OKTO35 Mk3 Camera Progress Update #3
I've created a new 3D-printed viewfinder. It's a custom optical viewfinder with a built-in OLED display graphical overlay. Features glass optics, different framing modes, support for different lens focal lengths, and a parallax error correction mode.
Small and compact design, ready to be integrated into the upcoming OKTO35 Mk3 camera.

Creating and testing the circuit board (a.k.a. the brain) for the OKTO35 Mk3. All-in-one board design with built-in features such as USB-C charge and update, Bluetooth, powered by a single 18650 battery, support for external devices, and much more. My next task is the camera's 3D housing/shell design. More project info: blazsemprimoznik.com/okto35-mk3/ Wanna support the channel? www.paypal.me/B...

Thank you all for making it possible. This motivates me even more to finish the OKTO35 MK3 camera. As a big thank you, I've created a special video in which I show a basic process from shooting to scanning. For this video, I've used two 36-exp rolls of Kodak Pro Image 100 film with room to spare. The whole footage was shot at 18fps. Here’s to 1k subscribers! More project info: blazsemprimoznik....

3D Printed 35mm Analog Film Movie Camera | OKTO35
Переглядів 33 тис.Рік тому
I've designed and built a 3D-printed 35mm film camera that can shoot movies, photos, and time-lapses and also serves as a developed film scanner. Its custom (Super8) frame size enables longer shooting time, making it a cheap and easy way to shoot and scan 35mm film movies at about 51€ per 10min at 18fps. Fully automatic film wind/rewind system whit auto lense track positioning, a built-in light...
Adding another comment today just because.. there is a point in the development of any project when, even though continued improvements are possible, working prototypes put into the hands of a few fellow developers could help tremendously in reaching the goal. This new viewfinder is fantastic and I will continue to eagerly await the time when 3D printing files and/or production specifics or actual kits might become available for purchase. I’ll cross my fingers and toes in hopes of such advancements! Thanks again for all of your hard work and I really feel that you might just be on the brink of becoming financially set while enabling us cinema gear nerds to play with new toys!
im also patiently waiting, cheers!
I'm just now learning about this project. I'm excited to see how it turns out!
You must be rich
This is absurdly cool, do you think you will sell the files for home building if one has a 3d printer?
Thanks! I don't know for sure. The camera contains many electronic, optical and mechanical parts besides numerous 3D printed parts. It would be very difficult for someone to order parts and assemble it all together into a working condition.
Awesome
PLEASE MAKE AN UPDATE IVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY
Very interesting.
Hey, and news or new progress?
Still working on the camera body CAD design. It’s taking me longer than I anticipated. But I think there should be a progress update coming soon.
@@BlazSemprimoznik I'm still counting on getting your camera this Christmas.
I need it before Christmas it would make my life better pls
Very cool! Would love to see any updates on this!
This is amazing!! Can’t wait to see version 3!
great !!! 😃
genio assoluto !!! 😁😁😁+
hey man i would love to buy one of those cameras! where are you located?
Great to hear that, but unfortunately it's not yet ready for sale. When the project is finished, there should be a good chance for crowdfunding support. I'm from Slovenia.
@@BlazSemprimoznik I would like to come to your country to visit you and see the camera in person. Is that something you'd be open to?
@@azaarbaain Maybe once the project is finished.
Love this project! I hope it will be available for purchase some day!
I get this day 1
The footage the camera produces is beautiful, very vintage looking as soon as you make the OKTO35 MK3 available for purchase I'm buying one that's a promise.
I would love to use this with my students!
Why are you even asking, with the old viewfinder being all crappy and only coming with disadvantages or lacking useful features?
Anyways, any news on release date and price?
And I've just had another idea: How about an optional mode to reduce the number of columns from 4 to 3? If my math is correct, that would give us an image aspect ratio of 16:9. Of course, it would also mean that the number of frames per roll with 36exp would be reduced from 1,252 to 939, or a total runtime of roughly 59 seconds at 16fps.
@@tlatosmd There has to be some surveys done for a reality check or to see if I'm going mad :) Jokes aside, yes, I have already planned to check if such an idea would work; a user-switchable gate size from 4:3 to 16:9 (at expense of loosing a 1/4 of shooting time).
so cool!
The new one is cool! If you are releasing the 3d print files, I would vote for the viewfinder that’s the easiest to sources parts for and build. If you’re not, go with the better option!
U GOT THIS BRO
Still patiently waiting 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Definitely the new one! Loving your work buddy keep it up!!
Super cool project!👍👍
Idk if it’s even possible but how many 8mm frames fit side by side on 35mm? If you could build a rail for the shutter/front element that shifts with notches. So, you’d start to the left of the film, shoot the roll, respool it then shift shutter by one notch and you can expose a whole “roll” on the same roll. Like I said idk if it’s possible or if it’s too complicated but it would double or triple the amount of use out of one roll of film
The okto35 already works in your described fashion (4 long film columns/tracks with automatic shift), producing 1200 Super8 frames in total on one roll. See a scanned example on my website under 'Frame Exposure Method' section.
@@BlazSemprimoznik that's awesome! Yeah I see it now, I was on the MK3 page, didn't see it was with the info for mk2 - a bunch more great info on that page, thanks & good luck!
the quality of your content is excellent! whenever you get this thing onto a production line (even a kickstarter type of thing) you can put me down for one
I would love to buy this!! Incredible designing ❤
I was wondering are you gonna make TTL viewfinder eventually, like having a rotating mirror at 45 degrees as the shutter.
The Mk3 will have a TTL viewfinder, but due to internal space limitations, it will be accessible only when the user is not shooting. Otherwise, it will be used for critical focus and framing check. For shooting there will be an optical viewfinder. Sadly, there is no physical space for a 45 deg shutter and it's optical system, maybe in Mk4 :/
This is very cool, and if take bulk rolls is amazing, but I have a question: is the shakiness on the tripod shoots caused by the internal movement? Great project!
Yes, it produces by the internal geneva mechanism. In the next version mk3 it should be reduced.
CANT WAIT TO BUY ASAP PLS DROPPPP
New finder, of course. 👍👍
Man, your work is absolutely great, rarely I see anyone doing such innovative, fun and polished designs. Good luck and keep on doing this great work, seeing your Mk2 camera a while ago inspired me to dig out my old 3d printer and do several small photography-oriented designs myself. Can't wait for further updates!
right on! Keep up the good work.
I wait for every new video of yours like a holiday !
unbelievable awesome work. Never saw such a innovative and high-quality design. Really looking forward to the beta test!!!
New viewfinder! I cant wait to see it go into production
This is very cool!
Great progress with the project! I vote for the new design:-)
I really like the new viewfinder (excellent engineering!) but it does seem rather large. Looking forward to seeing more updates!
Clearly the new one ❤️
this is a great project. I'm delighted with your development
Yes! This year's Christmas is going to be great! :)
lol. new one is niiiiiice. very nice.
That's amazing! Insane Engineering. Is there a piece of UV filtering glass in there so you don't fry your eyes? 😄
Just an ordinary glass with coated film to partially block the incomming light.
Great to hear you making progress on this amazing little camera! I think the viewfinder design is dependant on the future of the whole camera system. Is it going to be available as an open source DIY project? If so, the simpler viewfinder would be easier to make and buy the necessary parts for. If you are going to only sell this, the fancier viewfinder is always better, if it doesn't affect the price that much. I would still like both viewfinders as alternative options for both (more complex but functional option for DIY and less pricey option for a complete product)
New viewfinder looks so much better!!!!!!!!!
Well done!!!! Looking forward for more! As for voting, I think it is obvious 😊
