Switch 2: Dual Screen Gaming Comeback
The New Super Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever they call it, has the potential to bring all of Nintendo's greatest games and craziest gimmicks back to the modern gamer. Do kids these days want to play those old games? Not really. But kids don't have money - I do! Well, I did, before buying a house and having a kid, but I still want to give Nintendo what little I have left! I'll buy Nintendo Land again, I swear, despite owning two Wii U consoles.
With all the Nintendo leaks lately, I can't stop thinking about it. No one is talking about what the new controllers will be like, and I doubt they're going to blow us away, but I can dream. The leaks suggest it will still be a portable console with a TV mode, and it will have some decent resolution scaling technology like DLSS. But could it work in dual screen mode? Could pointer controls make a return? Where are the official, unique retro JoyCons?
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are AWKWARD without the N64 C-buttons. GameCube games were designed around the unique face buttons and triggers of the GameCube controller. Instead of retro controllers for sale like they have now, make them JoyCon style and include a little middle piece for connecting them during TV play.
I miss the sensor bar. I miss what made the Wii U great.

3 Quick Tips for Mastering the Ultrahand in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Everything I’m showing in this video is from the very beginning of the game, but if you’re sensitive to having really basic game mechanics spoiled, well, probably don’t click on this type of video. But hey, leave a like on your way out. All 3 tips involve the Ultrahand ability, which has been shown off by Nint...
It took me 25 YEARS to beat Chrono Trigger
Переглядів 1,2 тис.3 роки тому
Chrono Trigger is the first game I ever owned for the Super Nintendo. I bought it when I was 9 years old, and it was my only game for a long time... and that was a mistake. It was game 1 of a backlog that would build over the coming decades, and I've finally gone back at 34 years old to complete this epic relic. Nintendo Land was a celebration of Nintendo gaming throughout the ages, and it appealed to party gamers and family members alike. Super Mario 35 Could Be the Start of Something Cool

Full Stream: ua-cam.com/video/_yxXLEepJGw/v-deo.html Super Mario Bros 35 is pretty fun! It's too bad it's going away at the end of March 2021. Hurry up and play it! What other games could be made into single-concept-multiplayer-experiences?
The Little Better Nintendo Switch, More Likely than Switch Pro
Переглядів 1073 роки тому
If you look back through Nintendo's handheld console history, it makes the possibility that we're about to see a "Switch Pro" seem pretty unlikely. After only 4 years on the market and a massive success, Nintendo isn't about to shut out current Switch owners by releasing a drastically improved New Nintendo Switch Pro. A little upgrade is coming, with new features to make Switch owners think abo...
So small backlogs all of you. I envy you. Mine is almost 800 games 😂
I only feel bad about games in my back log because I paid for them. I can't stand throwing money in the bin. I think it's very important to exactly know your own taste and don't let reviews and ads tempt you to buy (objectively good) games you actually don't like subjectively.
Mines over 1 500 games I'm cooked
Exactly what I want from the Switch 2. Reversed dual screen gameplay with a receiver on the dock, and a sensor bar on the dock for pointer (using the gyro is terrible and kills the imersion on gaming with the need to recalibrate the pointer to the center of the screen all the time), with every joycon having a IR sensor. This alone would allow all kind of games the WiiU had possible on the Switch 2. It would also allow Nintendo Land to come back, and more possibilities in games. Things that were never properly appreciated on the WiiU because it sold so little would finally achive the masses with the success of the Switch 2 system. I would also add a frontal and back camera, and a mic. I understand what you said about the benefits of no-dock, but I dont think this is even a possibility. Its part of the experience to insert the system on the dock, and its also a charge station. Without a dock you would not have the other things you required, so it would be conflicting with the previous ideas of using the dock as sensor bar, to charge... they wouldnt add a sensor bar on it just to you ignore the possibility of taking the system to another house to play on tv and not show the motion based games because you let the dock in your house. If you want to show it on tv, you will need to show the "switch" magic happening when you just plug it on the dock. But I totally agree about the dock being small, similar to the one that comes with the WiiU.
Yes. We can be friends.
@@essarell-media I forgot to mention that a back touch panel like the PS Vita had would also be interesting, and analog triggers.
With the games that you've gotten close to beating but left behind, will you be picking up where you left off or starting a fresh play through?
Damn! 600 subscribers? I really felt as if I was watching a way bigger channel, cause the quality is defo on-par with other gaming youtubers here, hope you get bigger man :) Edit: oh, this is 3 years old and last upload 9 months ago... :(
Having a kid and rebuilding a house will do that to ya. But I'm not done! Thanks for the kind words - I have a new video in the works and hope to get into a regular cadence soon.
Its the sale and wish list that we keep looking at which i should finnish my games in library😂
seeing this video for the first time 2 years after upload… did you beat Chrono Trigger?
I did! Then bought a run down house and had a baby. So I've completed very little since then 😮💨
I really like your criteria for the backlog! I have a lot of games on the backlog... I probably need to stop buying, and just keep playing what I have. One issue is: Most of my games are on PC, and it is not that comfortable for me currently to play on PC. Maybe if I get a steam deck-ish device one day
I don't play PC games that require KB/M - it's just not comfortable for more than 10 minutes. My backlog criteria has changed a lot since making this video. A house and kid will do that to ya.
Nice
My backlog is currently 687 games. Plus game pass, netflix and the hundreds of PC games I have but don't count because I don't have a PC or laptop for which even just accessing gog is a huge task but on which a handful of my games should run and a few I can play via cloud.😅
The bugs life slander is crazy but in all seriousness great video
The only reason I have a backlog is cause I’m stuck on those games and can’t move forward :(
Its already failure with its dated hardware lol bet the chipset was designed in like 2019
I bet they only sell 100 million next time. 🫠
Actually no
IMO
I miss the Mii’s!
I miss split screen games!
I just miss having friends 😭
Aw man I’m mad I missed this! Hopefully Nintendo brings it back on Switch!
Honestly, I had similar ideas in my head too
Great minds something something.
Actually good content that isn’t just click bait crap. Good job and I liked a lot of the features you suggested
Hard to compete with titles like “Crazy NEW Features COMING to SwiTCh 2 Pro COMFIRMED LEAK!” Which is why I don’t plan to make a lot of topical videos… :P
i think nintendo should make just a new home console and make the switch a handheld device as the switch lite is just handheld mode without the dock. so make a new home console that could play bluray discs and have at least 1080p resolution. and treat the switch as a handheld market. so that way they still support the switch and make money off of both consoles
They would need to split their studios up again, though, so we’d get fewer games on each platform. If the resolution tricks of DLSS work some magic, the next system could have some really nice looking stuff, even on mobile hardware.
I was dumbfounded when I looked at your sub count. This is such an underrated channel.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying to get back into it. Turns out my computer is horribly out of date (running a GeForce 1050....) so once I remedy that, I should be able to put out some semi-regular productions.
Yea me to, very underrated
WHAT THE HELL IS THE SONG NAME AT THE END OF THE VIDEO 😭
Jeremy Blake - Powerup 👍
thanks!!@@essarell-media
I really liked this video!
Thanks! I’m trying to get back into putting up regular videos. More to come!
My High priority backlog is currently Witcher 3, Fantasy Life (before the new one hits switch) Red Dead 2, and a few of my old pokemon games (mainly so I can transfer my Pokemon up to my switch) not too many but they're all such big games to 100%.
My backlog went down from 200 to 110 this year. Been avoiding 100% (if I do not feel that the game is one of the best I have ever played) and left some midway if I disliked them. (Got lots of them from bundles as secondary, but if I might give it a chance, it is in my backlog)
I have around 2000 games of which 1400 are on a backlog. Adding up the playtimes I will never finish the list unless they develop science that prolongs life, so, I have thrown away the list and am tackling this differently, that I decided about a year ago and it seems to work for me. I look at my games, and choose a top 10 that I am currently into (moods change, sometimes it's guns, sometimes it's dragons). Then I prioritise those and try to complete them. If it takes too long or I lose interest I remove the ones I don't want to play in that set, back into the pool and then fill up my set up to 10 games again, sort of like game-poker-hand, always have 10 in your hand. And so on.
At that number, it's time to form a bucket list and toss out the concept of backlog.
Funny you should day that, @@essarell-media , as that is what I did this week. It was getting ridiculous. I admit I have an OCD problem; I need to finish all games in a series, but I am breaking that cycle right now. I will only play what I want to right now, pick the ones that appeal to me, cut my losses and move on. There will always be newer games <- my new motto.
Avoid completionism it leads to grinding. Avoid live services especially those with season passes that reinforce feedback loops. Avoid multiplayer games except for non grindy coop games. Mp games reinforce dopamine highs heavily and rob you of some really genuine gaming experiences. I spent many many many years in multiplayer. Had some great shining moments in some tight matches but 99 percent of the time was brutally stomping others and when I look back on it yea it felt good but I missed some great experiences otherwise. Never buy games. Trick yourself into thinking if it is digital you already own it and it is in your library. Tell yourself I own the entire steam library or gog library or whatever and that I only have/need to pay money toward a game when I want to play it. The golden exception to never buying games is purchasing them before licenses are removed and/or are being removed permanently from digital stores. Oh and the other exception is multiplayer games but that is merely because eventually the community dies and if you don’t get in early you really miss out…. this rule shouldn’t apply cuz in general you will avoid multiplayer games unless you can team with friends and even then it is iffy. These are my personal rules anyway. My other rule is I can’t spend more than 2 evenings on a game that I am not getting into. Unfinished games are okay if you don’t like them and automatically go to my “trash tier” or “do not enjoy” list on steam or excel.
My daughter makes fun of my backlog (about 80 games between Steam and the Quest), so I'm relieved to stumble upon this proof I'm not weird (at least in that way). I've been trying to devise a formula to combine various factors (how much I've already played, predicted length from HowLongToBeat, initial excitement to buy, current excitement at the thought of playing, whether it's a sequel or has sequels) so that a spreadsheet will tell me what to play, and my mind can be clear to actually start playing. I'm also going to split my week, 3 days for the open-ended games I normally play that have caused the backlog, and 4 days for backlog items. So tomorrow I start What Remains of Edith Finch, which looks both interesting and short. Wish me luck!
Good luck! I’ve had to rethink the concept of backlog since my daughter was born last year. Never enough time! So now I’m thinking more of it as a “bucket list” with certain games way higher on the list. Basically, I’m realizing I will just never play through everything I’ve bought and need to prioritize.
Why does he look like linus or is it the other way around
We both grew up in Ladner, BC, actually!
what if I like the game but it's too damn difficult?! I'ven been playing cuphead for some days and I'me stuck at world 2!!! fuck that clown bastard
The Tales of Games are very good at creeping into the backlog, and charging interest for the amount of content the earlier games have. I was sure Star Ocean 3 was going to be it when I played it. I am late getting into the tales of Games. Btw, Daddy Rowen as I call him, kept me playing through Xillia. I also like characters that can wield blades and cast magic, coming from Terra Branford from FFVI. There is also that long grind just before final bosses, which contributes to the backlog...
Backlog 2000+. Fortnite and destiny 2 and warframe have eaten my time away. I uninstalled them a week ago. Now i need to play the ones i realy want too.
playing a list of games just cuz you bought them is what ruins gaming for you; it's like eating rotten food in your fridge instead of just letting go of it
Totally. “Moved on” is the most important category for backlog games. I think it’s a good idea to give everything you’ve bought a try, but “beating” a game is a waste if you’re not having a good time doing it.
I only have maybe a dozen games in my backlog. I don't buy many games at once, like one per month on average, that's why my backlog is so small, yet I'm still too lazy even for those.
Restraint is good. I’d much rather be in the position of looking for something new to buy than having a ton I’ve bought with no time to play!
Making a list definitely helps. I created a spreadsheet of my current game backlog and paired them up with the HLTB average time for just playing the campaign to help me figure out what game I would like to play next. Sometimes I might be in the mood for a 30 hour RPG and sometimes I need to play a small game like Unpacking. I wish you the best with your backlog.
Good video bro! Keep doing like this!
Chrono Trigger is meh. Gave it 8h and wasn't invested
I've been learning a lot from these video breakdowns re: game backlogs and a lot is psychological. I think a big step is realizing it might not be necessary (or possible) to play every game that could potentially be on your backlog. Another is realizing you don't have to have a game on your backlog if you have no intention/desire of playing it (even if you bought it and haven't played it). And yet another is that even having a backlog is a privilege.
Spot on. Backlog = abundance = you’re doing pretty damn good, all things considered.
Great video man, I will for sure try some old games I have in my backlog. Probably the best place to start, wish me luck
Fun tip, can't climb an ice wall? Can't get across that large island gap? Glue logs end to end lmao, I had 22 logs in a giant pole for fun, a little excessive and impractical sure but ut is useful when a bit more reasonable in length haha
True! I spent too much time getting weird places before getting Ascend.
Lmao 🤣
Everybody is talking about how it is super janky when you first try ultra hand, but I picked it up immediately and it didn’t feel janky at all
I definitely found it awkward, but there’s a method to it that clicks.
Always has to be a comment like this…good for you, picking it up immediately…Does that make you feel superior? Sad little dude
omg first one
i have like less than at least 100 on my backlog. my issue is that i stopped playing games for a few years, then started back up, and im a little bit of a trophy goblin now. i slowly chipping away at it, and i think i might be done this year
I collect and play so my backlog is painful to say the least. Does this satisfy the algorithm? Lol
I guess so! I’ll be back…. Soon.
Decided to tackle my backlog at 99 before I let it grow any bigger! Thanks for the tips!
First off that game store dude is a hero for saving adult you si much money on a rare snes cartridge And secondly I remember a website existing that let's you input your backlog and press a button that picks a random game for you to choose.
I wish he’d told me to save the box 😭
I have about 140 games on my backlog that I've been working through (and that's after cleaning it up quite a bit, it was at over 300 before), I just need to figure out a method to play them. I figure one or two AAA games mixed in with a 2-4 smaller indie games a month might work, but I don't know. The problem is I'm still buying NEW games as I go and it doesn't seem like the list is getting any smaller. xD
New games are definitely a delightful problem. Eldin Ring crushed my hopes of working through my backlog last year.
Where does roms fit into this list?
Ain’t nobody got time for that.
I listed all my games as I watched the video (Amazing btw, love the quality), and I just couldn't believe how many I own that I either never finished or never even started... 193 backlog worthy games... now that's a number JAJA hope to hear from you soon. Hope you the best in this New Year 2023, as well.
Now that I have a baby and a house to take care of, I need to go back over my list and add some more to “moved on.” Life’s too short!
