Are X-Rays Produced From Plasma Compression?
This is my attempt in capturing if x-rays are produced from my theta pinch plasma compression videos. I had to rebuild the circuit and retest everything but this time, I can control everything remotely. For that I used a raspberry pi with a relay board and I controlled everything through SSH.

    What would be the advantage to rapping the copper around a ferrite material? Would this increase the electromagnetic repulsion direction?

    Isnt this technically theta pinch? I thought z pinch was the tendency of arcs to form streamers due to the magnetic fields of the particles movement drawing them together

      Good question. . . this happened: ua-cam.com/video/XN-CNPJ22KY/v-deo.html So I built a charge controller using this method and it worked for years, then I used it in this experiment and well it kinda blew up.

      @@noobstopped The charge controller worked no problem, it was the relay being stuck closed or the raspberry pi code error that caused the relay to close. That caused the charge controller to turn on and charge the capacitors. Lesson learned, make sure to have a brighter charging indicator.

    Will a smaller jar help with lack of voltage? I can only get a transformer from my microwave oven and its only about 2kV output.

    • @NeutronStudios1
      @NeutronStudios1 5 місяців тому

      Its not the lack of voltage, but how low can you get the pressure inside of the vacuum chamber. 2kV transformer should be enough, but you would need to rectify it first. But I dont recommend you try unless you know 100% of what you are doing. A taser would be a better replacement for demonstrations and it is more forgiving if you make a mistake.

      This guy has a full explanation: ua-cam.com/video/enId-kWrdz4/v-deo.html This video has no explanation but a working fuser: ua-cam.com/video/92M5qcjDkaU/v-deo.html You need high voltage DC for this to work, the positive on the outer core and negative on the inner. That way the positive ions get accelerated to the center and with high enough energy the Deuterium ions can fuse, but you would need at least 100 kV and the optimum concentration of deuterium gas in the vacuum chamber. My experiment was supplied with a 20 kV flyback transformer with ZVS driver, since the voltage drops when the arc was formed, and there was a relatively high pressure in the chamber, the voltage drop might be less than 3 kV. Also, I used air as the gas inside the chamber. I used titanium wire to produce the light effect, I thought that was pretty cool.

    Check out how someone is making a Golden Ratio spiral using Tesla coils at specific currents and frequencies. I suspect its a demonstration of Plasma effecting itself through some carefully timed fields. I forget the dudes name but should be easy to find. He can make various types of discharges from the coil using different combinations of frequencies and currents so perhaps looking into it can give a little inspiration for further work as an AC discharge would cause an expanding and collapsing magnetic field to setup conditions where you might be able to produce some interesting effects in controlling the plasma in low pressure. If those dudes can do it in open air I am confident much could be done in low pressure. I always theorized a Fusor without the inner grid and recent looks at these plasma toroid's makes me even more confident in my old assumptions.

      @mooneym.3642 8 місяців тому

      Thanks for replying sir but I feel my question deserves some explanation. I am a student of plasma physics. Plasma is categorized into three types, hot, cold and thirdly the 'warm' plasma type in which the electrons carry the most energy. My question was practically how can you manipulate plasma so that its 'warm'. Maybe by altering the spark gap and/or adjusting the amperes or frequency? Or maybe by blowing air or with magnetic field?

    Who warned you of x-rays at 3 kV?!? Asides from the fact that it's extremely unlikely to generate x-rays at that acceleration voltage (albeit not impossible), they'd be of extremely low photon energy. I might add that if you manage to generate x-rays of < 3 keV photon energy, I doubt your x-ray screen would emit any light from it. P.S. Subscribed!

    If the intensifying screen won't work out, I would imagine a Scintillation crystal tube and the Pi-camera behind it to detect the energy from the scintillate (i.e. re-emit the absorbed energy in the form of light). There might be an issue with visible light getting through, but with a Beryllium screen in front, it is possible to block visible photons. As a metal, beryllium is transparent or translucent to most wavelengths of X-rays and gamma rays, making it useful for the output windows of X-ray tubes and other such apparatus - so it would also be useful as an input window. You could also test the sensitivity using a natural ionizing emitter, say using Uranium glass - as Uranium 238 is a beta emitter. Looking forward to the next video :ø) Edit: If you 'just' want to confirm x-rays, using 'just' a Beryllium screen in front of the pi CCD sensor ought to do the trick (remove all lenses, IR filters, etc, so the chip is exposed for maximum sensitivity). The Scintillation crystal could in theory work like a lens, but I'm not 100% on that, but it will definitively detect ionizing radiation and give off visible light for the camera to see. I would recommend reading "The suitability of smartphone camera sensors for detecting radiation" in Scientific Reports from Nature, to shed some light on the subject ;ø) Beware if going this route, Beryllium isn't your friend - so handle with utmost care..

    Awesome channel very cool project. Woundt the coils benefit from some steel or other ferromagnetic naterial to focus the field towards the tube something likeca hallbach array ifvthat would work with electromagnets maybe put the coils inside the tube to get them closer the the plasma since magnetic field loose alot of strength over distance. Maybe have more then one compression stage put 2 coils that fire in rapid succesion

  • @engjds
    @engjds Рік тому

    Look at the Bennet Pinch equation, in fusion reactors they only use high current plasmas which naturally concentrates the beam, the gas inlet/injector is also made very narrow at high gas pressure rates to drive the concentration further BUT, this will EAT the cathode/anode emitter collector, so exotic materials will have to be used, i.e. tungsten, beryllium, iridium etc.

  • @engjds
    @engjds Рік тому

    Another thought: you need to make the field winding as close to a pancake design as possible to concentrate the field, and/or a big ferrite would be useful (use a high power torroidal transformer core and secondary windings)assuming here you are striving towards fusion.

    • @NeutronStudios1
      @NeutronStudios1 Рік тому

      Good point, Im not sure how the coil would survive the high current pulse, but thats a quick and easy test.

  • @engjds
    @engjds Рік тому

    Good work!, I didn't realise the amount of magnetic field required to compress, thats very high!, alternative viewpoint here, instead of increasng turns and current on the field, why not use a high-current plasma set up instead, so the main field will interact more strongly with the windings? I am thinking like the high current-low voltage setup of a tig welder or plasma cutter, maybe 100A @ 60v in free space with insulated+heat protected windings ? This can be achieved using graphite rods to initiate the plasma as they do in plasma arc furnaces. (Graphite rods cheap off ebay)
