Hi Jack, yes I have a few of the small #00 Comet spinners that I in the small streams from time to time, the Aglia blade works well (as do the Bug spinners) for me when fishing the fast flowing runs due to the larger blade rotating at a wider angle than the narrow Comet & Black Fury blades. Like I say to a lot of spin fishers here in Tassie, stick with what you catch fish on & are happy with, at times I have to regularly chop & change lures when the the trout are fussy. Eventually one lure will get them on the take, many times during a spin session trout will take one the lure. Tight lines Jack, Cheers Adrian (meppstas)

Hi Tony, it wasn't a bad trip overall with quite a few (8 all up) trout caught during the time I spent in the small stream, I really love fishing the small streams because they are so peaceful and I often come across a Platypus from time to time as well which makes my day even better..Always good to hear from you mate, take care & stay in good health.👍👍 Cheers Adrian

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions, I've seen plenty of trout caught on a fly that have had mouth, gill damage & poorly handled, as for spin fishing for trout as being skill less I don't agree with that at all. Many of the rivers/streams that I fish have a lot of tight waters where accuracy is a must & all my trout are released for another day. Also one still has to find the right inline spinner that will get a trout to take it, just like the fly fisher has to select the right fly on the day. For me it's not just casting a lure into a river/stream and reeling it in, it's also knowing how to read a river and know where the trout are. So I don't really care what spin fishers are called in Scotland by the fly fisher's or anywhere else. 👍 cheers Adrian

@@adrianwebb7399 I understand your defensive take on this and I do not mean to offend but I was a spinner once and you do not know what you are missing - you read the river the hatch and conditions with a fly and NO-ONE can defend treble hooks and the weight of metal bashing into fly sippers mouths its a no contest fly hooks are way kinder. Spinning for trout imo should be banned. In Scotland it is.

@@scottthefunkRedPill So what you're actually saying is that the rivers/streams & lakes should be for the fly fisher's only and that's it. Sorry but we have enough fly fishers water only here in Tasmania, it will never be banned here anyway as the Inland Fisheries would go broke.. anyway, we've both had our say and our opinions are different, but that's life.

@@adrianwebb7399 Fair play my comments refer to the UK - I respect your position there and I know us fly fisherman seem a little aloof plz try it if you haven't the fight is amazing. I once upon a time used night lines never mind spinners I am 57yrs old and I am surrounded by spinners who have never tried fly because they do not want to learn lol Good luck and tight lines have a good day too.

@@scottthefunkRedPill No worries mate, I did try fly fishing way back in the 1960's in South Australia but couldn't afford to go on with it so went to the Mepps spinners, I'm not all that far off 79 years of age now & have five damaged discs in my lower back & not sure how much longer I can continue to fish the rivers. Our trout season opened back on the 3rd August and I am yet to wet a line due to the lower back pain. Good day Allan, it's certainly a great spot to fish, it's a stretch of river that normally fishes a lot better than it did on this trip, too many hooked & lost fish didn't help either. Glad you enjoyed the video as well mate, take care & stay safe chasing those Bass etc.. Cheers Adrian

Hi Tony, it did turn out to be a reasonable good spin session, very tough on the body but well worth the effort even though I hooked & lost way too many fish, but that's fast water isn't it. Hi Tony, yes, the Mepps inline spinners certainly work well on the trout & a variety of other fish species that's for sure. I started using them back in the mid 1960's (in South Australia) and have used them ever since, they have served me well over the past 60 years. Thanks Allan, this trip was a little better than the last one, river level was a little high & fast for my liking, still good to get onto a few trout before the body tired on me. These fastwaters take a toll on the body the longer I'm in them, the effort can be very rewarding, so it's well worth the effort most of the time Allan. Hi Mick, good to hear from you, yes the fast water is where I love to chase the trout, very hard on the body that's for sure especially with five discs in my lower back being in a very poor state. Yes, it's an area that runs hot & cold on the trout too, as for the army worms they are still around, we've even been hit with them here in Sheffield, thankfully not in real large numbers so far. cheers Adrian
