Thank you so much. This information saved me 1k. I went from a motor with 5 wires to a 9 wire motor.
I have an old furnace that has a motor that still works but I need to tap it to get it turning. I purchased a new motor but it says it’s a four speed and my furnace only runs the heater, so only one speed. Not sure if I can run this new motor only at the single 1700 rpm. Is this possible? Any advice would help, thanks so much.
Could you show us how this is different on ECM motors?
I have a HD46MQ150 because they discontinued my original model KMSAH012C03. There are two connectors on the motor, one with large gauge wires and one small. Which one controls speed and is this motor looking for 24vac on those wires?
Why Is the rollout switch keep tripping
Most common reason is you have a large enough hole in your heat exchanger to trip your rollout switch. Generally they is a good reason to get a new furnace. Other options are it's the wrong switch, it's a bad switch, or you've got a gas pressure issue.
Lady you added so much BS. Your description of the video was to describe symbols. Why not just give the symbol meaning. Your videos are blocked !
What a whiny little baby. If you want a definition next to a picture just google it, there are a million instruction manuals for a million meters that tell you what the symbols mean.
you keep repeating yourself so remove the gas valve and manifold already
Im confused what to do with my last wire it’s red and labeled LO
Is there a way to reduce the amp draw on the motor at startup?
Buttons 😂
My heat kit looks exactly like the one you started the video with. Any chance you have a link to a video testing the first/other style heat kit shown in the video?
Thank you.
Thank you Soo much !! Just save my life literally was freezing to death 🥶 here at the house for a few days now
Has anyone come across that particular belly band to fit in the Carrier blower housing? I have the same Broad Ocean motor in a Carrier furnace with one speed failed and I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before other tappings fail.
I have found them under 5K002, however they are on back-order everywhere. White Rogers (Copeland)/Genteq used to carry them but I think because of the hurricane they got hit hard. Honestly, try finding a rigid bracket and tap in to your housing. That's what I have had to do recently.
Hey just subscribed Nice work and tutorial I think people should get to know the workings of their household appliances
Me too! Welcome to the channel. :)
very nice very detailed! thank you.
You're so welcome, I hope that it helped!
Can you speed it up? I'm freezing
My motor has all those same colors...when my heat or AC is on..both are running on high speed fan. If i wont too run on low speed i just cross the red and black wire
So what would happen if I connected the coming lead and the hot lead one to one speed and the other to another speed???
It probably just wouldn't work. The control shouldn't call for more than one speed at a time, so I don't see why it would cause a direct short. Without a common/neutral going to the correct place, it won't run with power only on a speed wire though. Overall - I'd just avoid getting it wrong in the first place. Take a lot of pictures and reference wiring diagrams that are available - installing parts incorrectly can be a safety hazard.
Great video, very detailed and helpful info! Thank you for sharing!!
Day 4 still no help from vevor. I have a reversible fan motor that has an extra yellow with green stripe wire with a loop screw connector. It comes out of the motor hole with the two reversible wires and connector. Can anyone help with this. Where do you connect that yellow wire?
It's a ground wire. The motors from Vevor are not made to spec or standard for HVAC in the US. We ordered one to look at, it didn't have weep holes on the shaft side (it'll hold water and die quickly when it rains/sweats), the windings are THIN, and they run off roller-skate bearings.
I am replacing a 230v motor 5 speed. The old motor calls for a common 24vac or 18vdc but my new motor doesn’t call for it, I have all wiring matched up except that 24 v common. What do you so?
I am missing vital info to even start to answer your question. What I'm interpreting this as is you are replacing a variable speed motor with a PSC motor? Unsure without knowing a part number of both motors and a wiring diagram.
Great helpful video
Thanks for making this. What is the jumper fuse you used to bypass your clamp meter?
I'm not sure of the question. The limit switch has a thermal plate that I was testing continuity. I was holding it with a pair of needle nose since it was hot from testing it. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding?
You said if the fan is going the wrong direction, "just change two wires", but you didn't say which wires or how to change them. NOT HELPFUL.
You mean while discussing the reversing leads - the wires made specifically for changing the rotation of the motor, I should have mentioned reversing leads again? Get your hearing checked.
It's 8:11. The video I watched didn't tell me where the wires coming out of the motor goes
This video is only 7 minutes and 10 seconds long.
awww,,.....what happened to my question???.. how did it disappear.. nooo... it was so detail. & I call myself waiting on a reply
Great video.. 2 Questions?.. I have the 3-pole capacitor / dual capacitor that came with my universal motor, that also has the brown, brown with white stripe wire and also the solid white wire, But the diagram on the motor says ( " ^white 208-230 volts line) also has a line and a arrow by black high pointing to the (^white 208-230 volts line) My question is,.. in this case, Is the white wire considered a common or & a line, 2nd Question,. Which of the capacitor poles do I hook the wires up to,(harm, Fan or c for common)? The universal motor I have is [Trade pro tp-E33-3SP2 ] [ HP: 1/3 ] 1075 rpm 208-230 vac amps: 2.2 60hz PH: 1 4BY frame 10 uF Capacitor lol ..I apologize about writing a book but I wanted to be clear as possible. And if you can help that wound be greatly appreciated.
So, your solid white wire (in this case) is your common. To put it simply, the brown and white striped wire is the same wire as the solid white, meaning it's not going to be used in your application with a dual capacitor setup. So the line between your white and your black indicates that those are your line voltage (high side voltage) Your black wire goes to the contactor, your white wire to the C on your capacitor, and the solid brown to the FAN terminal on your capacitor.
I'm about to replace my 3rd control board on a 20yo York gas furnace. I get the four-flash limit switch error code as soon as it turns on when calling for heat. The inducer & blower turn on immediately, & I get no voltage to the HSI. It cycles the inducer but the blower never stops. Everything has been metered, checked, jumped......it has to be a faulty processor chip on the control board.
A little late to comment here but there is an issue with the video, the switch being tested is pushed just off-screen making it impossible to see what you're doing.
ua-cam.com/video/aitko0LKWz4/v-deo.htmlsi=Dr38F5pkbaIifCbB&t=726 It will be right here for all limits. Not sure what happened to the formatting but when it was uploaded ages ago it was working just fine! Hope this helps.
Also here after the disc snaps back in to place to check the continuity.ua-cam.com/video/aitko0LKWz4/v-deo.htmlsi=Ojw7Gf9jMW4Kw-k7&t=741
Good explanation, thank you! I have the same motor: 120v, 3 fan speed wire, without heat. How can I instal the control board, and which one for using 24v thermostat? Thank you!
If the motor you're using is like the ones in the video, they are all high voltage wires. The motors in the example we are providing are specifically for air conditioning units, it sounds like you may not be wording on an air conditioner, is that correct? If so, you would have to check the specific wiring diagram for the appliance you are working on. The basic idea of the fan is you require a 120v line that goes through the single circuit relay going to whichever speed you choose, with a neutral wire direct to neutral, and a normally open relay to break the circuit. If your thermostat is 24V with only one speed option (basically one call for fan), the relay would need to be have a 24V coil. If you're using a standard air handler and you've set the thermostat to electric, that would be the G wire from the thermostat to control the relay. If you have a control board, I would need to specifically know the model of your air handler.
@@opentopublichvacschool I send an email to you rn. Thank you!
Wow. Far from learning anything from this video
Just like the rest of your life!😄
What about replacing an 850 rpm motor with an 825 one. Is it gonna make a huge difference.
They are the exact same thing! Anything that lists between 750-900 RPM on the tag is actually an eight pole motor. All eight pole PSC motors are 900 RPM.
@@opentopublichvacschool thank you so much for the quick replay.
Really appreciate 🙏 everything
FINALLY ! GREAT VIDEO! IT WAS AS THOUGH YOU KNEW. I WAS STUMPED.....or some how knew I had been connecting wires aaaaand plugging them in only to have sparks followed by cuss words! Thank you very much , good video.
That is awesome to hear! I hope everything keeps going great for you. 😄
Thanks that was really helpful
Great video. Gave me all the confidence I needed. Thanks!
Madam please how do I turn 48v / 350W hub motor to 60V / 1000W
Please how do I switch my 3 speed Moto 4 speed ?
✌️
Thank you, energize valve and blow thru, great ❤
I am trying to replace a 3 wire 220v blower motor with a motor that matches specs but has a number of additional wires. The old motor only had a blue black and red wire. The new motor has 2 SOLID brown wires, a white wire, a black wire, a red wire, an orange wire, a blue wire and a grey wire. I watched this video of yours several times and can’t get it right. Hopefully you can help me. I tried to attach Alicia of the area I’m trying to use but couldn’t find a way too. Thanks
You’re an idiot… take the slow talking video off the web, you couldn’t sound any dumber
Great video
Question: Is condenser fan motor a "single speed"?
Yes, it is a single speed in most cases. Some have two speeds or ECM's.
@@opentopublichvacschool Thank you!
Great explanation!
If using relay, is run wire broken on run side, or does board do this since there are 3 speeds?
120v gas furnace motor? What size wire? #12 romex? What size breaker?20amp? On average, how many amps does 120v motor pull?
Great info.
Question I have a 4 plus the ground cable hvac motor blower Emerson brand old type internally procteted two cable on the capacitor only, which wire will be the hot wire black, red, orange, brown?
