Coming home from work last week I passed a truck for sale. We have been talking about getting a truck for some time but don't want to spend brand-new truck money. I passed this one and the price was right for how much work it needs. Plus, it let's me make more content. I hope you enjoy. There will be a learning curve for working on something that isn't a Mercedes but I'll figure it out. If you have any constructive criticism, it would be greatly appreciated.

@@jameseastwood4984 😂😂😂 thank you!
Does it lay frame 😂
@@jameseastwood4984 not quite. It does rub some because I have 17" wheels with 225 wide tires. I have the thickest spring pads already. I raised it some with a 1/2" chunk of high density rubber above the front spring pads.
what is the torque for the crankshaft screw?
@@Miqfos a thousand apologies for the late reply. The torque is 400Nm.
Hi I installed my old timing chain and old tensioner back but when the tensioner is fully installed I can't turn the motor by hand? Until I loosen the tensioner back about half way and then I am able to turn it over. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
@@frankissa8040 did you reset the tensioner?
@@FriendlyMBTech No sir I did not. Is that video where you take the tension apart?
@frankissa8040 yes sir. I remember having issues getting the tensioner in properly. I did have to take it out a time or two. I also believe I did not have the pins installed that hold the cams in place.
Thank you sir, good video 👍
@@josecortez4789 you're very welcome!
PERFECT! I have exactly the same problem with my Estate. I'm going to pull the combi switch from my donor car. However, this might just be a dirty switch issue and I will attempt to clean the bad switch first. Great video, thank you!!
@@TheReal1953 you're very welcome. Let me know if it doesn't fix it.
Very helpful! Thanks 👍

150k I would go buy an apartment as a down payment.
Do you think you would recommend using Bilstein B8 and HR springs for daily driving?
@alanOHALAN I do. It's firm, but it won't rattle your teeth out. I find it very smooth on the freeway, and I live in Southern California, where the freeways are notoriously bad. Depending on your wheel and tire setup, you might get some rubbing. I'm using 17" W203 Sport wheels and 225 wide tires. I rub in places on the freeway and certain dips. To help with that, I made a pad out of 1/2" high density rubber and put that on top of the upper spring pad in the front. I still rub but not as bad. If I had a narrower tire, I might not rub at all. Front and rear wheel arches are rolled but not stretched. Just enough to fold in the inner lip. Otherwise the 225 tires would rub in the rear. Now I only rub in the front on the inside on very large dips.
New oil out, new oil in😂
@patriksernc I hadn't checked the differential fluid since buying the car, so I didn't know the condition of it. I'm glad the previous owner kept up on it
So what cause oil Leak from filler cap on this engine m276
@deez6686 oil filler caps have seals that can go bad. I would throw a new cap on and see if it fixes it.
I did buy a new one from the dealer still leak . Please help if you can
@deez6686 how many miles are on the car? If the piston rings are worn, you could have too much pressure in the crankcase causing oil to leak out of seals like the oil cap.
Scotty got under a car once using just a jack, and also spliced brake lines using unions that said right on them not for use with brakes. That’s all that needs to be said about Scotty.
@@NovaScotiaKevin 😂😂😂🤔
You selling this???
@brokeboytelevision9974 No sir.
Liked this video in the hopes I'll be able to find it easily again lol. 174K on my E420 and I've only had to do the front crankshaft seal so far; No leakage off the back of the engine just yet. Thank you for your tutorial!

Hows the M120 project going buddy? I love your videos, great info👍
@UKBUILT Thank you! It's going slowly. I'm at the point where I need an entire car to finish it. I need all the accessories and electronics for the engine.
Nice 😍 I am using the m120 V12 for my supercar project 👍
@@UKBUILT What's the project?
Love your w124 content its so rare to see things done accroding the Mercedes spec. these days. My father currently builds some tools to be able to make a suspension alignment at home but he struggles at measuring the chamber properly without special tools. We have a WIS CD for the W124 but in regard to chamber it states next to nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Greetings from Germany.

how do you remove the exhaust to egr pipe. at 29:5 in your video. the side connected to the exhaust.
@timlin254 there are two fairly long bolts securing it to the head, depending on your model, the turbo side is either that clamp, or two smaller bolts. Once those are removed it comes right out.
@timlin254 the clamp has a small torx bolt, could be E10 or possibly E8.
I see you replying to a couple people hope I can get answer does this apply to r129 I have sl500 and am having issue finding a spark plug wiring diagram or a video please reply anything helps
@gabrielmedina5503 I try to reply to everyone. Some slip through the cracks though. This should apply to the R129. All M119s have the same firing order.
@@FriendlyMBTechthank you so much I hope you have an amazing rest of your night

Glad you discussed the centrifuge cap - I am now aware I need to order some gaskets for the hpfp before digging in. This kind of failure was new to me but was easy enough to confirm when I pulled the cap and the sound went away.
@@Mis73rRand0m I'm glad you were able to figure it out easily!
WAITING FOR HOW TO PUT IT BACK . THANKS!
@北洋军阀 pretty much the opposite of taking it out. Nothing really special about going back in.
Can you source a quality fan clutch for that car? Or a rebuild kit?
@joewestfall2952 the factory fan clutch is no longer available. The one I had on the car I got from a guy who knew a guy. If you can find a NOS factory one, go for that. Otherwise try FCPEURO.COM.
Hi I have a question. My piston had little scratches so I ordered one off eBay. My position is 2-3 and the one I received was 6-6 or 9-9 not sure. But when I installed with the arrow pointing towards the pulley it did not fit until I rotated the piston 180 degrees and perfect fit. Engine rotation just fine. Would this be an issue?
@frankissa8040 I apologize for the late reply. I honestly have no idea what the physical differences are when you face the piston the other direction. It's could be an expensive experiment to partake.
@@FriendlyMBTech Thanks you so much I will keep finger crossed and sent it

Any idea on changing the self-levelling motor in the headlight?
@@willbaker1472 doubt you'll find instructions or replacement parts outside of replacing the whole headlamp.
@@FriendlyMBTech Yeah I was presuming that would be the case. One headlight isn't self-levelling, but I've also got some intermittent warnings on the dash for the same headlight.
any conversions to make these a rear sump? like an om606 using a 648 oil pump/pan
I ended up having it on a fan sensor that runs it at full speed at 95-90C. It's grounded to run so slowly at startup. Now it feels like a fan clutch that as a bonus runs at full speed at low RPM's and does not slip at high speeds. Extremely useful in my crazy climate. But it's an M103. Not sure if the M119 leaves enough clearance for it to go in.
What temperature thermostat do you have in it?
@@FriendlyMBTech 71C Thinking about a 79C. The W221 fan does manage to turn off with this setup even at +42C but with the help of the aux fans at high. Couldn't bring myself to cancel the aux fans for safety measures and so it help the W221 fan to stop more often.
9:14 - no they do not all break. Ford used that same design on the 2005 to 2009 mustangs and ive never seen one that didnt work. Those mustangs get abused a lot more than the Mercedes. The wind noise in those Celicas is atrocious hence why the Germans and later Ford used a different design. God, listing to Scotty is like nails on a chalkboard.
Is this the same as the w210 e420 from 1997
@@ChrisSickich it is probably very similar.
Looks great mate.
@@BenzAddictionThank you!
Are the zip ties at the end to keep the two halves of the manifold together? On a side note, have you come across any products that help prevent carbon deposits from sticking? I saw a video of a guy who works on sprinters who claimed he had a special spray that helped prevent carbon build up. Does that sound accurate to you? ua-cam.com/video/MDuabu3IImE/v-deo.html
@@unbentcrayfish I would be wary of any products saying they can prevent that. Yes, that's exactly what the zip ties are for.

Are you going to post the rest of the videos showing the complete reassembly of this massive machine? I went through the whole M120 project on your channel but I couldn’t find the final videos for this project.
@edlopz1722 I'm not done with the videos yet. I'm still looking for a complete car to take apart so I can have all the electronics and accessories for the engine. It would be easier and cheaper than buying each part individually.
