Quelqu'un a les lyrics ?
Struggling to cope with the label's demands and her own depression, Ballard turned to alcohol for comfort, leading to arguments with Ross and Wilson. Ballard's alcoholism led to her missing performances and recording sessions. Florence had been allowed back into the group to complete some dates, while Cindy's contract release was done with the Bluebelles. Flo was in bad shape. She was quite heavy and quite erratic, and her mood swings were severe, as anyone traumatized would be. On July 20, 1967, the marquee at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas had been changed from “The Supremes”, to “Diana Ross and The Supremes” by Berry Gordy's insistence, and Flo went off on BG. No employee is allowed to show up to work intoxicated: ANYBODY would be fired for that. The truth of the matter is that Motown had given Flo a second and third chance, but both Diana *AND* Mary agreed with Gordy that she had to go. They were not happy about doing this, because the group was so hot, that a change of this magnitude could have a disastrous impact. Mary has said many times that Flo wanted out: she was miserable. She had, however, deluded herself into thinking she was irreplaceable, and that helped do her in. Flo was the victim, but she was just as responsible for her fate as anyone else. Had she adopted Mary's attitude of going with the program, she would have stayed in the group until June 12, 1977 at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London, England.
These girls could play a bit.
How this misconception that it's Paul got so popular ia beyond me
It is not a misconception...it's Paul on lower harmony...That is *Not* John or George
Barry Gordy is a POS for holding this lady back, hating and just simply creating delays while dissing her talent. By the time she was 30, she wasnt even interested in singing anymore. No telling what influence she might have had on the world. Especially for the 80's.
Flo serving Beyonce here
Yesss!!
She was OUR baby love. X
I love this girl...always will
They were awesome, summer 1983, their song Indian Summer brilliant
Probably now in the day Flo could of seeked help for the rape she endured , the subsequent drinking and pills. Her professionalism seemed to had suffered at this time and her pain turned towards her employers /Berry Gordy and Diana Ross the lady that was rightfully the catalyst of the group . She lost her job due to it . Not everyone can be the star but she played her part . It takes great courage , a sense of self belief , determination , character and charisma to be ‘the one’ which l believe Flo lacked in abundance . People seem to spoil what she did achieve by saying she shoulda , coulda woulda done more . Her legacy was her own , end of -we’ve all gotta go sometime or another . She could of lived a happy life post her career that was all down to her nobody else .
To be honest, if I set my mind to hearing John I hear John, if I set it to Paul, I hear Paul, if I set it to George, I hear George. My whole life my instinctual hearing told me it was a Lennon overdub and I’ve always listened under that assumption. Now I see that it’s quite a debate with no definitive answer online. Has any Beatle ever confirmed? I remember having a magazine article about 1980 where Lennon answered who wrote/sang what, but given John’s memory it may even be spotty. The digital extracting of the lower harmony adds its own layer of noise, so, good job on doing it, but I’m afraid it doesn’t clear it up for me at least.
It's Paul.. if you double John's Voice and its nasal ...it's very obvious any time he's done that ...becomes extremely obvious. There's certain inflections in the voice that are Paul's.
@@nthdegree1269 Anybody ever ask one of them to confirm? Not saying you’re wrong but that would be nice. Also, this is more hotly debated than I had realized. An isolated vocal of the whole song might be nice…;-)
@@nthdegree1269 Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t George do the lower harmony with John in You Really got a Hold on Me?
@brendencarlson5220 I think they probably could dig up some outtakes... it confuses people because Paul singing the low Harmony. In the rehearsal for I'm Only Sleeping, Paul takes the low Harmony there.
@@brendencarlson5220 Yes that is John and George On you really Got a Hold On Me
🙏🏽
Thanks for this; I don't know why, but surprisingly it works for me much more emotionally than the orchestral version(s).
It's sad, but this is false, the audio is from the 1965 Atlanta concert.
Also, I always considered the other members of The Supremes who later came along to be very attractive, such as Cindy Birdsong & Jean Terrel. Diana Ross held a "Baby Love" Concert @ Madison Square Garden in NYC, I believe it was in the 1980's or 1990's. The only original member of The Supremes was of course, Diana. When Jean Terrel, Mary Wilson & Cindy Birdsong (Whom now works as a minister in her church-good for her!) were each asked if they would like to perform with her @ this concert, they all turned down the request. I guess each of them are still mad @ Diana after all these years. As a result of this, Diana hired two other Ex-Supremes members who came along later, to sing with her on stage. I didn't attend this Concert since not only because Jean, Mary & Cindy weren't going to be on stage with Diana, but the cheapest ticket costed $75.00! And if I invited someone to go w/ me, that would have costed $150.00! Forget it! Maybe someday, if it's meant to be, Diana, Jean Terrel & Cindy Birdsong will reunite on stage one more time, as The Supremes. In the meantime, we can always watch them in old footage from the Mike Douglas Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Hollywood Palace, Shindig, Hollaballo, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The Merv Griffin Show, Murray the "K"'s It's What's Happenin' Baby Show etc.
Recently, Mary Wilson passed away. My sister and I always felt that while all of The Supremes were pretty, Mary Wilson was the most attractive of the group trio. With Diana Ross & Florence Ballard running a close second. Rest In Heavenly peace Flo and Mary. We all miss you both. I'm sure you are now singing in God's Heavenly Choir. Speaking of God, Mary & Flo, please say "Hello" to him for me & tell him that I LOVE him very much! Also, I hope you're enjoying your stay in Heaven. You've both earned it & God willing I hope to see you both there w/ all The Motown Stars who have passed away! 😀😃🤣😂😂
Of all the members of the Supremes, although they were all beautiful, I always considered Mary Wilson the most attractive of the trio, with Diana and Florence running a close second.
Pretty cool to see George play his sg live
Flo B! I love You Unconditionally forever❤❤..... I wish I could have been Your Babyl❤ve.....
the video show the Belle Stars at the end in 1986 in the clip "World Domination" and there were only 3 at this time!!!
Why they look older than 21
I remember you in Grimsby Exchange Jenny 1982. I know you can't remember me but I will always remember, bed you. God bless.
Bed you?? Woah!
Absolutely Criminal What The BBC did.
I’m not sure about Stella’s lacquered hair in this 😂
That was a convenient way of avoiding answering an awkward question about song writing, saved by the bell, some might say.
They deserved so much better, however, Sign of the Times is a stone cold classic pop song, if that was all I was remembered for, I’d die an happy man. Thanks for the memories ladies.
When I was a kid I always assumed they were fake and didn't really play their instruments, like a lot of pop groups back then. Maybe I was wrong.
The break down on Sign of the times is lifted from ‘I want you back’ by the Jackson 5.
Florence Ballard was my favorite Supreme from the start. I’m glad to see so many other individuals love Flo just as much as I do … even today.
Flo has a huge fan base. I've loved her since I read Dreamgirls (The Supremes were before my time) and heard her voice on their early songs
Two tone ska is so iconic and timeless.
It’s not two tone and it’s not ska
Thanks Bunches for Posting 👍 I Loved this,it was The Mike Douglas show Love and miss Ya Florence Blondie Ballard 🕊️❤️🕊️ 🌹⭐🌹
Man they look older than 21
I wish they reform, and do another tour.
Seven beautiful, and very talented, ladies.
They were a seriously underrated band.
I saw them live, at Manchester, in the 80s. They got called back for so many encores, that they ran out of songs, and had to repeat a couple, and nobody minded. 😊
Love you flo
Real girl bands back in the day
Miranda was my adolescent dream. I was really into the belle stars, it looks like the girls didn’t seem to be treated very well by stiff.
"Miranda was my adolescent dream." Same here. She is gorgeous.
Stella very beautiful woman
The Belle Stars without the beautiful Miranda. Gutted.
Miranda, the woman of my adolescent desires. ❤
Mine too. 🤤
Miranda Joyce, enough said!
