Scott Joplin escribió este Waltz después de la inesperada muerte de su esposa en 1904, murió tan solo después de 2 meses de que se casaron; lo que deprimió mucho a Scott, ya que incluso también él se encontraba en una crisis económica por ese entomces; y pues imagínate todo eso junto, que se te muera tu esposa y en plena crisis económica.
