To be fair, the vaccine for Malaria was conceived in the 1960s, formulated in the 90s, and then tested till 2016. Yes, it didnt get rolled out till later. As for what humanity had before that, the Malaria prophylaxis are basically the pills you take on a regular basis. So the continual pill use is actually pretty accurate.

18:38 for somebody with pseudo-eidetic memory, I loved pulling up my map to track my bearings. Pull it up to track myself along the path, and then pay attention to my surroundings to reinforce my observations of the map. For example, "Okay, my destination is after the next fork in the road. I'm going to enjoy the driving animations until I see that fork." Aaaaaaaaaand mercenaries intercept me on the way to my objective and I dispose of them. I love this game.😅

There's a mod that removes your location on the paper map (not the GPS), so you use both to navigate the map, I wish the GPS had a compass tho or it was locked to the north with the mod

I rented thus game by mistake. That mistake cost me so much. I became so invested in my crew, and I defended that house with my companions until I saw all of them lying on the ground without the prompt to revive them. And then the cutscene played of me being transported to the desert. I look in my pause menu to see the status of my comrades. "MIA," or "???," was under all their names. I died in that desert.

all of the buddies you meets scripted to died or show up later as enemies, sadly the buddies system pretty underbaked, you not gain much by invested in them and doesn't losses anything except maybe the rescue feature, then again you saved before firefight and reload the savefile of thing gone south.

The answer is Far Cry, and there were no other Far Cries created after that. Far Cry 2 and beyond shits on its predecessors game design and legacy and therefore does not deserve to be called far cry. The first Crysis is a truer sequel than any far cry.

Wow when i finished far cry 3 all i found nothing outstanding about the game and the story just ruined the experience from like below average shooter game to even worse. Jason doesn't make sense to me. The whole story he is motivated to help the tribe people and avenge his friends by killing the pirates, so when at the end of the game the game asks me whether i want to kill all my friends or not, the question is just ridiculous in the first place. The fact the game forces you to dump your girlfriend and tell your friends you are staying on the island for some greater purpose of "i want kill all pirate and f with tribe lady" was just as stupid. The game could have been fine if the story was based of player choices, or the exploration was rewarding at all and not just checking out boxes on a map or if it was just completely focused on mindless shooting and had nothing else going for it but that just wasn't the case and it is beyond me how the game is considered good by the audience, or the protagonists is beyond mediocre in anyone's mind. At least Vaas was written really well, but that is the only thing the game had going for it. Also what game changes the difficulty when you keep dying? Ridiculous. But hey feel free to explain to me how the game didn't suck.

There is a piece of lore from FC2 that somewhat connects to this: Jackal's Tape 00 - Infamy. Which tells of losing oneself to the combat and killing.

Almost no HUD, gunplay with weapon fatigue, starting point in a middle of local war, heavy feeling of be dead easily and many more make FC2 one of most immersive game of mid 2000's. Game was quiet impressive then and now it's still great title

2 is still my favorite overall. The character development of 3 is amazing, and I definitely played the shit out of it, but I really enjoyed the entirely grounded setting of 2. Everything after 3 is just copy paste crap, and 6 is outright shit. I played 6 for about 15 minutes and saw that the makarov somehow does more damage than an FAL and turned it off, uninstalled, never touched it again.

I was def in the camp that didnt like Far Cry 2. I wouldnt say it was terrible, it had some interesting ideas. For me the biggest issue was it felt like they went and inserted a bunch of elements from SURVIVAL games into an FPS game. I dont want to have to unjam my gun all the time, I dont want to randomly have to take pills because I have a disease, and I HATED the checkpoints that always respawned and could never run away from. I loved Far Cry 1 and it felt like the game was saying "here is this new take on that game you liked but we added a bunch of shit to it to reduce the fun factor." I also didnt like the story. Like no dude I dont want to keep blowing up water supplies for orphanages or burning villagers crops then kill myself at the end of the game.

I'm sorry but I could not get through the video. I see you're successful and that a lot of people enjoyed the video, but I thought I'd give my 2 cents. It was extremely difficult watching this video because you were dragging on sections that were completely irrelevant to your point. Talking about the 2008 recession made me absolutely bored and almost drove me insane, but I decided to push through with watching the video. Unfortunately, I stopped at the 10 minute mark roughly once you side tracked completely and started talking about how Dennis encourages you to do side quests and how that makes the player enjoy the game rather than save "boring" friends. I'm sorry but I just hate where video essays are going nowadays and they all seem to drag on (probably for the youtube ad revenue) irrelevant topics and opinions. I respect your channel and you as a content creator, but this video was just all over the place, and my jaw dropped when I saw it was 38 minutes long.

I love how he after Keith tells him he saw Riley get shot, Jason becomes so blinded by rage and vengeance he distances himself from his friends and even starts to lust after Citra and move away from his Liza. He tells his friends he’s staying on the island Jason believes that the main thing that kept him innocent is gone and believes his purpose to set the island free and become a warrior. That is until he finds out Riley is alive and despite this revelation, he is forced to maintain his cover and torture his own brother. Jason then realizes how far he’s gone and in the end, the player chooses whether or not the island has consumed him. However

It's a game that is fun, but it has an ending that some might not want to think about since it's an uncomfortable truth. I think the visuals of foreign mercenaries fighting, on the behalf and by invitation of a local warlord is a perfect setting where nothing is good/evil. Going from fighting to the serene beauty of Africa's bush villages, the hidden fortresses which were constructed thousands of years ago and still proving their worth by hosting warlords and their parties. It's a very cool thing I've only seen done well in this game. Farcry 5 did get close this, but Farcry 2 just does it so well. The downtime in this game is what makes it so great.

one major thing about far cry 3s story is: it is simple. it does not need a myriad of characters that then all get to few screen time. the characters are not equiped with a ton of flaws and back story. and the story does not hold a lot of plot lines and twists. far cry 3 tells you just enough to make everything click without narration getting in the way of gameplay. and that's what makes it great.

I actually played the game again half a year ago, and honestly? it still holds up. Sure, the controls are wonky, and it lacks some modern QoL features, but the atmosphere simply cannot be matched by anything that came out since. It's probably the most immersive pure FPS game ever made.

He is just some random dude on vacation, with no military background or anything, who happens to land on the island, gets kidnapped, escapes and now suddenly he is the chosen one that every just expects to go kill literally every pirate on the island. First instinct should be to call the police but no, he got a cool tattoo so now hes ready to kill bunch of people.

Always enjoy hearing other perspectives about this game. I don't use vehicles in open world games unless operating them is fun or a mission requires it. You miss details in game worlds when driving rather than walking, just like you miss details IRL when driving rather than walking. Because I rarely drove, the re-spawning enemies at outposts wasn't much of an issue for me because I would just walk around them. When I did clear one out, I would have appreciated if the game gave me more time before enemies returned, but that wasn't a big deal for me due to my play style. I get why it annoyed others though.

I never felt the characters were shallow or not deep. It never occurred to me. Jason also never bothered me. Far Cry 3 is a very special game. I only wish the islands were double as large and had Far Cry 4's weapons roaster. Which is still the best one of all Far Crys.
