It's definitely not content I was expecting to have made, mate. Just had to say my bit as it's not been the first time. Bikeshedgirl said, "Send your your wife her love and tell her that she will be making a return very soon. Don't know whether to cry knowing that 🤣. Hydraulic brakes can be costly for sure and have to keep up on pads and often bleed depending on fluid as I find dot fluid brakes need doing more often. Definitely save a lot of money being able to work on your own bike, and I would not pay £18 for a tube and fitting. I also agree that cyclists do have a degree of responsibility that the bike is safe, but for some people, that's what they reply to bikeshops for and she should have at least been informed on the many occasions she recently visited two shops. Bike shops are like car garages. Some are hit or miss 🤔

Kamikaze Uber drivers 🤣 and not to mention the deliverroo riders! It's not cycle Inn mate, they have always been great 👍. I would say they are the best bike shop Beeston have.

@@BikeShedBoy With cars we include a video health check so the owner can see were not trying to just make money out of them .Great to see guys like yourself and your local shop doing the right thing .👍

That's what decent bike shops do mate 👍 Stick and support them if they are good, for sure. It just really shocked me how many times the lady went into two different shops.

I understand, but they should have still advised about the brakes. I reckon every bike that comes through their doors could have a two minute free m-check and then advice on what is found. They would probably generate more business and a better relationship with the customers 🤔

What's "of ask"?

I think there should be something for NHS staff and care workers for sure. I have looked around most shops online, and it seems the going price for a new tube and fitting is around £14.50. The two shops are close to the city centre so I think their price is supposed to reflect that somehow. Nottingham City centre is pritty much surrounded by poor council estates £18 is crazy. A good or great mechanic can do a puncture very fast to a great standard, I think 👍

I checked out some Google reviews for the two offending bike shops and not great reviews, to say the least. I definitely agree with you that some sort of contact and information would may help, especially if the owners are getting reoccurring issues from the same staff. Maybe train or replace. Or have bikes signed off by the qualified ones if the inexperienced ones have done the work 🤔

@@BikeShedBoy Yes, I agree,but sometimes hearing from another shop also helps, providing of course the owner truly cares about his customers and his business.

@christopherwilson4003 seems like not so much around Nottingham mate 🙄. However, Bikeworks are bloody and fantastic to donate new disks and pads to help her. I'm definitely going to get 100% more involved with them and community projects 👍

​@BikeShedBoy I used to work in a bike shop . I'm no bike mechanic. But could do most things . I'd be wanting some firm words with so called mechanics .You look broken as well mate

@christopherwilson4003 mate I have so many projects I want to get done and many videos I want to share. This bike put me behind, and my dining room looks like a bike shop shop, and the bike shed girl is not happy. No ones fault at all other than the two bike shops. But yea, I felt a little defeted solely because that could have been one of my loved ones. Someone in a bike shop did not care about it. Onwards and upwards. The next build is half done, so I'll be back to my happy self in the next video in two days. 👍 It's a right stinker 🤣

I have seen the guys that work in the two shops, and I am sure they sleep well at night, mate. However, I would like to see what the owners thought of the work they are putting out. Shocking, in my opinion 👍

@St-91-3 I will tell you something, mate. I am considering becoming self-employed, given what I am seeing coming out of bike shops. I will for sure look after this lady. I would be over the moon if someone like her was looking after a family member in need. Bikeworks was amazing in covering the replacement parts free of charge for her 👍

@GreenFingerHandyman I agree, mate 👍 everyone needs a good set of brakes, especially when getting around a city. I am glad you have a good local shop to use 👍

@johnwilson230 it's not the first time, mate. I have had people contact me through friends and have horror stories, and OMG, this was a horror. They let it out the shop many times and sent her on her way. I was a little angry about this bike and was never going to be a video. I think I will be contacting the shop to either discuss or offer some insight into what they have let happen 👍

@@BikeShedBoy I was speakeing to someone who works for dare I say it halfords. He said they have limited time per each job.. what's the saying times money so they cram so many in cutting corners they don't care as the jobs are done and no one. Is breathing down there knecks bike done out the door next please. There just young kids the other week I went halfords to get some brake cables this young snotty 16 old sporty iv just left school twat came back with brake pads that I didn't ask for cables.. not much difference this why I have and never bike shops ect to lay a finger on my bike its like playing Russian roulett with your life. I don't no if but surely there must be some sort of standard in place and checks made. All the best buddy love your content and your neighbour from leicester. Take care

Cheers mate 👍 I think I will write both shops a letter and also give them the video link so they can hopefully learn something from this. The lady can now get out safe and sound to help others. It's not a video I like to make because I felt super angry that they kept letting this get through the door.

@@BikeShedBoy Its not to be taken lightly safety and yeah let them know,i will say my friend who owns a car mot centre failed a car and told them something was dangerous and the people and their friends was threatening my mate online 😂how crazy are some people

@Gold2thGaming that's crazy mate. Well, he did his job, and that's great. Unsafe is unsafe regardless of how they will take it. The lady said no one had informed her about the brakes at all. Not once. Ruined my day had loads planned but had to sort it for her, and now she is safe, so I am happy regardless. There is no charge for this at all. She can get back out helping people who need it, so 100% worth the effort ❤️

@Gold2thGaming mate, some people and shops are just crap, filled with crap staff that don't care 😔. We got her sorted and a massive thanks to bikeworks for the free parts to get her on the road again. Definitely faith restored 👍

I totally agree, mate. I have been teaching my 13 year old lad for a while and can now do most jobs on a bike. Hopefully, he gets it, but then he loves helping out and doing stuff. It's sure a shame what I have seen from bike shops locally lately. Not great at all 😒

I know, mate, they should have informed her of the brakes for sure. Had to help her and also ask for help from Ian at bike works. Otherwise, I would have had to say not to ride. At least the lady can get back to helping others now 👍

When I worked at IKON building motorcycle shocks , I would build them as I was going to fit them to my own motorbike. Safety first.

@Willdlans I always look at the stuff I do and look at it as you do. Would I put my own family on this bike, and if its no its not going out the door. I'll do no work and make them walk if it's so unsafe. it is going to threaten the life of the rider and others. 100% safety first 👍

Most bike shops should do a second check if they have an unexperienced staff member working on the bike!

Yea, I agree mate 👍 wages are not great for the more experienced mechanics, and the young ones are cheap, but they should have the work second checked at the very least 👍

Yea, mate. they are usually 2 letters. If I remember, the first letter is for the year and second the month 🤔 or maybe the other way round.
