Hi. Wish I had found this earlier. I bought a Quentel and found it hard to follow along with it in church. I ended up getting the Allan to be my church Bible. The text just jumps off the page for me. Don't get me wrong I love them both, but if I had it all to do over I would have just gotten the Allan and been done with it.

Watching this as I've just ordered a 53 Longprimer black goatskin SPC, I already have a 53 Longprimer with red/golden gilding, but the moment I saw the red speckles I just told myself I needed to have this, thanks for this video.

I like that there is NO concordance. Don't need them in smaller bibles. Leave those for larger sizes.

The margins of the 2024 edition are about 1/8" larger all the way around. Maybe 1/4".

The Allan NRSV has never had a concordance. The Apocrypha was added in 2019 (not present in 2008 or 2012 editions).

I was terrified to damage my Schuyler when I first purchased it, but it occurred to me that the reason I purchased it was because my cheap Bible fell apart. I set out to actually read it and use it, for what is the point in having a quality Bible that will last a lifetime if I never use it? I purchased a thin micron pen and started marking it up. Now, I'm more careful in how I mark my Schuyler and I put more thought into what I actually write, but I don't let the price tag and high quality scare me from using God's word. My wife's Bible is currently falling apart, so I purchased her a Crossway ESV Omega. She loves Crossway ESVs, so I got her a higher quality one over the "value" Bible that she had been rocking. My hope is that this new Bible I gifted her will last.

I have wanted to purchase an Allen for a few years now, but I already own a NAS95 Schuyler. That has been a wonderful Bible for me. Even though I don't see the NAS95 going out of print, I do get a little leery that it may, one day, get to be hard to find. I am not a fan, one bit of the changes they made to the NAS20. I have decided to purchase another premium, last-a-lifetime NAS95. This time, I purchased this Allen.

I like both, but I would get a discount on that scratched one! ).

I received this exact same Bible the 2002 Cordovan Calfskin thinline. Still have that same box. I still use it for everything. It’s my favorite Bible of all time. I also have the black version as well. My son uses my black version for studies and school. I had a friend who worked for Crossway back in 2001. He gave us hardback copies the week it came out. So it’s been my translation since. The cordovan also ages well!!! Also I had a darker version cordovan calfskin. I have a friend with the same Bible as you and they are different. Mine has a smoother cover.

I own a lot of bibles. I thought the difference was just TRANSLATIONS! But I guess: Layout, construction, Color, Style, font, might make a difference!! Also as a biblomaniac, I probably should have a premium Bible. I sort of do... But they are all $40-$50 items, bought used (on sale...) IMHO

Tower of Bible and sword horder are the best Bible review names. I’m not huge on ribbons when I review Bibles but I still enjoyed this.!

Which do you prefer; Petrol Blue or this Bright Blue?

My first Bible was a KJV pocket edition Cambridge in French Morocco, tiny font. So anything in comparison is perfectly readable font. Never complained, lol. Worst case scenario buy some 1.25+ reading glasses. People just love to complain.

Is the firebrick red a bright red or a lighter maroon? I seen a Schuyler Bible and it was bright red. I love that color but this looks darker.

I am ordering the deep brown for me & this red for my Wife. These bibles are beautiful IMO, and although I am a KJV guy, I really like this translation for studying with my wife & children

Second comment. Just treated myself to a 43, purple with a red liner. Red under gold gilt. My first Allan. Excited. Segoi ne? My wife's half Japanese BTW. Can't wait for my first Allan to arrive. Stoked.

I'm with you. I can't do that surgery on a Bible and I cringe when they start separating the headband from the text block. I looked on amazon for the ones that tuck between the headband and cover but the colors weren't good. I'm not a DIYer but I though I might be able to make one, although mine wouldn't be of synthetic leather. I want to add a couple of ribbons to a $20 Bible I just bought that has NO ribbon. It's a thinline so it will have to be narrow, plus there's not much space behind the headband but I'm going to try to make one.

Nice purple stack there at the end! Got one of these for my MIL months ago. I was so impressed that I had to get one for myself. Overall, I LOVE this Bible.

Several years ago their Firebrick Red was a deep, rich true red. It's now darker and no longer a true red. I just received a Quentel and was disappointed in the color. I gifted a Firebrick Red PSQ a few years ago and it was a much prettier color, imo. Good review; thanks!
