Coming home from work last week I passed a truck for sale. We have been talking about getting a truck for some time but don't want to spend brand-new truck money. I passed this one and the price was right for how much work it needs. Plus, it let's me make more content. I hope you enjoy. There will be a learning curve for working on something that isn't a Mercedes but I'll figure it out. If you have any constructive criticism, it would be greatly appreciated.

What a GREAT 👍 video. I have 2015 GL350 - exactly the same with all the details. Thank You!!! Question: where is the putting it back together, as promised at the end of the video?
@Ayzaf1 Thank you! I have not been able to source a vehicle that I can do the reinstallation video on. This vehicle became a time crunch and I wasn't able to record that. As soon as I get a vehicle that needs oil cooler seals, I'll record it.
And the converter oil.... It is an option?
@MercedesBenzW124 yes. Depending on your fluid condition you may or my not choose to drain it. Just turn the engine over by hand until the drain plug is visible. Some torque converters might not have a drain plug though.
What is the small vacuum hole that is at 5:20 directly behind the air intake? Is it supposed to be covered or can it be open?!

@ thank you!
@Austrium1483 you're welcome!
Thank you for this super in depth video! Even with all the space it seems like a chaotic job, on my w212 theres is barely any space to even breathe around there, dreading the day when those intakes will have to come out, hopefully not anytime soon! Glad that they sorted those oil cooler seals on the newer versions. But will definitely save this video as its so in depth, great job man!

is it normal? i rebuild my Corolla 5EFE engine recently, 1st oil changed after 300KM & 2nd oil change was about 2500KM, fiund it just like that in ur video, kindly guide.
@hassanaliqazilbash it is probably normal. My engine was a junk yard engine and I've put 30k miles on it so far.
@FriendlyMBTech glad to see your reply, thank you.
Hello Sir.......I thank you for making these vids for the M120. I have an engine that I am freshening up. I have not removed or replaced the chain. i have the pins lined up on the cams like you show, but need clarification on one detail please. The pins on the pass side head, do not lay flat like the ones on the drivers side. I was paying close attention to what you were showing ,and it looks like your pass side did not lay down entirely either. It is not much ,but makes me wonder if there is a couple of teeth off on these two cams. Please comment. Also did you find a car? It sounds like this is going into something other than an S class. is that right? Keep up the vids. You are very clear and informative in a tv full of people that should not be there. Thanks
@isitjustme3365 youre very welcome! They might not line up just exactly perfect. But several teeth off would be a huge different. One or more teeth off would cause running concerns. Yes, i just recently found a car. I need to pull the engine amd get back to work. The plan is to put the V12 in my 1992 400E body.
@isitjustme3365 the car I found is a 1997 SL600. The engine I have is a 1993 or 1994. The 97 has coil on plug and the earlier engine has distributors. I need to figure out what can be swapped and if it's possible to convert the earlier motor to coil on plug. At least the cylinder head front covers.
Hi neighbor, you don't know how much time you save me with your videos! I am currently partly rebuilding m120 and i have m119 waiting . These days i will upload my videos.Honestly you save me tonsof reading for the torque settings. Thanks and keep the good work!😊
@GrandpasworkshopBG thank you and you're welcome!
I am considering a M120 for my lambo replica. I would like to make max power @ 6500 rpm. Who makes cams for these engines?
@CrankAddict No one really. The M120 is not a very good bang for your buck engine. You'd be better off using an M275 if it has to be a V12.
Bravo 👍

Is taking a w124 to a Mercedes dealership the only way to get a perfect alignment? Ive been to 3 different shops with my lowered w124 and they all they did was adjust toe and the car still isnt quite driving straight.
@JohnJohnson-fy6dt with a lowered car, there are always issues when trying to get an alignment. You can adjust the camber and caster somewhat, basically to make them even side to side. They'll obviously be out of spec, but you can get them as good as possible. If they're even side to side, it should go straight unless you have a tire pull. You can swap the front tires, and it might go straight. Or swap the rear tires to the front if your setup isn't staggered.
This is easily the best explanation of this system on UA-cam

How do you fix code p0507 rough idle, that’s my problem right now n I can’t seem to find the right part name.

New subscriber I found you for searching fuel pressure regulator for my 99 Accord 3.0 EXL . Very low milage 62k miles but noticed the other day a longer crank time but only in the first start of day . I personally feel it’s failing to hold rail pressure . It’s a difficult part to buy as Honda has discontinued the part . I’m a retired aircraft mechanic ( military jets ) and Diyer . My next task is to hook a fuel pressure gauge to my 07 Odyessey 3.5 . I have the parts needed I think . Gauge is from Honda parts are my collection . Any ideas there is no Schrader valve . Thanks for any ideas . 👍. Artie

Is this the same button for the CLK convertible w209 couldn’t feel it first time I was told that the parking release long spring is under the rear seat , I need to reattach it.
@@intheldn2intheldn267 I'm not sure I understand. What button? There isn't anything under the rear seat related to the parking release. That's under the vehicle.
@@FriendlyMBTech I bought a used CLK and found a note after purchasing, along with a 5cm spring, saying, ‘spring for parking brake release needs to be reattached.’ The issue is that when I pull the plastic parking brake release handle under the driver’s area, the metal parking brake pedal (the one you push down with your foot) doesn’t lift back up as it should. A mechanic told me the spring might need to be accessed by lifting the middle compartment but I would have to remove the rear seats, but I’m not sure if that’s correct. Have you heard of this spring? I’m aware there’s a shorter spring underneath the driver’s seat, but this one appears to be longer and meant for another location.
@intheldn2intheldn267 yes, under the rear seat there is an access panel for the automatic slack adjuster for the parking brake. There is a spring on this. It sounds like that is what the spring belongs to.
@@FriendlyMBTech Thank you that helped a lot!

Can you do a video how to reset your clock?
@ianengland9549 it's very easy. Push the knob by the clock and turn while the button is pushed.
@FriendlyMBTech thank you but also we have electrical problem it's not the battery it's not the alternator it drives great but if we don't drive it sooner often the battery goes dead it's a new battery so can you probably explain what problem it might have with electrical?
I hate Scotty Kilmer. Not only is super ass annoying he is almost always inaccurate and misinforming people about things just like you’ve pointed out over and over. I have a 2011 S550 4MATIC that has been nothing but lovely. I did have to replace amd air strut yet. But that is because I hit a pothole that was hidden underwater on a rainy day. Not Mercedes’s fault not really my fault but just a sucky situation. Do I hate the car now and think it’s a pile of crap?? Absolutely not. I also drive a 1999 S500 Grand Edition. Yes the infamous nineteen-nineties S Class the W140. The car that people say makes Mercedes mechanics, both dealer and Indy, crawl. It currently has 163,000 miles on it. It’s has been a true joy to own. It’s not all that scary to work on. I did a complete tuneup on it all by myself at the house with zero issues or hesitations. But it’s been very well cared for by me and its previous owner. So because of that it’s also been as reliable as any Lexus LS I’ve owned in years past.
Thank you for the video. I know this was a couple years ago, but what was the final result after a couple years has passed? I just changed the engine oil out of my newly built motor and the oil was also metallic.
@joshuahearn3555 30k miles later and it's still running strong.
@ awesome man, thanks again! I had the same scare when I changed my engine oil and I’m getting a lot of mixed signals from people telling me that my bearings are shot or other metal issues exist. But the engine runs strong, and there are no other issues, I think it was just normal break-in material. My engine oil looks identical to what you posted in this video.
@joshuahearn3555 I chalk it up to getting my engine from a very sketchy place. The next oil change was metallic also but not quite as bad. The others looked normal.
@joshuahearn3555 also, you're very welcome.
Do you have a video on how to access that reservoir for replacement? Need to replace mine, likely a crack from a fender bender that left no damage other than a leaking washer reservoir.
It's very easy. Remove the wheel, remove the fender liner, remove the reservoir. The fender liner is held in by some plastic push clips and 10mm plastic nuts. The washer reservoir is held in by a 10mm bolt or nut, I don't remember which. You just have to snake it out from around the lines and harness. Make sure to get the grommets back on when reinstalling.
I just put the fan from W204 to my W124 which I already upgraded the alternator to 115A few years ago before. I haven't put any PWM controller yet, just tested the fan directly to battery and turn 100%, but the charging voltage slowly drop from 13.5V to 11.8V. 😂
Do you happen to have the part number for the upper manifold rear mounting bolts? One of mine fell out of its rubber grommet. I took the skid guards off the bottom to look for it but it is nowhere to be found.
Hi I have issue that the rubber hose which goes in that vacuum pops out and start leaking. So is that the bad vacuum pump or something else?
I mean the vacuum pump?
@mohammedkhan1910 yes, the vacuum pump needs to be replaced.
Thanks I am doing this job next week. Also do I need to replace new intake gaskets?
@mohammedkhan1910 it wouldn't hurt. Just remember to install them on the lower manifold and not the upper manifold when reassembling.
