy the game and I will not be dismayed by any other people's opinions...Now i will be commenting on the levels of cheats I guess... Level 1. I dont rlly see this as a major issues so i wont say much... Level 2. This is where i got introduced to mods into MHW: Iceborne, ez moni ones will say but i will still do it legitimate until all monsters are hunted down.... Level 3. Never heard of it before but sounds busted...might wanna try Level 4. I m not a fan of overlays and shit although i use smarthunter (a type of overlay in Iceborne), i dont rlly recommend people to use it. (aso D. facts are true Overlays are still considers as cheats because you gain advantage of it...unfairly) Level 5. Affinity is not really a thing for me...i like gambling on affinity chances ahaha...(drop rates nah too broken...) Level 6. I use one-hit defender weapons mod early on but nowadays i use normal weapons cuz its fun... Level 7. Haha...u think u can tickle m bro ahh thinking for me...Ayo i m here yippi- Level 8. Guilty on lvl 2 and 4. Put about a casual 800 hours in MHW on the PS4, when playing on the PC I used lvl 2 to get the Items and gear I had on the PS4. Level 4 was neat when tracking progress on damage output when testing builds solo, all the other overlays like health bars for limbs and stuff is just too much clutter.

I have a very strong opinion when it comes to mods. Overlays is something I can overlook because I'm going to be real, it really never made a difference, just don't be that one guy that's talking about everyone's DPS. (I know people are going to come up with the argument of better calculation but for me personally I've never changed my play style even when I've seen the HP of a monster. To me the overlay is perfectly Fair. Especially when it comes to partbreaking because, I don't know about everyone else but I hate sitting on a monsters tail thinking it's going to come off and then it never does leaving me confused when I just sat there and hit the tail the entire time. (Yes I've had that happen before.)) ask for item cheating, this varies. For me when it comes to world's guiding lands I'm not going to sit there and farm the same monster multiple times for about 30+ hours just get enough materials to augment my stuff, because I don't find it fun to sit there and do the same fight over and over again (that even goes for monsters I enjoy like Yian Garuga), especially since everything in the guiding lands takes forever to kill (the same thing is said for sunbreaks anomaly system, which I hate even more with the exception of the risen elders). My main rule when it comes to cheating an items is, if you can't get set item within about 30+ hunts then I would say it's fair game. Within that same rule is you can't see anything in that you have yet to come across such as a monster you have yet to fight yet. And don't get me started on farming decorations in world... (I have legit was unable to kill Fatalis for so long, because I couldn't get the decorations I needed for my build... And I have well over 200 hours in the game.) but other than that I play fully legit.

Sadly, I really only trust runs on consoles... bit harder to cheat for now. I am guessing mods might leak from PC to consoles in Wilds, THAT I am not looking forward to. I say leak because I played in some Borderlands 3 games where some modded items were traded to consoles that worked. Like a guy and his "Thanos Snap" on Xbox that was just killing everything on the map instantly with a flash.

Overlay is not that bad, just removes the annoying need to know when a Monster is trampable or not

I don’t play for speedruns so idk if it actually matters, but isn’t it okay to mod in certain conditions like drunk bird / lowest possible hp - small crown / thunder beetles / etc? I feel like anything that’s going to make you reset the run immediately is fine to set up for yourself

Every thing in 10 id be fine with as long as no one uses it in like a online hunt cause it's funny
