I have a question I have a 2002 dyna wide glide. My automatic cancelling signal lights do not cancel. the turn signal module 68920-01a cannot find anywhere Harley said they are obsolete. Do have any suggestions for me
Any luck getting a manual for a 2000 HD electric glide flht. I took apart my biketi paint and took pictures but recently lost those pics🤦

You also did not mention - when checking oil, do I push the dipstick all the way in, or leave the rubber plug sitting atop the opening?
@@mfsmfs63 thanks for the comment and thanks for watching ride safe
I have oil coming from the seal where the crankshaft comes into the primary where the stator is but the oil takes a long time to start leaking it seems to fill up behind the seal and runs over the top of the lower side of seal the seal is not tight around crankshaft. Am I missing something help !!!!
@@opieg7018 Sorry to hear your having a problem. If the seal is leaking and loose it definitely needs to be replaced. Without knowing what year and model you have I can't be anymore helpful. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for your video. I recently changed my oil tank draining pipe. Got the job done fine. Filled it back up with oil to the right level. Been riding around fine, till the other day on my way home from work and exactly what you said happened to me dip stick popped off as I pulled away from a round about. Dip stick popped out hit my leg oil all down the side of my bike 🤦♂️ but thanks for the video. Now I know what to do. 😎👍
@@howtodo7144 Glad the video helped. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
This is really helpful, thank you. What did you use for the sleeve that supports the inner main race?
Nevermind, found the answer in another commment: Measure and get a pipe cut. Thanks again!
I used a small round bit from my press. It fit the shoulder of the inner race perfectly. Thanks for watching and ride safe
I’m running out of opinions. My bike vibrates pretty bad when I’m getting on it. Not at an ideal. I was told my main shaft could be bent my cranks outta wack and so on. Soon as I pull my clutch in it ideals down and goes away. In your option what are the odds it’s the shaft? 96 fatboy evo
That's not good, it could be a bent main shaft. But when a main shaft is bent it usually causes shifting problems or just blows the trans apart. I would start at the rear wheel, check for alignment, bearings, bent rim, bad axle, warped rotor, bend drive pulley, bad tire, swingarm bushings and make sure everything is tightened correctly. Check for bend frame or swingarm. Than start moving forward and check motor mounts. Hope this helps.
A little update with my Main Drive Gear outer bearing and seal. I cut a piece of pipe, ground down the threads and cut to an inch and a half length. This pipe fits in the 5th gear opening, and slides over the mainshaft. I slipped that to the bearing, put the belt sprocket nut on, slipped the sleeve on from the race installation tool. I put an 8 inch 3 jaw puller with the 3 jaws on the belt sprocket nut, and the thrust part on washers at the end of the race installation tool. I tightened the tool, pulling against the belt sprocket nut, that pushed the bearing into the main drive gear. That gave me clearance to install the oil seal. I used the race installation tool and tapped the seal lightly into place. Maybe the bearing will walk out again, we'll see. But everything turns smoothly.
Glad you found away to make it work. Thanks for keeping me updated.
@@tinkeringwithharleys thanks for all the information!! Applied a few of your tricks through the job so far!

Does the transmission usually have difficulty shifting when putting in a new pawl? I looked like it gave you some work. I ask because I replaced mine and went to test prior to torquing and buttoning up. Mine 95 Evo tranny seems to have difficulty floating through the gears. Any suggestions? FYI the eccentric screw that is on this bike isn't the right one looking at it from the inner prime. Instead of an Allen it's a 1/4" drive head. The screw goes in fine and has the offset machined point. Any advice greatly appreciated
@@ericgutierrez8028 usually when you change anything in the trans and you test it by spinning it by hand it's a little stiff. But as long as it goes through all the gears up and down it's usually fine. Remember that when the bike is running the trans spins much faster than it does by hand. The eccentric screw you have as long as it's off set at the same as the original you shouldn't have a problem as long as it's adjusted properly. Thanks for watching and ride safe
@@tinkeringwithharleys next question for you. Does the cam flower have a good amount of tension on it? I noticed on videos that the cam flower when engaged on the drum seems to be locked in pretty decently in the grove. My flower comes out of the gear grove very easily, which is leading me to believe that the spring needs to be replaced. Your thoughts?
@@ericgutierrez8028 I'm assuming your referring to the shift detent. The spring can weaken over time and use. They usually lock in pretty tight as you up and down shift. If you have any doubts about the tension or roller replace them while you have everything accessible. It's a pain to put everything back together than find out you have to take it apart again for a spring.
Cool I like the pipes and they sound good
Yep it sounds good and runs good. Did you get your parts ordered?
Yes Ordered a cam cover , Cam Bearing and the oil pump I wanted Polished be 2 months so they are sending a Black Wrinkle . everything be in by the 12th . See it has been 120 in your area thats Hot . Texas 115 was scorching in the 1980s

Hope you had a great 4th , I road on the 4 and 5 everything was great went out today my engine puking oil out till it went bone dry in under 8 miles I trailered it home , Im thinking of going back to stock lol going to check my oil pump I had 40 psi so its pumping out oil , but is my breather or scavenger goofing up S&S reed breather and a high flow pump . fit to be tied 300 plus miles since i did the cam and lifters . had zero leak down and 195 compression on both jugs .
Hi JC, they cancelled the 4th festivities here do to heat. It's been over a 100 for 3 weeks straight now and getting hotter each day. This has never happened before. So no riding for me. Man your having a time with that engine. The only thing I can think of is 1 of the umbrella valves is bad or you have a clogged return. May have had a piece of metal floating around in there from you're cam bushing going out and it's lodged somewhere.
@@tinkeringwithharleys For 300 miles everything was great it run like a champ , I check the oil Cold before I ride then when I get home hot and its been fine right on the dipstick lines , did it today my pan was full got 8 miles and stop I seen oil on my bag and leg the pan was bone dry . in 8 miles . I do not think its the pump it was showing 20 PSI if it was sumping you think it do it each time i went out . not wait and hit miss ? by not scavenging . Im tearing it down pull the pump look it over I do not think its that . then the rockers to look up top umbrellas . im stumped unless the pump is failing then working and failing then working . it started puking with the S&S reed valve i took it as a norm on hot days .
@@JCcanU I had one about 2 years ago doing the same thing. I didn't do the original work on it and it was a TC. It had previously had a chain tensioner come apart. Was taken apart and cleaned out by someone else and put back together. Ran great for about a month than started puking oil. I dug into it and some pieces of the tensioner plugging the oil vent line and some small pieces in the return in the rear head. Cleaned everything out. It solved the problem. Good luck with this brother.
@@tinkeringwithharleys A bushing pin on the Cam cover got in the oil pump broke the scavenger gears all the pieces are accounted for
@@JCcanU great so you found it and got all the pieces. Glad it wasn't more involved. 👍
Hey there!! I hope all is well by you!! I have my 85 FXRS all apart (well inner primary off!) Tapered and keyed mainshaft. I am trying to get my 5th gear seal in. It looks like there is not enough room in the recess to seat the 5th gear seal. I did that trick you showed loosening the nut on the other side of the shaft and tapping it to be able to put the race puller on the race. Tightened it hand tight, I know it gets torqued 27-33 foot pounds, tapped the shaft back. My problem is I can't get the 5th gear seal to seat. Just checking, the seal seats with the metal side out ? Is there a chance the bearing walked out to take away room for the 5th gear seal? Is there a way to tap them back or the shaft to get more room in there? The old seal was just hanging when I removed the race. Thanks !
Sorry to hear your having a problem, removing and replacing the 5th gear seal on the bike is a giant pain in the ass. If the old 5th gear seal was hanging out when you took it apart chances are the bearing itself is not seated and has walked out and pushed the 5th gear seal out. If this is the case the bearing is shot and needs to be replaced. There is no way to seat the bearing while the gear set is in the trans. This is a very unusual condition. This usually only happens when the bearings have been replaced and haven't been properly installed. But from what you've told me that's what it sounds like. I wish I had something more positive to tell you, but that's the only time I've seen this happen. Hope this helps.

I have the feuling plate and oil pump in my bike and lost all oil pressure. Any idea if the valve sticking could cause total loss of pressure? And also are the feuling pumps prone to any failure? Thanks in advance
If the pressure relief valve is stuck open it would cause loss of oil pressure but probably not a total loss. Usually total is caused by something else like oil pump failure. I've seen all makes of oil pumps fail for various reasons. The most common reasons I've seen are debris running through the pump and also to great of pinion shaft run out. The motor is out of a 93 fxdwg it's in a 86 Electra glide. I'm not really sure what year the trans is. The 6 speed had a race on the main shaft behind the clutch basket, the 5 speed didn't have that . If that helps identify the years.
I'm not sure what year or anything about the 6sp but it fit in it:) works except for the grinding in N. I can send pic .

Off the top of my head I can't, but I would also need year and model and transmission type to tell you. Thanks for watching and ride safe
Excellent tip, thanks!! Also, it was awesome to see you 'hand-turning' the puller instead of using an impact gun. Hand-turning any puller always gets the sleeve or bearing moving much better than an impact which often destroys the puller while leaving the bearing stuck. Obviously, you've learned that long ago too. Much respect, brother.
Thanks for the comment. I always hand turn everything. I like to feel what I'm doing. Only use a impact on things that need a impact. Thanks for watching and ride safe
