    Bestek puts out 2 different versions of their 500 watt inverter. One is the Pure Sine Wave that conforms to UL STD 458 and is Certified to CSA STD. C22.2 No.107.1. This runs about $70. This is larger than their other 500 watt inverter. This is also stamped with 500W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter. From cigarette lighter plug it consistently outputs 108-109 watts to my 600watt power station whereas the cigarette lighter charging cord that came with my power station only puts out 27 to 37 max watts to my power station depending on if I am drawing power out from station same time as charging it. I am able to charge with this inverter and pull power from power station same time as well. Even while doing so it consistently inputs 108-109 watts no matter what I am drawing from station. This charger comes in red, black, or blue color. From battery it draws about 455 Watts. The limitation from cigarette lighter plug is due to car limitation set by car maker for this power plug. The other 500 Watt Inverter is smaller in size and runs in the $40+ to $50+ range. It does not claim to be Pure Sine Wave and also does not mark it as modified sine wave which can destroy sensitive electronics. Watch what you are ordering. I have run my inverter for hours and it never got warm. Amazon does not separate the reviews from one or the other. They group them all under each inverter. Unless the individual lists exactly which inverter they actually bought there is no way to tell if review is for the lower quality 500 Watt Inverter or if it is for the higher quality one. Pay the extra money. Get the better inverter for the health of your beloved electronics.

    Why replace the carrier bearings if you're only changing the gearset? Set the pinion depth, throw the carrier back in, and recheck the backlash. It likely didn't change.

    • @homebuilthappiness2919
      @homebuilthappiness2919 2 місяці тому

      The gearset came with the bearings as a kit. It's a 34 year old van with over 200k. Not changing the bearings just seemed like a very poor idea since this vehicle is used to tow long distance. Sort of like changing a timing set and leaving the old water pump on.

    What is Energy Saver mode? Does it continue to keep the room cool?

    • @homebuilthappiness2919
      @homebuilthappiness2919 2 місяці тому

      I answered your other question and it covers this. It will absolutely keep your room cool, just shuts off when temp is achieved whereas "cool" doesn't

  • @jeffnay6502

    I just install the 10K unit in my shed. So, I am trying to learn something about the energy saving features. I noticed that my fan is always running, but I guess that is no big deal. What is Dry Mode? What is sleep mode? I am so used to the AC in the house kicking off when it reaches the correct temp, that this unit is throwing me off a little bit.

    • @homebuilthappiness2919
      @homebuilthappiness2919 2 місяці тому

      Cool - runs with fan on full time regardless of temp. Compressor use will vary based on ambient temp. Max power usage observed is 1200w Energy saver - pretty much the same as "cool" except when ambient temp reaches your desired set temp, unit will shut off until room heats up again. Fan - just that Dry - unit runs cold and at a low (unchangeable) fan speed. This is so that the cooling coils can pick up moisture in the air which drips down to the units bottom plat and is evacuated out the rear of the unit. Compressor does not draw full power in this mode and is variable based on temp. Max observed consumption is 700w on our specific model and it varies between 290-700 in our use. Dry is our preferred method of operation while operating on solar because of it's lower energy consumption. Sleep mode is a very quiet mode. It will run in a way that is quieter than normal for light sleepers. It generally runs the fan ultra low to achieve this which is not desirable to us therefore we do not use it.

      @@homebuilthappiness2919 I am starting to get the hang of it. I have only had it for one day so far. It was 95% here in Florida earlier today and this unit could not keep my 10' x 20' (200sqft) shed cool on any setting. I think the focus on energy efficiency has caused LG to miss the mark on cooling. A 10K unit rated to cool a 450sqft area should do a much better job. Although it only has a 2.5" by 13.5" vent for cooling seems to be part of the problem.

      @@jeffnay6502 possibly consider your insulation on this structure? BTU is a BTU, it's a measure of cooling. I am currently running this unit right now in the New Mexico desert during a NOAA heat advisory. Our personal weather station which is mounted on property is showing 107 right now and we are maintaining 81 on dry setting running off solar currently and we are only insulated with R5 in the walls and R10 in the ceiling and the unit is almost 3 years old.

    • @jeffnay6502
      @jeffnay6502 2 місяці тому

      @@homebuilthappiness2919 I do not have any insulation at this time. I was just watching some videos on installing foam insulation boards. It is overcast and the temp is down to 83 outside, so the shed is cooling off. I have it set on energy saver with the temp set at 68 so as it gets hotter tomorrow, it might be able to maintain a temp under 80 I would like to keep it around 75.

      @@homebuilthappiness2919 Another issue to consider when installing a small AC unit is which wall is the best for air flow. Unfortunately my shed is oriented where the long wall (20') is the front of the shed and the other long wall is that back of the shed. On the short sides (10') i have garden beds on both sides, so I did not want to place an AC unit sticking out on either one of those sides. However installing an AC unit like this one, would be better off installed on one of the short sides so that it could blow across the full length of the shed.

    I use to race mustangs and did so many gear swaps on mustangs for people. All I used early on was a bearing separator to remove bearings then a pipe to install the pinion bearing and a socket for carrier bearings i pounded them on with a heavy hammer but the pipe and socket were the perfect size so only the race part of the bearings were making contact. I bought a 20ton press to make my life easier after a few lol. You only want to make contact with the race of the bearings you don’t want to put the outer race on to press it on. To make the crush sleeve process faster I use a set up pinion bearing the small one next to pinion seal. I install the pinion without a crush sleeve and tighten the nut down just until there is no play in the pinion, the using a caliper i measure from the pinion nut to end of pinion. Remove pinion from rear end, the put the bearing, yoke and tight nut until the same measurement from pinion nut to end is reached. Then measure distance between the inner pinion races where crush sleeve would be, then measure the new crush sleeve. Say the new crush sleeve is .050 larger then the measurement what I do is put it in the press to take out half of that which makes it a bit easier and I also have the longest 1/2in breaker bar Mac tools makes that helps a lot too. Last thing they make a long thing 12 point socket for the drive shaft bolts so if ur ever gonna do one of these again i suggest getting one.

Another question, "Did the Indians and Mexicans, in days of old, go totown to get their soil?" Of course, the answer is, "Hell no!" How about getting a person-with-a-tractor out there to dig a hole and get you a pile, the size you need. That's what the quariman did!

    Great video, however if you're going to run 1000 watts you're going to need a bigger inverter because you have that one running full open and that is going to cause heat, also you need to get that thing out of that little cupboard down closer to the floor level because all your heats up top of the room and even though the fans blowing that little cover is not going to let it vent enough even with the door open.

      Not at all actually. It still sees full time off grid service and I'm actually running our air conditioner on it as I type this. We'll get an idea of capacity loss this summer as that's when the battery sees the deepest discharge. I generally don't run it to low voltage cut off but it does happen a couple of times during the summers peak. I'm hoping to still see 2500wh at that point but we'll see. I usually run it to about 50-75% discharge and it sees max charge current of about 70A. Considering buying 2 more actually, possibly this summer

    Had the same bike back in 1988. My first bike. It was a cm custom 250 with crash bars. Wish I still had it. Fun and easy to ride. My second bike was a honda cx500 custom with a Windjammer. I loved that bike too. That was the good Ole days.

    what town is it in? I’ve been looking in AZ, but you run across building restrictions for the size home we want to build. Cochise county has an opt out, only for 1 building less than 200sqft, but it’s really not an opt out. They still inspect. Who wants to live in a box off grid? You bought land to build until your heart is content. Does Taos not fit all those requirements? I’m not sure what req, if any, are there. Where can i go to look more into land out there? Thank you so much!
