How to Remove Stuck Brass Cases From A Resizing Die - Easy Quick Method
I use 2200 for performance bullets for hunting deer!
How many times can you reload a brass shell ?
Is it necessary to use the pocket uniformer after taking out the crimp?
I had read somewhere that a bunch had been rebarreled to 6.5x55. Said conversion did not require lengthening the magazine box and cutting out a smal semi-circle of the receiver ring to accommodate the longer .30-06 cartridge.
Well explained die setup. I was setting up the crimping only slightly wrong, but enough to cause rejections using my RCBS Case Gauge. Now, I am having near zero failures.
Love it!! 👍🏻
You lost a setscrew off the locking nut
Yup nothing we haven’t discussed previously. 👍🏻
Nicely done 👍🏻👍🏻
The shoulder based trimmers won't work for pistol cases or straight wall rifle cases. So you would need two trimming systems. The Lee system works for all of them.
After looking at your colander sifter. Id recommend getting a Garrett gold pan kit for like $10-15.
150gr 7.62x39! Awesome 👌
Sub
Unwatchable volume level unfortunately
@bassjunki - it levels off after the intro. Purchased new gear for future vids. Sorry!
Interesting, the VihtaVuori website shows that their min charge for a 123 grains bullet using N120 is 23.6 grains and max one 26.5 grains, it's the one that I'm using and they average ~2406 FPS from my rifle with no sign of over-pressure. Maybe Hornady is being very conservative?
Outstanding
Nice job Buddy
Doesnt seem cost so effective to reload after all the stuff you have to buy to do it is crazy Ty!
The knowledge you have about bullets is fascinating
@661_RACING - appreciate the comment! 👍🏻
I’ve been reloading now on and off for about three years and always wondered where the dimples on my 223 brass neck were coming from and you answered my question!
@BradleY97 - yeah it used to drive me nuts until I figured it out. They will blow out nicely. I think the most irritating thing was that the dimples would catch as they fed into the chamber. Glad this video helped! Happy reloading! 👍🏻
fdjt!
Hello there - I found out I have a Franklin Arsenal tumbler with media, polish, etc., that came with my Dillon 550C. In your professional opinion, how many times can you / do you re-use media before tossing it away? Appreciate you putting this together. It is helpful, you got another sub! I see below the question was asked previously below, in case someone asks after me. Great question/answer below. Very collaborative forum.
@theociba3762 - I use my media until it turns blackish or it takes a long time to just knock off the particulates. I fall victim to the shiny brass syndrome even though shiny brass doesn’t make the projectiles go faster. 😂 you can “recharge” your media with Nu Finish car polish or any of the media recharges you find at your local store or online. I also use, used dryer sheets to help remove some of the grime out of the media as well. My father-in-law uses the same media basically all year long. Some folks use lizard bedding, rice, etc. the main take away is that you want your brass free from debris and not have any chemicals on it that can corrode it. If you need shiny brass, you’ll need to replace and/or recharge your media frequently. Dry sheets are optional but in my opinion help with reduction of particulates. I’ve had others email me saying that the comment section is a great place to share info so I encourage people to ask questions and reply and reply back to others with their experience. I certainly do not know everything and have learned many new ways of doing things by interacting with all the viewers. Hope this helps! 👍🏻
I love reloading i reload all my rifle including my 9mm i dont know how to reload a 12 i have a hornady reloader but i dont know how
@SandraFreeze - that’s awesome! I’m guessing you meant 12g reloading? I haven’t started that series yet. I’m backlogged with everything I need to cover with regular reloading at this time. 😂👍🏻 I’ll get to it in the future though.
This was such a blessing to find compared to the hundreds of others that do nothing but promote their own products, or sponsored products and take 3x longer to get to the point. I am going through your channel. Hope to find a 223/556 and a 308 reloading video now.
@ThGrtCanadian - thanks for the positive feedback. I try to keep things quick and to the point for the very reasons you stated. I, like some other reloaders, are a bit impatient and just want to get to the point and quit the jaw jacking and lay off the heavy metal music. 😂 I’m trying to streamline my videos to “bare bones” in order to help meet the request of my viewers. Thanks for the feedback! I’m trying to make this as easy and straight forward as I can. 👍🏻
Nice video. Just shared it to a buddy that has just started hand loading. You explained better than I could. May I ask where did you get those accessories for your RCBS rock chucker? In Line Fabrication?
@VincitOmniaVeritas7 - appreciate the comment! Thanks for sharing the video! Yessir, InLine Fabrication! They make high quality stuff. Check out this video! 👍🏻 ua-cam.com/video/2e-brQAwTyk/v-deo.htmlsi=L5jh835FAoYIYHC7
As other people have said previously, this is a great video for beginners, more video's like this are sorely needed.
@swanseajaffa - appreciate the comment! 👍🏻
You, sir, saved my day! I had one stuck and couldn’t get it out. I was rolling along, reforming without any lube, and then it happened. I should have known better, but I’ve learned my lesson... twice already, lol. Anyway, I tapped a 1/4"-20 and extracted it almost effortlessly. Thanks again!
@vinago100 - glad it worked out for you! 👍🏻
Do you organize it so you can do a bigger batch in a shorter amount of time? Or does it have to be a one-at-a-time process? And how many can you get done in, say, a couple hours? Thanks!
@johnmontana8540 - I go through a lot of .223/5.56 so I have what I call an assembly line. I use big containers and label them, clean, cleaned and resized, cleaned resized ready to reload, etc. it’s a great system if I have an hour or so I can grab the “ready to be primed” container and hand prime them while watching tv or what have you. I usually have a couple of five gallon buckets full that always need cleaning so I just dump them in when I know I’ll be around a few hours and keep an eye on them. I’ve always have something going on in the background keeping me busy. Personal organization is not something I typically try to teach others since everyone has their own method of madness. I have a system that works for me that I’m continually improving to save time, energy, and money (if possible). I really should make a video of how I do it. I just figure people figure out their own way with the space they have. Great question! 👍🏻
@ thank you for the detailed response! I’m just now starting to look into it so I want to have a strategy before I start buying things and throwing them on the bench lol. Have a good one thanks again!
Thanks!
Lol your OAL will be all over the place as not every bullet is the exact same length. You really need to use the bullets ogive as a reference in regards to your measuring point.👍 If using the hornady bullet comparator with inserts in addition to your digital caliper’s you would be better well served. Great video quality and appreciate your efforts to educate those just starting out.
@goldenkangaroo4969 - sounds like you’re the expert in this department. Please elaborate more on your claim. Being that all of my reloads have the same OAL using this method. Perhaps you can explain to the viewers why my OAL is exactly the same and you suggest that it will be all over the place? I’m sure the viewers would LOVE to know what you’re doing differently. I’m guessing what you’re referring to is the CBOT and not the OAL? I don’t want to assume anything but your post is a bit confusing. Thanks for your expert opinion! 👍🏻
Thanks for posting this!
@observer4322 - 👍🏻
Little Gun.. you made my day!! Thank You 😊
I’m straight soooo…
@TJWilly7764 - 😳
Seems easy enough to use. I just got into reloading, still gathering supplies and learning. I'll need to get this as well, planning on reloading several more years.
@jimmyslim1628 - awesome! Welcome to the world of reloading! 👍🏻
@@k2defense thank you. 👍
Where can I get that mag?
@MarkusNoel - typhoondefense.com/magazines
Hey just getting started do you crimp your 223? or you just crimp it to have no difference with 556 rds?
@bored6839 - if there are no reloading specifications to crimp your .223/5.56, I do. Just a like crimp. This will reduce ramp feed issues and projectile movement. Hope this helps! 👍🏻
I have the same setup for 556 to 300Blk. With my Dillon press I was having issues resizing the case. It was jamming in the die. The anealed part of a case is the neck and is cut off when we convert it. I found that anealing it before resizing works better. I anealed it a second time after resizing because resizing rehardens it causing the mouth of the case to be smaller. Doing a second aneal makes the bullet easier to set into the case not to mention keeps the neck flexible as it should be.
@Gundog55 - thanks for sharing this! Appreciate your comment! 👍🏻
Thank you! Just got a small base FL and seating / crimper die set for 6.5 Grendel and with your instructions I could move on to the seating and crimping cannelure bullets!
@mackerelvelli - glad this was helpful! Appreciate your comment! 👍🏻
Wow! You made this so easy to follow and understand that I feel like I can do this now. I swear this all seemed so overwhelming at first. Thank you for making this a straight forward and easy to grasp.
Glad you found this video helpful! 👍🏻 thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the info.. I have a question maybe you could answer. My local sporting goods store sells recycled 7.62 nato head stamped brass in a package labeled .308Win. Can I load the 7.62 brass to .308 loads ?
@josephiacovelli5395 - I’m looking at the Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading 11th Edition pg 515. Check it out as I cannot provide reloading data. 👍🏻 Hope this helps!
Thank you for the informative video!
@scottjohson3226 - glad you found it helpful! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
i notice you do not mention letting the lube dry. Is this not a necessary step before resizing? Ive not reloaded rifle ammo yet so wanting to get it right.
@Wccops61 - you should lube your bottle neck cases. I prefer to lube the lower third of the case. I do not lube the shoulders because of dimpling of the shoulders. Rather, I use spray lube for the case mouth to help with the squeaking and not marring up the die. Use as little as possible! You will have a higher chance of stuck cases if you don’t lube the lower third of the case. Does this help and make sense? I want to make sure you’re good to go. Let me know if you run into any issues. Been there done that with bottle neck cases. 👍🏻
@@k2defense Yes agree, my concern was lubing with a pad I was told i needed to lube all the cases and then let them dry before depriming /sizing them
@Wccops61 - if you wait to deprime them until after the lube dries, you’ll for sure have stuck cases. Does this help answer your concern?
@ yessir that answers that. Appreciate the response !
@Wccops61 - 👍🏻
I believe the correct term is "flaring" the case mouth!
@clifchilders5820 - yessir, you are correct! Keeping me honest with the viewers! I appreciate that! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
After making an adjustment to powder measure, I like to dump the first one and weigh the second. I've found it's more consistent and you know 100% what your putting in the brass
@garageliving3658 - that’s awesome! I’ll have to try it out! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
The lesson I learned is to never do this myself because that process looks brutal
@saleen12 - for me it is therapeutic. I love trying to figure something out and trying to perfect it. There’s always something to learn. When I hear someone say, “I’ve been reloading 50 years” I think to myself, yup, you’re still learning. It’s a deep rabbit hole for sure! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
I shoot mostly cast bullets and prefer to seat the bullets first then crimp. Otherwise the crimp is simultaniously closing the case as the bullet is being seated and some shaving of lead does happen. Seperste the processes and the problem goes away
@blackout7615 - that’s a good point. I shoot a fair amount of cast projectiles myself. It certainly is an art to be able to seat and crimp at the same time. Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
i watched the first 30 seconds of you bitching about youtube and had to pause to leave, if its really that big of a deal direct people to your own website and get ads there. otherwise eat a dick and stop crying that youre not getting free money off people watching a zero effort, zero production value tutorial. trust me there is someone else making a video on the same thing that i can watch that isnt whining right off the bat
Hi there ! How many reloads can you do with the hornet case?
@jonkayak5307 - so, there are many variable to consider when answering this question. If you want the short answer 2-3 reloads. The brass is super thin mainly causing case head separation. I use a compressed load when reloading my cases. I’d post my recipe but my channel would be taken down and shut off. I plan on two reloads per case. I don’t like having to go through the process of removing the stuck case in the chamber. I’ve mutilated one rifle doing this so I avoid having this happen again. Sorry for the long answer to a short question. Hope this helps! 👍🏻
I've never reloaded before and this video is super helpful. Thank you so much
@David-if4vj - I’m glad you found this video helpful! Make sure to take a look at the rest of the videos on this channel! 👍🏻
@k2defense already did 😎 now I just have to pick up some reloading equipment
Awesome! 👍🏻
Well.. my grandfather used to reload his hunting rounds.. I have never done it myself.. the reason I'm checking this video out is I've had a cowboy colt my grandpa gave me, 40 years ago. Well I've also only fired it about twelve times. I got it out the other day and it's still perfect. Well needless to say I checked into ammo and oh gawdamn has ammo gone up.. ok I'm going to buy ten boxes of ammo but I want to be able to reload my casings. One question I have.. how many times can you reload the 45 long? And what's the best ones for reloading. Lol I guess that was two questions.. thank you for your very well done video..
@rusty1898 - I don’t go crazy when reloading this caliber. I’m midrange loads when I use cast projectiles. I’m using the same cases that I’ve had for years. Straight wall cases do not “stretch” as much as bottle neck cases. So you’ll get many more reloads. Most any brass you can find in the stores preloaded will last a long time. They are not well sought after like 9mm. The 9mm is more common so the will use other than brass for their cheap ammo. Some of it you can’t even reload. In short, your brass cases should last many times and secondly the preloaded ammo from the store should last you a long time. Like I said earlier, I’ve been reusing my brass for a long time. But I do not commonly use this round when going to the range. You’ll be happy with the reloads as well. One of the easier rounds to reload. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions! 👍🏻
@k2defense thank you brother.. I sure appreciate that info. Be well friend
@rusty1898 - yessir! You too! Happy to help! 👍🏻
I've had no "high primers" since I deprimed before cleaning.
@johnwax9759 - that’s awesome! Thanks for the comment! 👍🏻
