Hi there! Is this a direct fit with the OBMT crash bars or you had to make modifications to fit this CamelAdv high Fender kit?
I had to make modifications. 1/2” spacers between the camel mounting plate and fender, and drilled new holes in the fender further back to get it to fit right.
Do you think this is worth looking at with OEM exhaust or wait until after upgrading?
I would not bother with a tune on stock exhaust if you plan on changing exhaust at some point. Reason being that you only get 1 free map with the Upmap purchase. You would have to pay for a second map once you get the aftermarket exhaust.
Do the chest pockets allow for any armor padding?
No, they do not.
Thanks, got a few new ideas from your list 👍🏻
Glad you found it helpful!
tanhks, did you felt a real difference with the engine (power) ?
A little bit of a power increase, but mostly better drivability and better throttle response.
Great review. Thanks bro, I'm buying the pants ASAP
Glad it helped out!
Thanks for posting, very useful to know, Ive a new bike and it is great in every way apart from jerky response down at low rpm in 1st and 2nd so I might consider this.
It’s well worth it for the throttle response.
Where did you buy the 27mm axel nut, can you provide a link please?
I got mine from Belmetric. Part number NFF20X1.5CLZ. I believe KTM rear axle nuts will also fit.
Did you happen to notice the bike running a bit cooler now that it's not as lean as with the OEM map?
To be honest I’ve never had any issue with the heat coming off the bike to begin with. But no, a tune will not change the temp the bike runs at. There is a cooler thermostat that AF1 offers now that may help out though.
Awesome video, i wanted to ask, would you recommend this bike as a first time rider? just got my permit and really love the looks of this bike and everything about it. Thanks!
It’s an easy bike to ride and could certainly be a good first bike. The learning curve for a bigger bike like this would be shorter though if you started off with something a bit smaller/lighter. Even for 6 months just to nail some of the basics and to feel comfortable on two wheels. Having said that, my first bike was a zx-6r 636 haha
Thanks for the video and taking the time to demonstrate with/without the baffle 👍 Sounds great especially without!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
you mentioned the kriega foot rest eliminator being from the T7, was that because you had a T7 before? i’m wondering if the kriega OS Tenere base will fit decently on the Tuareg. i might be switching between the two bikes shortly.
No, the reason I purchased one for the T7 was because at the time Kriega did not make a Tuareg specific eliminator. I believe they do now though. I can’t help on that second question regarding the base though.
The only problem is that they do not make pants that would fit someone that would wear the XL, XXL or XXXL jackets.
I believe they go up to a 42”. I’m not sure what other brands offer in the larger sizes.
I just got the XXXL jacket and 42 pants and they fit great.
best sounding tuareg in yt
Thank you!
Did you have to retune the map for this de-cat to work to delete the O2 sensors?
The O2 sensors are still installed. I ran without a tune for about 5 months and it ran fine. I’ve since installed the Gabro tune and it runs even better.
RE replacing shift lever bolt and brake lever bolt- I had a light tip over on pavement and immediately snapped my OEM shift bolt. It should be the first T660 mod and buy the highest quality titanium from AF1.
Yeah the OEM bolt is not good. I swapped mine out as a preventative mod.
Nicely done. The Tuareg has been on my radar for a while, and all the "weak points" you seem to have addressed. Would you be willing to update us on your current ownership experience?
Thanks, it’s a great bike. I’ve made a few more modifications since this video. I’m over 6k miles on it now and it’s been a really fun 6k, I put 70/30 tires in it a bit ago and it’s transformed the off road handling. Road handling is still quite good even on knobbies. As long as the dealer network doesn’t concern you then absolutely pull the trigger on a Tuareg.
@@AstronautAdventureRiders my nearest dealer is about 2,500 miles away, thus, I’ve stayed away….time will tell
Great video
Thank you!
Hi, Do you have a link to the axle wrench you mentioned “Ivan”???
I don’t have a direct link for it, he sells them from his Facebook account. If you join the ‘Aprilia Tuareg 660 Owners Group’ and search for Ivan Gligorijevic. He has a few posts about the axle wrench he makes.
any HP gains with the exhaust? dose it feel more powerful ? the manufacture claims around 7
I haven’t had it dyno’d so I can’t say how much for sure it increased. But going by the good ol’ butt dyno I can definitely say there is a power increase.
Hey there, what screen deflector r u using?, it looks really nice and clear. I use a Puig and it's horrible, not optically correct and I cannot see anything through it. I did put it on top of the Puig taller windscreen.
Interesting, mine is the PUIG medium deflector. Not the 2.0 version though. Just the clip on one. It’s been great for me. Mines just on the factory windscreen.
@@AstronautAdventureRiders Perhaps there is something wrong with mine then. 🤔
Awesome countryside, awesome dirt roads. Does anyone live there? 😀 Don't recall you passing any cars out there, Were you using Stock tires?
Thanks! Yeah it’s great riding out that way. It’s mostly farms in that area and I only came across 1 other vehicle on the dirt roads. I’m using the Tusk 2Track tires both front and rear.
The most important thing that has to come off are the tires. Shit on the road and even worse off-road
I found the STR's to be pretty good on road, but yes off road they were not good at all. I've since switched to the Tusk 2Track. I will be doing a review of them at some point once I have enough time with them.
I have had very good experience with STRs on my T660 on road. I did switch over to Motoz Adventure for offroad, they are not good on road. All is a compromise............
It is also having a bit more peace of mind that with the Upmap the bike is running correctly. Installing a full exhaust system without tuning to ensure it's not running lean for me is a bit pointless, especially if still under warranty. Keep up the good work👍
Absolutely agree with that!
thanks for the video, can you revert back to factory without issues? for any warranty issues?
Yes, you can reinstall factory map.
Thanks @AstronautAdventuresRiders. I am sitting on a Upmat, but have not installed it since I am not in a hurry to do that right now. It was helpful to understand the benefits to torque and throttle response. Going tot wait some more and maybe in a couple months will put it on.
I just got back from a 2 day camp trip and after a good amount of mileage I would say it’s absolutely worth doing the tune. Especially for off-road situations, smoother throttle makes it easier to use.
thanks dude love more Data
Of course man, thanks for watching!
thanks for great job!
Thanks for watching!
2 more reasons for not getting a tune. Warranty. Quality of tunes are very varied.
If you’ve gotten to the point of putting a full exhaust on the bike, you’ve more than likely already voided the warranty anyways. But this tune does allow you to go back to factory tune if you did have warranty issues.
@AstronautAdventureRiders thankfully aprilia aust have no issues with the exhaust (I checked with 4 different dealers) as long as it doesn't throw codes. A tune was a no go they said. As the warranty lasts till 2029 I was super keen not to void it.
Hi! Great video. You may want to check skid plate mounting plate (the black plate that connects to the engine) clearance with the water pump. In my first install I used the wrong spacer, one is 15mm the other is 20mm, the 20mm one should go in the clutch side. I also added some extra washers for extra clearance.
Yeah I’ve heard people had issues with those. I triple checked mine on install to make sure I had it right! Haha
Thank you for sharing. Honestly a bit disappointed in the results. Too close to be meaningful. However, better throttle response sounds nice. I love the bike overall, but agree that it is a little lacking in throttle response and low end torque, especially at higher elevation. The factory lag does prevent whiskey throttle for novices, but really holds back more experienced riders. I'll probably hold back on tuning modules for now, in hopes for better options. I've considered gearing down, but don't want to loose top end. FYI, all 3 parts of our most recent ride are now posted on our channel. We tested Amphibious Mode. 😂
I knew it wouldn't be much of a difference in terms of power, the main reasons for me was to just have better/correct fueling and that in turn provided the much smoother throttle. There is definitely some more torque down low with the tune which is nice. I just finished the first episode, I'll check out the other two as well!
@@AstronautAdventureRiders The torque improvement is tempting.
I have a 2022. Installed a Leo Vince slip on and a Unifilter with PC racing filter skins. I feel more pull / tourqe though out the full range. Pipe is a lot cooler now. 10,000 km and no issues. But was wondering if a tune would help even more.
Really great and helpful video. Thanks so much. I also really liked the tool roll video! Thanks!!!
Thanks! Glad you found them helpful!
@AstronautAdventureRiders - what skid plate do you have on there? Just bought a 660 and need to replace the stock one
I’m using Outback Motortek
@@AstronautAdventureRiders do you recommend? Or wish you'd have picked something else?
@@pinnacleroofing9841 I’m happy with it, however there have been other people on forums that prefer other brands. There’s a Tuareg owners group on Facebook that has some good posts about skid plates if you are looking for more options and other viewpoints.
Bike sounds so good I forgot to listen to your review. Now, I want one of those. Thanks
Thank you haha The sound is addicting for sure!
Nice job on the video, man! We have a number of videos on the Tuareg 660 on our channel as well. We have similar taste...glueing the windscreen bolts, OM crash bars, titanium shifter bolt, euro front signal stalks, etc. 🙂 I just ordered the Uni filter from AF1. Would love to see you do an air filter video since nobody else seems to have a good one on UA-cam yet! It's on our "to-do" list...but we've got a looong list of videos to do before we get to it...HA! - Chris
Thank you! Yes, it sure seems that we do haha I am planning to do that video soon. So stay tuned for that. I will have to check out your Tuareg videos as well!

Stellar information!
Thank you!
Great video… I will be using your format for my kit except I will be using a waterproof tool holder. Thanks for all the tips, I especially liked your long screwdriver attachments for the air box. Good thinking.
Appreciate the feedback! Glad it was helpful!
Where did you order the shift support bracket from?
MotoMachines.com Solid piece, I put Bel Ray Waterproof grease on the needle bearings for it. Been great so far.
Doesn’t the bike run rather lean with the Gabro map?
I don’t have the Gabro map yet so I couldn’t say for sure. It’s supposed to improve the overall fueling so it may well lean it out in certain rpm/load situations.
Appreciate your review content very much: highlighting pros, cons, and especially details on fit. Ordering this gear online is always hit or miss.
I appreciate the feedback! Good to know it’s been helpful. I agree, it’s always a bit of a gamble!
ANother great video my man, I'd love to see what setup you are using for your helmet cam and mic.
Thank you! I am planning on doing a video on that setup this week.
Hey there... new sub here and very much enjoying your content. Question regarding the excursion bags. I bought those and have them in the garage now and I was about to send them back because I feel like they don't sit on the bike appropriately. How were you able to make yours fit so well. Did you make new holes in the base plate and adjust the positioning of the bags in order to allow for them to hang over the sides better?
I used the existing holes provided for them. The one spot where there are multiple holes to select for the ‘angle adjustment’ I used the hole that was straight in line with the other 2. (One closest to the corner) The SW Motech luggage rack I use also has a curve to it on the sides which I think helps the bags lay a little nicer. I can send you a picture on Instagram for clarity if you send me a message on there. Hope that helps and thanks for the sub and support!
So glad I found this video. I have the same bag and I was curious how it would fit the Tuareg.
Glad it was helpful! It’s a solid bag and I use it for most of my rides.
I am a true 34" waist and the 36 Legend barely fits me there. That's okay because the rest is loose enough to move my big legs around. Tough pants and good off-road. Not the most ventilated MC pants in the world, but I only paid $100 at RM and it's great value
Thanks for the input on sizing! I agree, they could be more ventilated but they are very durable. I picked them up when they were first released and they had a sale on them for around $75
Thanks! Looks like pretty decent kit, so I will definitely check them out. By the way, are those the legend gloves you're wearing? How are they holding up?
Thanks! The gloves are the MSR ADV Air gloves. Had them for over a year and they’re holding up very well.
Great video, I have a similar setup with the Tusk Highland X2 bags. What are you using in place of the passenger pegs on the Tuareg to attach the Tusk straps? Is it aftermarket?
Thank you! I’m using the Kriega footrest eliminator. I have a video going over all the mods on the bike, and in that video there are some more close up shots of it. And I go into some more details about them.
