Great work all round and in tight spaces all-round. Back in the day I recall a Austin Maxi 1750 transplant was all the rage.
Great work cal 👏
What cable set did you use?
@riktanius just off Ebay you search throttle cable universal etc ..
Jesus. Is that how hard it is to get to the battery? If I want to jump start it, I need to do all that shit?
i will just stick with male + female flares... or are we not allowed to say that these days... some of those compensator valves are gravity conscious, did you mount it in the same orientation
@paulriggers1558 yeh same orientation as standard just moved to nearside
Well done cal😊
I like the bench testing methods, much less annoying than attempting a fix then putting it back on just to discover it is still leaking!
Hi mate did this work in the end?
@TXS_SLG hi there yes it did for awhile but then it developed another leak so I just replaced the whole unit
@@callytech.d2r813 Mine seems to be leaking a clear greasy material onto the top of the box, presuming its disel
Flailing hands and camera leaping around - please correct!
open up the slats on the inner wing ? the original rad was bolted to the engine to stop engine movement snapping the rad outlets, have you enough flex in your system for a body-mounted rad ? excellent progress young man
Hopefully the connections are rubber hoses, the rad does not touch the engine and I may install rubber mounts yet
Some sort of rubber bushes on the rad brackets what do you think 😊
Yeh not bad idea pops
Bang on cal😊
Grazie al tuo video ho avuto il coraggio di fare lo stesso lavoro sulla mia golf. Ti ringrazio. È andato tutto bene.❤
1:58 No, not ok. Carb 3 butterfly is adjusted with idle screw. To begin with - we should have number 3 butterfly closed and all other opened slightly and then we can begin syncing. Imagine number 4 being opened far less than number 3 - then your idle screw adjuster would not even make contact with the throttle bracket. The correct way on this bike is to make sure number 3 is opened just a little bit and number 1,2 and 4 opened slighlty more. This would be perfect starting point. Then - you sync number 4 to number 3. Next step - adjust number 1 with number 2. The last part is sycing PAIR of 1&2 with PAIR of 3&4. If it's done differently - your readings would jump all over the place. Cheers!
Always better when it bends to the left 😂
I'm try this on a 98
can you not mount the bobbin to the upper side of the subframe, then drop it under using a "U" shaped bracket lying on it's side ?
Yeh while doing my research I found that the subframe of a mini this year should of had exactly that a u bracket to the frame with a bobbin. My subframe does not suggest the subframe was changed at somepoint. I did not want to cut off the mount it has
Brilliant cal😊
Hows it bro i habe a 95 cbr f3 not getting spark an had no ignition would you have a clue what i should try
@AmaiahMilner-harrison if you getting no ignition lights with the switch on check the switch, you getting no spark but tries to start check you coils, leads and plugs hope that helps
@@callytech.d2r813 there's near new coil an leads
Stirling effort. Well done.
I used a mini gaiter on top, was a pain making the rod go in the correct places without knocking... with the gearstick mounted more centrally you may have more difficulty routing the exhaust past.
Yeah agreed the exhaust will be a challenge, especially as am going to 2" but let's see
looks good the weak link in the system is that knuckle joint, they used to love seizing up. boil up some engine oil + leave it dipped in over the weekend
Great work cal well done
I ended up putting my fuel filter on the rear subframe, the engine bay was starting to get crowded. There's a roll over valve connects to the breather at the top of the mini tank, I think I used the spi one but micra should also have one. Do you need to do emmisions stuff / install a carbon canister if so I think you'll need a 3rd breather to the front.
@arrindaley3714 thanks in regards roll over valve I will look into it.
fckin 'ell look at those axle stands... oh, he's a biker, nowt the matter really then...
nissan tech here, those engines were indestructible, good choice...
@paulriggers1558 thanks appreciate the comment
Excellent cal
Great video...I have my own 2003 ASZ since 2008 and it's been through a lot but I still can't let it die!! Went over a speed bump a little too fast and grounded the engine. Possibly due to the fact (that I only noticed when someone pointed it out to me afterwards) that the car is slightly lowered on one side - so think I've had a broken spring all along. Sump pan replacement looks very straightforward (hopefully that's all that's required), thanks.
Well done cal brilliant work
First
I have same problem with my polo tdi.Diesel leaks in first start from tandem vacuum pump then it stops .My question is it dangerous to drive like that?
@gokhandemir44 I suggest you get it fixed ASAP but if the car runs OK it can't be a significant leak.
@@callytech.d2r813 Thx for your answer.Yes car runs without acceleration or brake system problem. And what I see after engine gets 90 degrees this leak stops.
Could you do a close up of where exactly the adjustment screws are please? Thanks
Hi there sorry I have since sold the bike, fully functioning I may add. They are in center of each carb just under the throttle plate. You may have one that is plugged from the factory these plugs need to removed so u can adjust.
@@callytech.d2r813 thanks I'll give it a go soon
Thanks, great video. Does this issue throw any DTC?
It did not for me but I could imagine if thr leak was really bad it would be flags by the fuel pressure sensor
Cumpăr
I don't think you can get around fully disassembling the bank of carbs if the bike has seen storage with fuel in the carbs. Those little idle circuits gum up even a bit and the idle is ruined and you will even see some hanging/floating of revs when you rev it. Separate each carb from the bank, remove the parts in the float bowl (needles, jets), remove the CV boots and slide, anything rubber, then soak the carb body in one of those gallon paint type cans of carb cleaner with the little metal cleaning basket in it. It says on can how long to soak it on the can (40minutes?). The cleaner will eat anything rubber or plastic, along with fuel residue. Reassemble and set everything to stock, maybe an 1/8 turn richer idle, then it will idle great.
Hey have you a part num please for the starter please
Hi, I had the same issue on my F4. Everything went well until the setting of the pilot screws. I have the same pilot screw adjustment tool as you have. No matter what I tried i found it impossible to get access and make any adjustment to carb 3. The setting for the F4 was even more complicated than the F3, i.e. set to highest RMP the turn pilot screw to drop 50 rpm, turn out pilot screw 3/4 turns. I gave up in the end and set all to standard 3 turns. Will probably have another try when my blood pressure returns to normal. Great series of videos. Cheers.
Was yours leaking oil or diesel?
Diesel, no oil
My cbr 600 shuts off at idle at every red light while at normal running temperature. I changed the spark plug and new oil but same problem. Any suggestion?
Sounds like a vacuum leak to me mate, check all the vacuum lines In around the carbs and airbox
@@callytech.d2r813 thank you buddy I'll check it out and let you know
Please do a series. I have a Bora 1.9 pd130 and the videos are a great help. Thanks
Hows it looking now and did you use primer or just thr enamel sprsy dojng this soon myself less work the better 😂
This looks great - I'm doing a very similar job at the moment. Could you tell me what products you used for degreasing, top coat and clear coat? Did you use rattle cans or a compressor? Thank you!
Thanks for this. Got the same Bora, colour as well.
Can i contact you about my pd130 having trouble with it
What problems are you having?
@@callytech.d2r813 well i have the car now for 7 months.it drove fine and started every morning i had to replace 1 glowplug . I Am a car mechanic but never we touch a 1.9tdi 98% we work on gasoline cars so you know😆 I was driving and all of the sudden it just went in limpmode or so? Beqause the car felt shocking and it didnt wantted to run so it died with a blinking glowplug light😕 I deleted everything treu obd and it had power again WITH the blinking glowpluglight! BUT after a few Miles it died again and it didnt wanted to start again. Tried the next day Leaving to work Beqause 1 car and it didnt go far till it died again and then it was barely starting, en then NO START anymore… there were no crazy engine sounds oh and the dieselpump in the tank sometime when yiu turn the key you heare it slurping and not its 50/50 with slurping also no start i dont knoe it anymore relay 109 clicks glowplug tested all good. I did the mass from the dynamo to under the battery and go on i hope you can help me
Thanks for doing this video Cally. I replaced the cam on my engine a few months ago and didn't replace the gasket, so now have to go back and tidy that up. I know which gasket set to get. Cheers.
Hi Can bad tandem pump cause bad engine start?
Yes for sure it is needed to help get fuel to the Injectors
@@callytech.d2r813 i dont even have any fault codes i have trouble only with start after start no bad idle or bad vibration everything works fine
My bike has some “bogging” issues any gear after 3d and any rpm after 6k it just falls on its face. Power is smooth as long as you’re under 3d gear, and under 60mph. Thinking it’s maybe there fuel pump relay? The previous own jumped it/bypassed it. Any idea ?
Hi there if there bogging at 6k rpm plus u be on ur needle jet range, sounds like u need more or less fuel. Has the bike been modified? If yes sounds like u need shim ur needle jet to get more fuel. Assuming you bike is a carby like mine
@@callytech.d2r813 yes the bike is carborated, it hasn’t been modified. Iv actually traced down the problem (hopefully) I believe it’s either a bad fuel pump or bad fuel pump relay. Apparently the bike is gravity fed gas until you hit a certain speed or rpm is only when the fuel pump kicks on and calls for more gas. My theory is, it’s needing more gas but doesn’t get it so it just falls on its face when it gets to that point. But if that isn’t the issue I’ll check the positioning needle and go through the carbs
Where did you get the seals from please?
Darkside developments
Excellent cal
My cbr600 fx idle is awful, bike only donr 7k, fully stripped carbs n cleaned, then rebalanced using carb tune, still awful!
You changed the carb boots? Try spraying carb cleaner down around them and see if idle changes, I had old carbs boots leak, new carb boots leak it's only when I got genuine oem Honda items did it not have a vac leak
@@callytech.d2r813vacuum leak is a good one because even a pinhole throws it off.
