RTK 3, definitely. It's the only one of the 3 I played as a kid, and it might be my favorite of the entire series. Played all but 5 and 12 (Japanese only; didn't think it was worth any translation effort), and perhaps 14. I mean, I played the demo of 14 and it felt like a remake more than a unique game.

It's cool that whatever I was doing was what you figured out, too. I didn't dig super deep into this run so I imagine there's better... and the guy who beat my time for WR proved it. I would have been better off getting some more ARMS, as it's real important when it comes to not taking as much damage; especially while charging. I did the NES version of this again extremely rusty and just bought more arms and was basically even to WR. Someday, I might come back to this and see if I can beat the WR again.

Could learn a new run or two and tie it into the NES Odyssey event!

Yeah, I just straight up forgot :D Didn't hurt me at all, thankfully, as the treasury and basement gave me nothing and the treasury itself made sure i would max out on keys regardless. Wish that was the only mistake I made. But it worked out well!

It's hard to say. My WR on the Genesis is pretty solid in parts, but didn't have any real bad battle quests. I had one in here. So I'd guess probably an hour or so quicker. Now, I was a lot smarter in the early parts of this run, something that could help with the Genesis run. But I've probably spent 60-ish hours working on this over the last month... long runs take a toll :D

I'm probably not. I actually stopped streaming/recording my playthroughs because I was getting nauseous while playing it. I didn't figure out why for a while, but it was because I kept jerking the camera around a lot and bouncing in my chair. I lost interest in the game, too. Played Uncharted Waters Origin very briefly when it released but I bounced off that one super hard when I realized how absolutely terrible the monetization system was. Love sailing games, though. Recently played Sagres, which was pretty awesome for an indie sailing game, but not really deep enough to do something like this on.

Yeah, currently only the top 100 runners on any particular game receive points. I've considered some ways to incorporate it more, but currently all values are based around only top 100 runners.

@@aaron2u243 thanks, I see your point, cool project. It’s always difficult to make something that cover all use cases, though 5:10 in SMB1 is much harder then top 10 in some non popular game. Maybe you could consider some improvements in next updates and that will cover more cases, thanks again

@@baras441I do have an idea, but it's beyond my capabilities at the moment. Maybe in a couple of months. I will say, tho, that this list will always bias a little towards multiple games vs. just one, and SMB1 is a huge outlier when it comes to NES speedrunning that attempts to account for by numbers exactly fill this list with 1/3 people who only speedrun SMB1, which doesn't really inspire people to speedrun more NES games.

Awesome that you want to pick this up! But to be honest, I've forgot a ton about how to actually play this game. Something I learned after the fact was that the quality of your armies matters a lot in battle, where in this I kind of ignored it a bit. There are also probably some interesting officers you can recruit. Anyway, I might suggest asking @volumeonestatus about this, as I think he's played RTK2 a lot more and has also speedrun it (better than I, to be fair). No, I never did, but I saw some other people do it. I've watched so much more of this game since then as a few Zelda II speedrunner friends have adopted playing the randomizer of the game.
