    Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. It's important to acknowledge that not everyone is equal and that everyone has different strengths and areas for improvement. As you noted, it's essential to provide constructive feedback and to do so in a timely manner, so individuals have the opportunity to reflect and make adjustments to their behavior. However, it's also important to approach feedback in a way that is constructive, supportive and timely. It's essential to acknowledge and appreciate the high-performing person's strengths and contributions, while also providing specific feedback on areas where they could improve. My point, is it possible that the peers withhold information unconsciously because they felt intimidated or inferior to the high-performing person. There is a human aspect that is always assessing risk,threats and opportunities. In this case, I would say that you failed to create a culture where everyone feels comfortable sharing feedback in a timely manner and contributing to the team's success. Overall, creating a culture of open and constructive feedback is essential for individual and organizational growth. It's important to acknowledge individuals' strengths and contributions while also providing specific feedback on areas where they can improve.

      Thank you for your comments. The purpose of this particular video was to address the potential cost of withholding feedback. Hallett Leadership has posted many blogs and videos on feedback, and we completely agree that such feedback can and should address both strengths and opportunities for growth. We all have blind spots, and while some of them pertain to areas for improvement, others relate to strengths of which we may not be aware. There are many reasons people have for withholding feedback. As noted above, in this video we wanted to focus on the the potential cost of withholding. The incident we highlighted took place in the midst of a nine-month accelerated leadership program designed to teach the participants (through the Discovery Model) how to lead, including how to create a culture where everyone feels comfortable sharing feedback. At the point in the program where this occurred, the team was still learning many things about creating and maintaining a high-performance culture. We don't expect everyone to come into the program and automatically accept that the program environment is safe. So we work with the group to build mutual trust and respect, and over time the environment and culture evolve. Often times, our greatest breakthroughs come about as a result of breakdowns - which nearly always are breakdowns of fixed beliefs and fixed behaviors that we have each developed over the course of our lives. So, we could look at the moment in time highlighted in the video and refer to it as a failure, as you call it -- and we have no issue with that. We learn from our failures, and can assure you this cohort learned from this experience, realized the importance of feedback, and had a much better understanding going forward on just how to create the safe environment that we all agree is essential to a high-performance culture.

      If you wish, you can use the matrix to track your progress by indicating which blind spots you identify and which areas of your private self you become more comfortable sharing. The key, however, is to ask for feedback and to share more about you, as each of those will move more of who you are into the public self, allowing you to show up more authentically (i.e., bring more of who you are into the moment).

    by far the hardest part of fasting is the boredom. If you've never done a multiday fast, you have no idea the enormous amount of your daily time is spent thinking about, preparing, or eating food. Depending on your lifestyle, it can be really hard to fill all that extra free time. If you want a fast to be easy, start it when you are very busy

    My intention is eating healthier, however I struggle to turn intention into consistent action

    • @deanhallett5906
      @deanhallett5906 3 роки тому

      Hi Holly. If we want to see our intention, all we have to do is look at our results. Intention is more than willpower. Most of our intention is driven by our subconscious or unconscious self. Throughout our lives we form fixed beliefs and behaviors that are over 90% driven by our subconscious. To break free, we must break through these fixed beliefs and behaviors to reveal our authentic self. And the more conscious and aware we are of our authentic self, the more we consciously choose our intention. A simple example is if someone (not saying you) has a fixed belief at some level that they are unworthy of love, that unworthiness at a subconscious level is more likely to drive eating habits than conscious willpower.

    • @deanhallett5906
      @deanhallett5906 3 роки тому

      @@hollysullivan9244 It is a journey of self-discovery, and a very rewarding journey. I formed a lot of fixed beliefs and behaviors in my early years, and was lucky enough at age 21 to participate in what today would be referred to as an emotional intelligence training. I currently use those same tools I gained back then to help business teams shift into high-performance, and the breakthrough process is the same for an individual's personal growth. It is a process of continual improvement. The process that leads to breaking through starts with raising our self awareness so that we can see and challenge our current belief system.
