Here's What Made Larry Johnson Such a Great NBA Player
If not for chronic back problems, Larry Johnson would have been even more of a dominant player. But, even so, he was an outstanding player in the 90s for both the Hornets and Knicks. #nba #larryjohnson #charlottehornets #hornets #newyorkknicks #knicks #filmroom #nbafilmstudy

Straight garbage
Having a 7-ft wingspan at 6’4-6’5 didn’t hurt.
grew up watching clyde Drexler on TV and going to a game he was one of my favorite basketball players had a great attitude in the game
great vid! but can I get a link to this stat you're talking about? It's not easy to find
LJ!!!!! , greatest hornet ever
you have done great job at research
One of my favorite players when I was a kid.
GS Sprewell nut here, been farming Spree highlights since the Inside Stuff VHS days... I've never seen a lot of these clips, very impressive! Also, remembering the story of 5:50 ... I saw it live, and as I recall that stepback 3 gave him 49. I remember saying when OT started "my boy is finally gonna get his first 50 piece!" And then they just stopped feeding him. Making 49 his career high. Disappointing stuff.
I always called Sprewell “Method Man” of the NBA 😂 he was dope!
Well done video. As a kid in the 90s Jordan was that dude. My favorite athlete of all time. But there was a short stretch when Penny rivaled MJ in terms of popularity. Not just because Jordan had retired when Penny started making waves. Penny was that good and marketable. Alot of players was marketable back then because they conducted themselves like grown men. No weird hair styles, no tattoos etc etc.
Derrick Rose is similar to him.
Good video on LJ - such a beast. I gotta say I love your channel and how it is about the nuances of each player’s play style. Far too often the “how good was X really” videos on NBA players are about box score stats and narratives. I personally like how you describe a signature move of the player and then show MANY clips of displaying that. This is a video style that probably takes more research and organization than just summarizing some highlights or describing their Wikipedia page and I’m here for it! Anyway, enough glazing. I love your videos and LJ is an absolute monster especially during his hornets days.
Appreciate the comment!
He was so good in GS. He came back to the NBA and his whole play style changed. It went from smooth to literally anxiety. Man was different. He was just so smooth in GS. He was my second favorite next to Pippen. Had 3 different color of his Converse in 7th grade
Good player but nowhere near great
When young fans talk about superior athletes, today, this is one of the dudes I refer them to check out, before they go on talking smack.
Great video!!
414 in the building!
My favorite player of the 90s
I enjoyed watching Sprewell play,he was poetry in motion, but, once he choked his coach not once,but-TWICE-I lost all respect for him as an nba player and a man.He should've been kicked out the league instead of being suspended ( even then he didn't do the enitre suspension handed to him ) even David Stern said on camera the nba is the only work-place where you can assault your boss and get away with it.Most nba pros are insecure, infantile, spoiled little boys, immature. They've never, ever had to actually work for anything,it's always been given to them, money, not attend classes in high-school or college, yet still get passing grades, being pampered by family,friends,coaches,teachers,etc,etc,..no wonder these guys are disfunctional,&&&holes. LOL.They've never had to be held accountable for most of their bag actions and decisions, everyone helps them cover-up things or pay people off.
Great variety of shots by Spree 3:00
Spree 4-5x Allstar 8:39
One if the best /Toughest defender in 90s 7:12
Underrated things bout is spree is passing 6:35
Also, og of the stepback no travel maneuver
He had heart and fire for sure. Game was kinda janky optically
exactly you said perfect
Man it’s crazy how so many great players from the 90s draft classes (wings especially) didn’t reach their full potential. Spree, Penny, G-Hill, Big Dog, etc… “too fast too soon era” - Bill Simmons
Can you do a breakdown on Larry Johnson
I’m in the middle of working on a video on him.

I see alot of him in jaylen brown

Malik monk
These historic breakdowns are the best!!!
One of my favorite player to watch back in the day Wait, was he the one who came up with spinning rims?
Sprewell spinning shoes!
he loved jumping off 2 feet to maintain control while finishing
Love the content bro keep going hard 🤟🏾
The Spre !!! What an athletic and complete player ! I miiiss that NBA days
Boa versão nos T wolves
Bro this has to be one of the best videos on Sprewell. You have footage / camera angles I've never seen before, and I thought I had seen and studied everything about Spree's game. The data you breakdown reveals another layer that you wouldn't really consider which I found excellent. He was certainly a master at improv. My favorite NBA player along with Mike! He was very special as a Warrior!
Appreciate the comment!
w vid as usual
Any young kids who watching this video Sprewell comparison today would be Kawhi and Jimmy Butler ability to play both sides of the court with Westbrook type athleticism and energy. You can't judge his game off numbers, he had bad games shooting but he played big in big moments and never backed down from anybody. His weakness was he didn't have superior breakdown handle to be a number 1 scorer so in match ups against Mj as he got older with less quickness he got exploited. Nonetheless Sprewell played basketball even if he got dunked on by Kobe, he kept playing and he has one greatest nba finals series vs Twin Towers in 1999 a yr after choking his cornball coach in Golden State. Like I said Sprewell didn't back down from nobody. Sprewell even though lacking great handle also ran point for Knicks most of 1 season, I hate Knicks Sprewell and Marcus Camby made me root for them and when they traded them I went back hating Knicks. Sprewell was Fast and Furious on basketball court, every night on espn you could expect lightning flashes to the rim with thunderous impact, with full stat sheet. Sprewell played under Don Nelson in Golden state who used similar 1960 Celtics strategy as he was shooting foward that spaced floor which led to dynasty and is basically similar to modern day nba but better ball movement and more emphasis in midrange , where as Don Nelson used the aba 3pt line so Sprewell and Pippen played a better version of modern NBA back in the days when there was defense.

My favorite videos on your channels are videos on older players like this because very few people cover them. This player might be too old but could you do one on Rick Barry?
Fantastic. Idk where u find so much GP's content. You got new sub
Appreciate it!
Very good work on a most unique player. His highlights from the 80s are GOAT level spectacular. I only disagree on his 3p shooting which was dreadful. No way he would become a floor spacer in todays game - think about Giannis. Barkley is so bad that his eFG% takes a dip the more threes he takes. In general, he was hardly the same player in his 30s and this knocks his all time ranking unfortunately.
👍
I really think your content has legs and deserve tens of thousands of subscribers, if not more. Although, I kinda wish you'd spend more time with these analysis of older players like you did here. Some potentially good players to cover: Anthony Mason - is what Draymond was in the 90's. Worth noticing how tight his handles are and how hard he bounces the ball. Rod Strickland - a more laid back Kyrie. John Starks - may just be the streakiest player back then. His highs and lows are very polarizing that it might be interesting to analyze. Brad Miller - close to Jokic. Would've been even more underrecognized if Webber didn't get injured. K. Mart made a bank just from his on-point assists. Hoping for this channel to skyrocket!!
Appreciate the comment!
Amazing video on one of the greatest pgs of the 90’s
