Iron Lung
The journey begins with fiending
aggravated restless erratic and unsteady
thinking only of the heater
Oh where for art though heater?
Thou most blessed and sanctimonious inhalations
Then it comes the first one divine
We sit here in the truck for days
just sitting and smoking
sitting and smoking
sitting and smoking
all day all night
all day all night
We take the heat
We take the heater
We take the heater
That vapor smoke heat heat heater
sometimes we play chess
sometimes friends come over
and we all just sit and smoke
and sit and smoke
we talk about things like
what precisely it is like to burn alive
or what is the fourth dimension in one word
or we silently write poetry
then read it aloud after a heater
then music to enhance the ring
the ring is no longer a ring
but the voice sounds tin canny yes
we can tolerate so much heat
but occasionally we pass out
for a few seconds is all
no one knows what we do
no one is allowed to know
no one is no one is no one
but it is true
