Mary McCoy 'Elvis & Living Her Dream'

Quoted by Mary McCoy: At the age of 3, I knew I wanted to sing. When neighbors came to visit my mom and dad, I would get my little rocking chair and put it in the middle of the room and yodel throughout their visit. When I was 6 and 7 years old, mom and dad belonged to the Odd Fellows and Rebeccah Lodge and I would sing for them. Age age 11, I won my first talent contest. At 12, KMCO came on th...

The latest offering from Stephanie Urbina Jones & The Honky Tonk Mariachi, Manuel’s Destiny, goes far beyond the limits of the typical album: it’s a saga, a joyride, an impassioned reclamation of her cultural heritage, and-above all-a riveting tribute to the power of a dream to travel over 100 years and three generations. From her great-grandfather crossing the border, to an artist living and t...

The Cyrkle The Opening Act for the Beatles!
Who’s the guy playing guitar that doesn’t sing?
DIG!
How did you and Jack Jequot meet?
Great song, great rendition ! (Walkin' In Memphis)
❤
Great interview thanks, Daphne!❤
Thanks Rick, for sharing another wonderful interview! I really enjoyed this interview with Richie Furay!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was a great interview with lots of knowledge about Rock n Roll and the Beatles! I enjoyed listening and at the end of the interview I can say that I definitely learned something new, which is always an accomplishment. I really enjoyed the tie in of the Charles Manson story with the Beatles, it definitely peaked my interest to see how a character such as Manson would relate to their music, considering their focus on spreading love and similar topics that strayed far from Manson's beliefs and reputation.
Hello, I really enjoyed the talk about Ringo the Beatles Drummer. He was quite extraordinary and a joy to watch. After your podcast, I went and saw some of his other work and I have to say his technique is really great. Thank you for discussing this because if I hadn't listened, I would not have been exposed to a new genre of music that I enjoy now. I guess its never too late to listen to old Rock!. Act Naturally by the Beatles is now on my permanent playlist!
I found that one of the most interesting parts of this presentation was how the Beatles implemented their psychedelic influences into their music. The cover of their album, “Rubber Soul” reflected their psychedelic era. The look of the album cover appeared somewhat, “druggy,” as Coach Davis reflected. The music of, “Strawberry Fields Forever,” had some psychedelic flare to it. At last, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (LSD), was also a strong coincidence to the Beatles’ psychedelic era.
Debbie, thank you for the take-aways from our discussion. Steve and I will be doing some more interviews very soon.
Being able to learn the history of the Beatles from a great professor is a great opportunity to broaden your education. Everyone can like or love the Beatles but knowing the history brings a new meaning to their music. I enjoyed not only learning about the Beatles but also about Rock history.
Absolutely amazing! Would love to see him live if he tours the UK.
Great band but every video has a different roster of band members. I like the ones with Dennis. One of my favourites is two divided by love where Dennis has a great part
Hey Rick, great talk. So many great stories, such a gracious lady. Thanks.
Thanks, Leo. She’s very special.
I've seen Richard numerous times and all over the place over the last 25 years. I've always found him to be very friendly easy to converse with.
Now I know where guitarists like eddy Van halen got some inspiration from??
Russ looks like Ned Flanders
Great interview, damn I forgot how good that band was. I Love the Way Dennis could sing. We had a good range, and sang some complicated background. But hell they all could sing. Thank you for posting this
Aome serious chops fron 41:46 to 46:28 🎉
All these years an I honestly never knew he was an Englishman. Incredible what happens when you focus on their playing more than anything else
Rick, thanks for sharing this interview! I love what Steve Davis has to say about Ringo and The Beatles. Steve has so much knowledge of Rock history! I really enjoyed this interview!
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Steve and I will be doing some more episodes together soon.
SONG 18:30?????????
Been a fan of Jim since 1972. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks for sharing this Rick! Great interview!
Would love to see someone post the Ham Bros album on UA-cam
number one absolute. No one has his touch. Sorry for Tommy Emmanuel - whom I love so much - but Richard for me is the number one.
I can listen to Mr. Stone all day.
10:15 interesting philosophy
Awesome interview Rick i had the honor of seeing Poco and later on Loggins and Messina when i was in the Navy in San Diego in the early 70s..
Rick, one of your better interviews and definitely more to talk about on a Take 2!
Thanks Roy.
Thank you Rick and Jim - such wonderful stories!
Rob Grille was great and the front singer but Dennis Provisor had more range than Grille
Savant pure and simple!
Best hour of music I have heard in many years. Richard Smith plays my kind of music.
What's the song Richard plays @ 38min? absolutely on fire.
That VOICE❤❤😊
Jules is one of the most humble intelligent people I have ever met! Such a kind man!!!!
Rob Grill kept it all going. No Grassroots without Grill, PERIOD !
Dylan had Hwy 61 Revisited in 65. The Byrds first album was the same year. The Association would not debut until a year later. So I don't know about the first folk-rock claims. But, I tell you what, Along Comes Mary has a strong jazz accent to it. That might be the first jazz-rock song, years ahead of time.
This man is a full band and a half. Super talented. I'm impressed.
wow, Dennis singing Walking Through the Country sounds just like Corey Wells of Three Dog Night.
Awesome picker!!
He’ll be back with us, in El Paso, this coming Sunday! 🎶🎸

what's the name of classical piece played at 23 minutes?
Ironically, my 15 year old son has been so blessed to have the opportunity to meet Joe Dee's son Louie and to have Louie as a mentor in his life! Such a wonderful family and i am so grateful that my son has come to know Louie and his family (including Joey Dee).... My mother would have loved to have the chance to meet Joey Dee. I'm sure she is looking down from above and enjoying what she is seeing!
Love this man's music! Growing up in New York, the Peppermint Twist played on the record player in our home often, any time friends and family gathered together. I remember my mother having a crush on Joey Dee. I was 5 yrs old when my mother taught me the twist ... Since my Dad wouldn't Twist around the house with her, she taught me how to dance the twist so i could twist with her. We danced to Joey Dee on every holiday celebration and family get together. I miss those days! I wish my children could have experienced life the way we experienced it in the late 60s through the 70s. Thank you Joey Dee for being a beautiful childhood (right into my teenage years). Thanks Mom and Dad for a wonderful childhood!
Thanks for the great and interesting interview! I love hearing such personal impressions and stories. I hope there will actually be some shows in Europe. It would be a dream come true to see three of my favorite musicians on stage together, because I never had the chance to attend a CPR concert. Hearing James Raymond play the piano live is high on my bucket list!
And he also sings like Sinatra! Please somebody find a flaw on this guy
Rare performance of a rare song, Phantom of the Opry, by the matchless Jerry Reed, min. 28.
I took it to be written by Jerry Reed, apparently no, as Richard tells us here, it's rather by John Knowles (CGP ;). So much in synch with Jerry Reed, though, and his performace of it is mesmerizing at any rate.
Too bad Dennis Provisor wasn’t featured more
