Im 13 and i surfed this swell last winter. Gnarliest ever

This is so cool and fascinating I mean who dosent love the beach!

Not one of those surfers, knows how to truly, treat a wave. Generate speed, cutback, off the lip, stay in the pocket. TRAGIC! Ventucky used to be FILLED with great surfers, that came out of the woodwork in a decent swell. That is NOT a 50 year storm. Jan.-Feb 83. Were storms. Surf running 20-30 feet. THAT was what separated the Men from the Boys.

Easy to get your own wave at that size. Been there, done that. Just need a little longer board to catch them.

Not the biggest. Winter 95 had swells about the same size and I think that might have been the last time they tried to rebuild the Ventura Pier after the surf knocked it down?

I’m 68 years old and surfed Ventura county, Silver Strand, Ventura Fairgrounds, Solimar Beach and Pt. Mugu. Last time I surfed was in 1984 on the Central Coast. Too old to surf but it’s still in my blood. Silver Strand locals were badass.

I surfed trestles when i was a kid (75 now 😂) luckily my dad was navy officer assigned at Camp Pendleton....ergo officer sticker on front bumper. Very fun waves. Surfed the 'bu once....really small n slow. Also tamarack street in carlsbad, where i continue to live. Swami's and cardiff reef too. Rode motorcycles for c. 20 yrs, suzis n kawis, 650s to 1600s. All fer now.....👍

Frustrating to watch.

Remember when C Street was a dirt parking lot? I drove my Baja bug in there to go check out the waves and all of those drunken bikers were hanging out and one of them walked in my path so I went to go around him but he got pissed off and blocked my path. I was cocky and told him not to touch my car and then he wouldn't get out of my way, so I edged forward And bumped him and he freaked out and punched me in the head through my window, so I freaked out and went to the end of the point but there is only one way in and one way out! Then I noticed that a dude in a motorcycle had pulled in behind me and they were also pulling cars out to block my exit path! So I punched it and waved at the dude to get the hell out of my way and I chose to run him over and he got stuck underneath my car in the fender and I dragged him about 30 feet before my car stalled. Then I was attacked by a mob of drunken bikers and they pulled me out of my car by my neck And beat the shit out of me while the biker laid on the ground with all of his clothing drug off of his body. He had severe road rash. They even let the guys girlfriend beat on me. The police and the fire department showed up and the cops yelled at the bikers as they left the scene and the cops told me they were a bunch of scumbags and to not come back to the point in that Baja bug, but they had no interest in charging me at all. Made front page of the paper! 💪

Something about 1969. That summer a huge south swell hit Malibu. First time I ever surfed there at night. Well 4am when it was still dark. We surfed maybe 2 hrs then got out and ate breakfast. When we came back to the beach. ?? Same thing. Just started getting bigger and bigger. 4ft at 5am and then by 1pm it was 10-12 ft and growing. 6 guys out. That's it. (Not me) Mickey Dora, Johnny Fain Mike Tabeling, Dewey Weber and a couple others. They were riding from 3rd point all the way thru the bay then shooting the pier and then kicking out some 200 ft down the beach. What did we do then..?? We went home packed up and went to Baja. Got there before dark at high tide. K-38. 12- 15 ft. Spent the next 3 days surfing different spots until the swell went away. This was pre-leash so I knew not to take my board so I borrowed this kids nearly brand new 8'6" and totally wrecked it..

It's is intreguing to watch breaks along the coast that is usually not necessarily BIG like these storms and to watch the break much like it is at 10' or there abouts...
