Hello , I've never played LOTRO. What server would you recommend for me and what class can be considered newbie friendly. (I am from Europe). I am not opposed to spend little bit of money if it can enhance my experience.

Saying he’s busy, isn’t an option. This is a serious issue and honestly could have happened before, and we just not known about it. His response is very telling, just more “we know about it and we’re working on it thank you” Which is essentially him making an announcement to appease people while not directly answering questions, then he will come back and piddle another answer that doesn’t really say anything. Cord has been known to be a BS dev just trying to milk his job with as little work as possible, im not sure how this guy is still employed considering the state of the game in comparison to what it used to be. I guarantee if I performed the way Cordovan does at my job, even as a super, I would be fired IMMEDIATELY

Just like with the river 'hobbits,' it's just lazy 'updates.' The facial extras are all the same human ones (do elves have freckles and bloody scars?) I'd be happier if they just finally fixed the human female chars lazy eye.

I posted about this on the forums (forum name Karac Avalron). Account security in lotro has to be moved up the pipeline of development to make it a priority. SSG has known for a long time that account security is dubious, this latest issue with the logging in to someone else's account basically was an eye opener. I am generally extremely laid back and a casual lotro player but I am not willing to continue to support SSG if account security isn't a priority. There should never be an opportunity for me to log into someone else's account unless I have to jump through considerable hoops. lol, yes I am still irritated by this.

I hate the new elf looks. I wish I could get my old look back. She doesn't look very Tolkein elf like anymore just a human with pointy ears. They could have given an update to well done hairstyles if anything or honestly, just left it alone. To give such an outdated character appearance update in 2024 is disappointing. There's charm to the old looks, but now it looks cheap. Who did these? If I didn't see it in the game I would think they were badly done fan edits by someone with very little experience, yet I still feel like it was.

if i logged in an saw someone else's characters, i'd have to send them mail explaining what happened, but also asking them if they'd like to come visit my hobbit home for tea and sconces, would be lovely to have a guest 🥲

For warden just do what I do and use my task bar to place the builders to make the chain separated by execute for example 1 = spear 2 = shield 3 = fist (for me it's double fist cause the yells gets annoying quick like) 4 = execute 5 = spear 6 = shield fist 7 = execute and so on great if you have memory issues or go inactive for to long

LOTRO is live service therefore should always have CS available. I do not agree with everyone taking their time off from work in this matter, if the game would be singleplayer OK, but as a live service MMORPG it's not OK for noone to work throughout the weekends.

Every MMO I have played has had an emergency hotfix of some level. Some fairly maor, some very major. One MMO was down for over a week and had a rollback that was over a week. Things happen and when it arises, it gets fixed. How many hotfixes has LotRO had in 17 years? Trials of playing an online game that has many updates and doesnt depend on only updating content once or twice a year with ust xpacs.

Yeah that was crazy I remember seeing the server shut down notice 30 minutes before it happened and everybody was freaking out

Feel bad for the devs, but don't feel tooooooo bad for Cord. He has never wanted to be LOTRO's CM, and it shows! (He's DDO's CM made to do both jobs because SSG). Cord probably seems better than industry standard CM just because of how little actual community interaction he has means he's not pissing people off as often as many ;-}

I knew that whatever they fixed last Friday was 1. Serious enough to need to be fixed immediately and 2. Enough of a threat that the devs couldn't announce it and risk people exploiting it My guess was they identified an item dupe glitch but this is wild

My recommendation is not to buy any items until the end of the event, as you then got a good overview of what items you got in drops, and can supplement from the store!

its 100x better, and it was needed as the new storyline has custom looking elves. its a little odd people want a more basic looking character, ive seen some around anyway it is possible but the amount of hate surrounding it is a bit overboard, no appreciation for the work put in. theres about 10+ different face types that you can choose and then go on and customize so i highly doubt the people complaining have tried everything that the update has to offer.

More good than bad, I used the update to re-invent my character from scratch and ended up with something I prefer far more than before. Guess I'm in the minority based on the replies though lol

How many elves, according to Tolkien, had dark skin complexion? In SSG:s version, 3 out of 4 of the randomized characters in both man and elves race looks like something from Kush in Robert E Howard's Conan universe. Stick to Tolkien's lore please. You're a Boston studio. The California woke disease has no room here.

I liked somethings like giving more options of size, angle, distance and height of features like ears, eyes, chin, chin bone, nose, nostril, mouth and all, specially the hair jewells (that was nice to add more options), but they reduced all the TRADITIONAL ELF-like faces to 1 out of 13 "complexions, and im not gonna lie: my elf was nothing like the previous state after the update, they say they kept the form intact, just adding more details to it, but in truth, my toon had a fairy like face, thin lines, small chin, pointy eyes and all, now he looks like Gaston from Disney, too HUMANLY i think. It looks like that its more important to add "inclusive" features on the toon than preserving what would be reasonable to exist inside of Tolkiens aesthetics. They call it inclusivity, but its a major DISRESPECT to the AUTHORS views, as if they (and everyone else on this field) had the right to "CORRECT" Tolkien, and if you talk anything aggainst it, the inclusivity is cleary just for all that agree with their own criteria, not you, they call you racist, intolerant and all the old bully slang without even giging good reasons rather than discriminating you for disagreeing. We live in miserable times, truly.

Elfs got the DEI treatment

My main is a LvL 105 Hunter ( yes, been playing since open beta and still not got to level cap, no rush though), and started leveling up a Warden; reached level 53 and am finding it a fun challenge compared with my hunter. It's fun pulling a group of mobs and burning them down, something that on my Hunter would result in a trip to the res-circle. I've not done any skirmishes yet, nor any raids (tend not to do raids very much anyway though) but for landscape the Warden is fun so far.

I'm coming back to LotRO after a 7 year break (has it been THAT long...yep, unfortunately) and, though I remember the blue Hunter being my favourite, I didn;t know if anything had changed. This is a dead useful starting guide, simple enough to get you started without over confusing it with more advanced info. When you mention weird...is that a "specific" kind of weird? Or just weird in general?
