Jobs that don't require HS degrees pay terribly. Not just low $/hr but also low hours, no benefits. So only high schoolers and married women with older children benefit from those. That's before 2020, I won't even get into post 2020 as cost of living is insane (I have a job and degree, no debt, "low CoL" area, and can't afford most houses nearby)

Everyone is thinking that somehow Washinton DC will come up with a solution. Has anyone bothered to look at all the major cities in America that now have their sidewalks full of tents and excrement. Ever go downtown and see all the many business buildings vacant with For Sale or For Rent signs pasted in the windows? Notice how the streets are full of trash and potholes that have not been picked up or repaired.? All the signs are a DEPRESSION is coming, not a Soft Landing. I think part of the apocalyptic view of your last guest is explained by the inadequate use of a linear scale in a long term graph. It is a mathematical fact that the use of a linear scale when the units change over time (shrinking usd value) results in a parabolic function. The log scale would turn the parabola into a straight line for a nearly constant growth function like gdp or S+P. I’ve commented on this many times and I’m continually disappointed at the perceived lack of math rigor that results in a distorted view. Everybody thinks compounding is magic. It’s not. And value shrinking of currency is not a disaster either, and needs to be understood.

Adam, respectfully, your questions and their preamble are occupying more and more speaking time in your 'interviews', leaving little opportunity for your guest to give of their best and deep dive into their knowledge. Please reflect on this and hopefully change as it is getting more and more painful to listen. It might be instructive to have someone actually measure the speaking times in the interview (host vs guest) to better see this. Have very much enjoyed your work for some time and you never used to do this. I don't know what's changed. By all means, do editorials if you must and share your own knowledge - or have someone interview you, as you have done with Sach's Realty - but don't do it in the guise of interviewing someone else. This is my first ever comment on UA-cam; that's how strongly I feel about it.

Brent is correct in his belief that the U.S. will use all means fair or unfair, through military or economic coercion to keep the current dollar dominated system going, however that does not mean the U. S. has the sustainable power or ability to stop a new monetary system or multi- systems from gaining traction. Right now the U.S. has sanctions to one extent or another on 30% of the world's nations. This not only makes global trade harder and more expensive, but it lessons the practicality/convenience of dollar use and foments deep resentments for what is seen as empirical power that is arbitrary and neither free trade nor beneficial to the rest of the world.

Americans are funny, they hate their own currency so much that they refuse to see its popularity compared with other fiat currencies. I listened to Brent and converted my savings to USD deposit saving, which kind of helps me to fight the inflation here in my country. I turned more than half of my assets into physical gold, too. I don’t assume I know THE correct answer.

I think it is future shock. Too much change in a short period of time. Why do a 4 year mechanic apprenticeship when EVs may take over the market in 5 years and dont require spark plugs, oil changes or brakes, o2 sensors etc. Why do carpentry when they are 3d printing homes in two weeks much cheaper than traditional construction. Even computer science which was a great career choice 5 years ago has been rated as high likely to be affected by AI. Maybe people dont list this as a reason for not working, but they know it subconsciously.
