Donald Curry v Milton McCrory 1985 UK TV One of the best left hooks you will ever see and one of the most needless right had KO's shots too. Mills Lane was a great referee. Mostly he got it right on the money.. This time I have to say he got it so badly wrong as to be dangerous. I get that it was a title fight and that he should have given McCrory every chance he could in the fight, but it was ...

Hector Camacho v Edwin Rosario 1986 Boxing. This is a great battle between two world class fighters. Unusual in being two Puerto Rican's pitted against each other for a title fight...something that had occurred only three times before. Edwin Rosario was a stiff punching no nonsense fighter. This was his attempt at regaining his title (no spoilers who he lost it to) He wasn't flashy and didn't r...

Hi, Retro I tell you ITV brought memorable fights through their decades of the 70's and 80's. The late Reg Gutteridge brought us these fights on ITV being on the mike. Reg either writing or commentating. Come on Retro, more fight classics on ITV. Sugar Ray Leonard fought Donnie Lalonde thirty four years ago. Lalonde dropped Leonard in the fourth and Leonard firing back to stop the Canadian in the ninth.

I remember watching this game and expecting Japan to be good and I was just a teenager. It was arrogant and ignorant for the likes of Brooking to suggest it would have been "poor" to draw with them. It seems many pundits had absolutely no idea about Japanese football. They were just lacking a clinical cutting edge but they outplayed them in the middle of the park. On a side note the Platt foul was a definite penalty.

This is the montage I remember best out of all of them - good to see it again. The three bits I remembered before even watching the video were Terry Griffiths struggling down the steps, Euan Henderson rubbing his cue with a strange expression on his face, and Nigel Bond eating!

When a fighter bends at the waist and bobs up and down like Fraizer or Ken Norton, Fore can knock them out with those powerful hooks, but when a fighter stands tall like Ali it is a different thing, Foreman hooks aren't as devastating.

Joe frazier was champion for 5 years. In Those five Years Frazier's managers did not allow him to fight big hard-hitting heavyweights. Like Sonny liston Ernie shavers Ron lye Frazier never Fought Any Of them not even Ken Norton, because they knew what would happen.

Muhammad Ali is the GOAT but Foreman is an OAK TREE, so frazier trying to stare him down shows he wasn't that bright. Ali beat frazier with his physical skills but he beat Foreman with his mind.

Ali was bragging about Zaire before the Norton-foreman fight. How does a challenger already know this? Ali was lucky that foreman fought stupidly that night in Zaire. And Ali's decision to fight an OLD WHITE dude instead of foreman, proved that he feared foreman.

Cosell's call of the Foreman Frazier fight looks even more impressive by comparison. "DOWN GOES FRAZIER!! DOWN GOES FRAZIER!!" The elevated drama that Cosell's narration could bring to an event remains un matched to this day.
