Great show, sorry NO to Self service, I hate using them. Excellent point about wholesaler’s making money especially when online shop can usually beat them on price, that’s why so many of them have improved the service they give especially the independent.

I think for wholesalers sometimes getting the basics right first is important, reliability, good stock of basics, quick turnaround on order items, quick turnaround on quotes. Better online tools… me being able to open up a job, build a materials list, upload drawings for lighting plans etc then getting a price for a job that I can then use but getting it done quickly. For me personally I’d rather pay an extra few quid for stuff if I know it’s quality gear that saves me headache and time on the job.

I think the switches are from Hager, they have a loop terminal on their light switches which you can put neutrals in if you’re looping at the switch

Self service. Thats a NO from me. Too many people with sticky fingers. However a click and collect service at a locker outside the wholesaler like an Amazon locker, now that could work. Eg place order by 5pm and if stock it is in the locker to collect till 10pm or something.

I guess you either evolve or die. CEF have put their money where their mouth is and have invested heavily into their online, next day delivery and renewables sectors… Say what you like about them you’ll be hard to knock them. Doesn’t mean they’re not going to fail. It could all come down…

Great show. Electricians are probably the most smartest of all the trades, however instead of embracing the CPS like NICEIC/NAPIT and working with them to make the government change legislation so that all insurance companies must have a valid EICR from a CPS stored on one central database which is linked to the persons carrying out the scope of works for all types property before issuing yearly insurance certificates. Instead too many of us complain about the yearly subscript fee which in my opinion is great value for money, especially the CPD you can obtain from webinar. This could move our industry to a fully protected Electrician scheme over the next 10 years. just saying.
