Top 6 Whiskey Holiday Gift Ideas Under $100
If you drink good bourbon and want to try good scotch, i recommend Oban 14 or 18 if you want the smooth mouthful. I recommend argbeg if you want to try a smokey peaty campfire. Also people tend to not talk about the different drunks you get from alcohol. I have found that scotch has a very clean and nice drunk. This is because it doesn’t have any sugar in it. This also means 3 people can polish off a bottle, wake up and have no hang over.
Great episode. But i dont understand why people go all gah-gah about Japsk(e)y . . . THey are simple, too light IMO and feel "manufactured" (engineered) than natural , like a Scotch BLEND or VAT of sort.
I'm Irish and enjoy a drop of whisky, preferably Scotch. I was taught early that ice ruins a whisky, glad to see that knowledge being shared!
One thing I learned, is the soil and ingredients effect the drink. I had an Alberta whiskey and vodka, both are 50% alcohol. Hundred volt whiskey, and white lightning vodka. It was a vast difference mainly because the whiskey had butterscotch & vanilla, and the vodka was clear. But when I had the vodka I tasted horseshit. Because Alberta has horses and cows........and probably used fertilizer from local farms to grow the grain or potatoes. I am a whiskey drinker but my girl is a vodka lover. We do not get gourmet stuff but I do love my canadian club and Gibsons, she loves her smirnoff and whatever else. But as of lately I enjoy mixes instead of straight shots and whatnot. I used to drink lambs navy 151 and cannot anymore but I have given up even the 50% and moved to 40% Edit. Both the 50% white lightning, and hundred volt were highwood distilleries out of Alberta
Great video
This guy seems like he playing a character. The single barrel guid
Come on guys, 2 options... That gives them a 50% chance to guess right. Give them 3 and they are more likely to guess wrong. Guve them 5 and the results are likely to go bad.
Colas with whiskey, fruit juice with vodka.
I have lived in Richmond my whole life and I am an avid bourbon drinker I can't believe I've never heard of you guys, but I'm so happy I discovered your Channel. Cheers and great recommendations😊
Women like vodka, because they can withstand more pain and are dumber.
I want to try Monkey Shoulder i hear thats a great entry point as a bourbon enjoyer and if that one still taste like a band aid too its not something that will break the bank and give it away or keep it as a mixer. Enjoying Redwood Empire pipe dream watchng this which is a great Californian bourbon with a nice fruitier pallet then most, its good.
I can't drink vodka, it makes me sick... I have had the "Vodka" made from grain, no problem, so in my book... made from grain, It's not vodka, really stupid that the world excepts calling it vodka.
Spelling Scotch or Japanese whisky with an "e" is a form of cultural imperialism. All you have to do is read the label and copy the spelling.
They are not the same thing like this guy says it tastes way different and vodka is the only one that has made me vomit
Vodka is the only hard liquor that’s made me vomit for me whiskey all the way
Oolong tea
I'm wondering if you thought to correct the spelling in the video name from whiskey to whisky ?
Can you list the whiskeys? I missed the names of a couple of them.
Not impress with this
I dont know man. Im just trying to get a buzz and relax 😂
You should show your friends in the video. It was akward watching and the guild refers to yall but its only you in the video. Would have been a more enjoyable video if it was less formal.
What do you do if a bird flys over and craps in the "beer"
I have tried a few bottles of Scotch and really find it off-putting. Love bourbon. This difference for me is that Scotch has an antiseptic quality that I cannot stand. Bourbon has a nice sweet cinnamon palette that keeps me coming back.
Gents, Shin, Hatozaki, Yamato, Shimayuta, thank me later. Yamato is my favorite, Huge Jap whiskey guy here.
Could manage without the racial slurs.
It is not a way to drink vodka. Vodka isn't sipped, isn't swirled around mouth like whisky in searching of non existing tastes. Vodka is drunk straight from a shot glass and intemidentially after its burning taste is washed away with tea or some food (preferably fat or sour cucumbers). Vodka is drunk to get drunk, not to create some philosophy around it. That's the triumph of substance over form. That's how we drink it in Poland. Also, congrats for recognizing that sugar with alcohol causes problems. That's why I never mix vodka into some fancy cocktails, but I drink it pure. Also after vodka a man shouldn't drink some sweet things, like coke, juice or soda but tea (no sugar) or eat something fat (sausage, słonina etc. sour cucumbers, herring in oil).
She is so lovely and knowledgeable, if she's the one giving the tours then that place is in outstanding hands. I have to make my way over there and get a tour myself one day. Great videos brother!
Theres always a way cheaper bottle
It’s just crazy the demand for BT Distillery Whiskey! Except for the bottom shelf stuff, everything is difficult to find😤
Thanks Mac, very helpful.
Mac, this is enjoyable to watch and learn how you select your private barrels.
Good knowledge
Quite informative.
Thank you for the video. I heard you say Virginia? Northern or Southern VA?
I'm sticking with the Dewars, thank you very much. The Macallan does not taste 15 times better than the Dewars, and if. like me you only drink it on special occasions, by the end of the bottle my Dewars is 10 or 12 years old. So there's that. And, yes, I drink it neat and I rather like the burn/bite alomg with the peat.
Your Videos are too gud but don't know why you have less subscribers ❤
I'm not sure that you could have told the difference between an $80 single malt and the $300 single malt. I agree that the really cheap blend is not going to taste anything like the expensive single malt. But top grade whiskeys are much harder to tell from their medium grade counterparts.
Scotch in general costs more because of shipping and handing. Scotland's highways are horrible for freight trucks, especially in the northern half, frequently very narrow, if not one lane, constantly fluctuating speed limits that rarely go above 60 mph. The more remote the distillery, the longer it takes to transport the supplies, even before it ever leaves the country. A $12 bottle of Evan Williams would likely cost $35 if it were made in Scotland.
I’m looking forward to getting my first Japanese whisky. But, I also wanted to know about the prohibition whisky. What bottle is it? So I can also search for that bottle as well. Thank you!
Guessing it’s Ao (Japanese for Blue) as the color of the label.
And now the baby is here!
Highest level content 🔥
Just found your channel! I think you said your based in richmond, VA? Me to! What’s the restaurant that gets this Blanton pick?
Really good episode buddy! Enjoyed watching it :-)
How long does it take to get to the Big Whiskey Grill? I can't wait to come back and enjoy another meal and some more bourbon.
Was the large or small blocks of ice? Size matters in this instance
Actually size doesn't matter. The temperature of ice is the problem. Shape or size plays no bearing
Just found your channel. It’s great! Such a wealth of knowledge. That’s awesome you got to do a Blanton’s pick!!
Whish Whiskey was the second one? I didnt get the name
Really enjoy both the bourbon and rye JD single barrel barrel proof.
I did that same tour 2 years ago and seeing that old area was incredible. So glad you got to do it, Mac! When is it hitting the restaurants?
It's here now!
@@williammccormack3438 I'll be buy as soon as I get back to town.
So cool. One of my favorite pours I've had at your place!
