Boston Live Budokan April 19th, 1979 UPGRADED STEREO

Boston live April 19th 1979, Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan. Cherry Blossom tour. My first upload ever was of this very concert, however the audio quality of this reupload puts all others to shame including Giants Stadium (but let's be honest, it can't sound much worse than that one...). Of the three concerts at Budokan, two of them were recorded in stereo (April 19th and 20th), while the 18th is...

This was the only time STYX played this song during this tour (apparently), if not the only time period. It is from a concert in the Meadowlands New Jersey, during the Paradise Theatre tour. The concert itself is so large that it would take forever to upload it. Other than this gem of a recording, the rest of the concert is not anything special. I will still try to upload that concert whenever ...

I FINALLY FOUND IT!!! I have been searching for this concert for little over two years now. I first heard of it from this sketchy Japanese website, and it has been a little side goal to find this one. I can now happily say that I have, this concert is surprisingly good sounding as well; every song on here has been fixed and sounds really well, however long time is a little messed up because one...

Wanted to have this one up before hurricane Irma destroys everything. This recording (like most I have) is pretty bad quality overall, but the show was mixed extremely well. This is one of the last concerts that the original line up did before splitting up permanently. The arrangements of the harmonies are exactly the same as the other Euro-tour concerts, where they didn't sing all of the parts...
Boston Live at Giants Stadium 1979 RAW UNCOMPRESSED WITH AUDIENCE SHOTS
Переглядів 1,6 тис.7 років тому
An older, more raw, uncompressed and better sounding version of the iconic Boston concert in the Meadowlands NJ. This version of the concert shows brief views of the audience and the stage before and after the encore, seen at around- 1:11:03 and 1:20:17. So if there is anybody out there who thinks the audience was small, this recording proves them incorrect. There were over 55,000 people there!!

Another great performance from Boston during their first tour. This recording has outstanding fidelity, since the person recording it placed the microphones directly in front of the speakers. It seems that he unfortunately recorded only one side of the stereo output since a few of the vocals are barely audible. Other than that it is still an amazing listen, and once again this is not my recording.

Another older recording of the best band in the world. The sound of this particular concert is not as good as the Long beach shows, but the mixing at times is better. All being said, this concert has probably the best sounding live version of peace of mind out of all that I heard. RIP Sib Hashian and Brad Delp Again, this stuff is not mine, so don't get all mad about it

This is the show I referred to in the description of the Henry Levitt Concert. Unfortunately the recording over time became a little warped and the left and right channels cut out sometimes. Though I have to admit that Boston played an amazing performance this day. This is definitely one of my favorite concerts that I know; the instrumentals are great and the vocals are even better. Sib Hashian is the correct name. Drums and vocals. He had a better falsetto than Barry did. And dang, if he covered Brad's higher pitched harmonies that he did in the studio. Really tough to do.

    This was basically their peak. Was downhill from here in many respects, imo. Brad doing his best but flat on some of the really high chest voice notes but nailing some of those falsetto highs really well. Except that insane one near the end of More than a feeling. Bit flat on that one. But he is being asked to sing high stuff on every song for a full concert and that is a hard task, I think. People say Brad is the best rock vocalist but it's not just albums to consider. Look at Steve Perry on live vids. NAILING everything live. Dio. NAILING everything. No flat notes and strains like we hear in this video. Not bashing, just stating facts. I think Brad's vocals were pushed as far as they could go in the recordings and he just couldn't replicate it all accurately live. But I like this version better than that other guy Tom got to replace him.

      @@machineryman7197 Knowing how picky Tom was and is, I wonder how they managed to tour then get another album out in 2 years. Prob had the tunes already worked up before and a few written during touring I guess. 1974 to 78 was good music times for me. Post 78 was starting to go all disco and hip hop and R&B and I liked a small bit of what was called "funk" music back then. Prince I was listening to in 79. His 2nd album. lots of musical styles popping out at that time. Synth stuff and pop synth stuff and of course the heavy metal was just starting to really take off around 1980 probably. Sabbath was 74 okay but takes time for other people to soak it up and if it's cool, it'll spread. Yeah.... the 70s were something for music, I think.

    Boston had been playing together for ten years by the time of this recording. That is why it sounds so good. Yes, various musicians can pull it off, but these guys together had a sound. For proof, see Feelin' Satisfied and Don't Look Back starting at 15:00.

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 7 місяців тому

      uh... just no. Boston wasn't even a BAND when Scholz was recording the first album. They did not play live, never toured. Go watch some vids with Tom Scholz talking about how the first album went down. They ONLY began to do live shows AFTER the first album came out and was showing success and that would be around 1977 I think. I think they played live in late 1976 and that is the earliest you will find them playing live as "Boston". Tom basically did everything except sing and he just eventually hired people he needed and then they realized they could tour once the album was becoming a hit. Tom wasn't even a full time musician. He was doing engineering at Polaroid during the day and working on the first album in the evening in his basement.

    • @machineryman7197
      @machineryman7197 7 місяців тому

      Agree with all you wrote here - but it seems that Tom Scholz is not an easy guy to go along with it - let's put it straight: he's hard to take for bandmates. And his mad perfectionism (taking years for releasing another album) is responsible for the fact that Boston got gradually forgotten so that younger music fans have never heard the name Boston and cannot enjoy what great music they produced.
