This is a painful video but I promise I’ll be back soon with happier, more helpful videos. I’m doing much better now, personally, which will hopefully transfer to the plants doing better, too. 😊

I am new to growing in leca. I have a few small hoya starters that I put in leca and they seem happy so far. I hear so many youtubers say they water when the plant is completely dry, I find in my environment they do much better if I give them a drink a little before they get dried out. I am certainly enjoying this plant journey. I now have 60 in my little collection. I have to be careful because I live in a very small space. Love your content and your very calm voice. 😊
Sounds normal to me 🙂 Would love to see an update on your cabinet one day
Any flowers? If so, what do they smell like?
My Dad used to grow tomatoes and pick them off green, then leave them to ripen under our house (we had a tall house). The rolly pollies(we call them slaters in Australia) would burrow into the tomatoes sometimes. I think they must be omnivores!
I watch the Leca Queen on another channel and has lots of advice on growing with leca. She has an amazing collection I’m amazed. I’ve been growing 90% of my plants in leca. First time with a Hindu rope compacta and it’s growing so fast. One suggestion I would give is add a wick to the pot, get a reservoir container to fit under the plant. Add a layer of fluval stratum on plants you value like your grandmother’s precious Hoya. When watering with nutrient water let the reservoir catch the water and let the wick keep the clay pebbles moist and slowly disperse to the roots and stem. Works for me!
wow , you are really an innovator in growing hoya. glad that you are back. You inspired me to transfer all my 100+ hoyas to leca. They are all thriving now. Your sassy attitude is quite natural here in Germany.
Heyyy thank you for being here and letting me know that the videos were inspiring to you. 🥹 I’m so glad to hear you’re still loving the set up!
Yay! So glad you’re back. Who cares what people think 👍🏻 you do you.
Thank you so much 😊 I appreciate that!
I sooo have an unintended saassy attitude too 😅
Heyyy, glad to have your empathy on that point. 🥹 🥰
@@CorkysPlants great to see an update! ☺️
wb!
Thank you!
You're back! Cool, I always loved seeing your grow set up. REALLY interested in your terrarium/diverse planting set up, and switching the way you grow is fun and interesting, always. I loved growing succulents in gritty gravel, but the 2 day soak(monsoon season) and moving them all in and out of that was labor and time intensive, so sometimes the preferred method just isn't practical, if the collection is kind of big, especially. And more so as the family and kids grow!
I totally feel you on best practices going out the window when the collection gets bigger 😅
Prachtig ❤ Zitten je hoyas allemaal in hydrookorels?? Groetjes uit Nederland ❤
I hope you are doing well. I recently found your channel and was bummed you haven’t had content in a couple years. I hope you come back. Your transferring Hoya into Leca and watering them really was helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much for the kind comment!! I just logged into my account to post a short video. I’m still growing Hoyas and still love leca but im moving a lot of my plants into terrariums just because it’s a new obsession for me 😅
@@CorkysPlants well look forward to seeing new videos
Would love an update on this one
Sorry about the delay! The rooting method did just fine. The plant eventually died because I didn’t water anything for a hot minute. Most Hoyas were fine but linearis isn’t as resilient with neglect. 😅
@@CorkysPlants I'm sorry you lost your beautiful plant. I have set mine up with a wick and a large water reservoir so she always has water.
You just stuck the cutting straight in leca? Not in water first?
I’m sorry I’m just now responding. My rooting strategy is that it should just be rooted in whatever way you want to grow it, long term. If it won’t root that way, then it’s not a great way to grow it anyway.
4.21.24 hi. i know i'm 4 years late and hope you see this. i just came across this video and want to know what the name of the plant is that you have listed Urban Hoya Jungle?
Façam trabalho bem feito e deixem tradução......
❤💚👍
Your plant in 1639 looks like it might have flat mites. Look into sulfur treatment for flat mites
Wow. I haven’t heard of anyone not keeping a reservoir filled. Is this how you do it still in 2023?
I’m sorry I’m 8 months late 😅 as long as you can water frequently, I think not keeping a reservoir works great. Much less likely to rot the plant.
When you water what kind of fertilizer do you use? Do you use tap water? I'm just starting my journey and I do not feel very confident.
I just transferred my Hoya Compacta to LECA last night. They are known to be a very slow grower and I'm not patient! 😅 I hope to see more out of it now!
I just heard wild fern talk about the algae problems she was having. So by she slipped a sick over the outer clear pot and no more algae! You can sluo the sick off to see how the roits look!
Thank you for showing your Hoyas! Your work was appreciated
Isn’t “sp” called “species”?
NICE beautifully shaped plants they become. and the small yellow flowers smell like freshly cut celery.
Mine dont like the pon too I think it's too wet All the time. But in soil it get crusty dry out too at the beginning on the stem. Really hard this Hoya 😅
I love re watching this video. Do you think you might do an updated one soon? 😊👍
Thank you for options you shared. Most of Hoyas were in coco peat. There was a weather change since past few weeks causing the environment to be more humid. I checked to repot the Hoyas.. most of them were having root rots. Since I can’t move all of them to Leca or Pon immediately and I had a big bag of perlite. I changed all of the potting medium to perlite and coco peat 60:40 ratio. Your channel and video came to my help at much needed time. ❤
Where is your location?
Love your hoyas. Can you tell me the name of the first Hoya in the video with the pink flowers.
Thanks! Great help for me!
Thank you for this video!! This is my first time using LECA! So, when you use those deep saucers from Lowe's, which they still have tons of, very inexpensive, you only bottom water and the LECA just absorbs it??
It’s super helpful to those that are new to Hoya if you know (or have labels ) on them. It’s also a bummer that you skipped over so many Hoya. You have such a beautiful collection and should have spent more time on each plant , showcasing them all.
I can't read the labels that fast! Most were a blur! I tried to pause but kept backing up too far! I spent so much time to find the name that I gave up on this girl. Bye bye!
Literally I'm saying the same thing right now I've backed up 10-15 to try & catch the places she purchased them from!! Having a hard time finding the last few places she named off cuz I'm not sure if I even have to correct names!! 😢😢
Do you recommend rooting it in water first and then moving it to leca after the roots are formed? Or can I simply stick the cutting into the leca and let it start rooting there?
“I’m a lazy person here telling you what you can get away with” 😂😂😂 Yasssss!!!
All of your plants are beautiful
Where is your location if you don't mind❤?
Wearing gloves with sphagnum moss is a good suggestion! First time I used it I worked with my bare hands, and the itching almost drove me mad. It also itched for awhile after washing my hands.
+👍🇺🇦
Your shelves look amazing! I beg to disagree...🙂
Very nise ...healthy plant ..Is this plants Hoya s need ferlizer to grow .????from india .kolkatta.
Hola para futuros videos puedes poner la traducción al español .me interesa aprender sobre este uso de la leca en hoyas 😉Gracias .Saludos de Chile🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱
Hi thanks for the video, did you find a all in one fertilizer with all the micro nutrients the plants need? I'm just getting into this and worried my plants might suffer from nutrient deficiency. Any suggestions greatly appreciated thank you.
Gracias por el video y por ponerle traduccion al español¿le colocas algun enrraizante a la leca?🙋Gracias gracias.saludos de Chile🤗
I love all your Hoya's! Can you tell me what you use for fertilizer?
Hi Corky! I have been following u since a little before your Hoya tour! Will you be doing another? You had the best selection of cuttings I've seen and I'm anxious to see how they're doing. Hoyas since 2020 are so expensive or the shipping costs makes it so. Look forward to another Hoya tour! Dee, Long Island, NY
Thank you so much for your comment 🥰 I will try to come back soon with an update.
How dry does it want to go?..as much as other hoyas? I just ordered one of these..TIA
Thank you And comment number 9 Also do you work there?
Big Huge thank you for making my life w LECA less stringent. . . . its all about the capilary action to get the water and nutrients to the plant is what i take away . . . . I will now repot my one and only Hoya thats been in soil next to doing nothing and put into my own DIY situation - putting less inportance one the Perfect pot, vessel, puting more engery into tthe indivual plant and its acclamation. Now the possibilities are endless. Now i have a stronger grasp of LECA and the love affairs starts all over once again. thank you >>great video great detail . ..just great.
how often do you water the leca cuttings?
