DIY Modern Shed Update
Переглядів 3714 днів тому
As promised, here is an update on my shed. It is now in a much better state than before. Though not complete, I do have the double barn doors installed and that means that stuff can go in. Thanks to my friends Gabe, Bryan, and Diego, I was able to clean a bunch of stuff out of the garage. We got useful things over to the shed and the rest went into the trash. There are still details to complete...
DIY Modern Shed

Hey everyone, it's been a while! I have not been posting in the last couple of months for a few reasons, but mainly because all other projects have been put aside in order to focus on one big one: the construction of my new shed. This shed is meant to house my lawn mowers along with all of the excess equipment and things that are taking up space in my garage. The ultimate goal being to allow my...
April Autocross

Another month, another autocross. This time, I had brand new front and rear tires as well as a proper alignment. The difference in the feel of the car was eye opening. I definitely need new rotors and pads as I could feel the brakes struggling at the end of the straights. No worries, I will work to get those done for the next event. Either way, it was a lot of fun and definitely worth the drive.
Miata custom leather arm rest
Переглядів 664 місяці тому
Years ago, I designed an arm rest for tall people who drive Miatas. One of the downers of driving a Miata, for a tall person, is that the factory arm rest ends up pressed against the side of your thigh and it hurts. I designed a low profile unit that I used to sell on my old website- which will be back up soon by the way! Since I have been making new leather parts for my Miata's interior, I fig...
Miata Leather E brake Handle
Переглядів 464 місяці тому
Over the last few weeks, the Miata got a new shift boot and a new ebrake boot. At this point, I had a further thought, what if the e-brake handle itself also had leather with matching stitching? Well, I just had to find out. So, I redesigned the handle I had so that a large section would be of a smaller diameter and accommodate the thickness of a piece of leather. I did this and then used a pie...
Quick Release Battery Terminals

One of the annoying parts of having multiple vehicles is tending to the charge in the batteries of all of them. If a particular vehicle sits for a while, then it drains its battery and over enough time can even permanently ruin its battery. I made the mistake of allowing this to happen to the AGM battery in my Tacoma and ended up having to buy another one. One solution is to keep all of your un...
Miata E brake Boot DIY
Переглядів 365 місяців тому
Seeing as how I made a custom shift boot for my Miata, the regular e-brake boot I had in it wasn't cutting it anymore. It looked plain and boring next to the vibrant stitching on the shift boot. Obviously, this meant I had to take it apart and use it as a template for a new one. A nice one with matching stitching. This is considerably simpler to do than an e-brake boot because the measurements ...
Tacoma Subwoofer Install
Переглядів 1265 місяців тому
A few weeks ago, I added a Pioneer powered subwoofer to my Miata. Happy with the results of that, I decided that something similar had to be done for the Tacoma. However, I wanted something a bit more powerful. In comes the Pioneer TS-WX400DA which is barely larger than the unit in the Miata, mainly thicker, but puts out a maximum of 250 Watts (100RMS). It is also a downward firing setup, so it...
Miata DIY Shift Boot Part 2

So here is the second and last part of my custom shift boot build for the Miata. This initially ended with a result that was less that what I desired. However, me being me, I couldn't rest with it like that. So, I built another shift boot using leather (of which I have plenty) and even had just enough alcantara to do one panel in alcantara. This actually suits the design of my interior perfectl...
Miata DIY Shift boot

Years ago, I made a shift boot for my Miata using microfiber fabric. It looked good at the time and I was quite happy with it. However, this is the same fabric I used on my dash and door panels, which is really intended for furniture and therefore has no UV protection. This resulted in all of these parts fading in certain places over time. I had some real alcantara left from other projects, so ...

Let's face it, a Miata isn't really a great platform for a sick audio setup. However, it will benefit from a few improvements. Years ago, I added sound deadening to the doors and a set of Pioneer 6.75" speakers with built in tweeters and crossovers. The bass from them rattles the doors a bit too much for my taste, though nothing compared to what it was like before the sound deadening. I figured...
Miata LED Headlights

The stock Miata headlights leave a lot to be desired. They were probably fine for what was available in 1990, but by today's standards, they are really lacking. I can actually see just fine at night with no lights on, after all, South Florida has so much light pollution no one actually needs lights other than to be seen. However, there is something satisfying about a set of headlights with a so...

In today's episode, I will go over how to change the cabin air filter in a 6th gen Camaro. I'll be using my SS 1LE, but this process is the same for all 6th gen Camaros. Camaro DIY Flowtie

Happy 2024 everyone! I will be starting this year's UA-cam content by showing some details of how I added a flowtie to my Camaro SS 1LE. Now, the usual thing to do is to buy a grill for a ZL1 that already comes with a flowtie. The problem is that grill does not match the SS lower grill and it is also quite expensive. I decided to just remove my stock bowtie badge and cut it to make it a flowtie...

      @doitwithproperstyle Місяць тому

@@ToyodaMaster-tq6ht there is so much misinformation on shrouds. A shroud really allows a manufacturer to use a fan that is smaller in diameter. With one this big, it's a non issue. Looking great with the decorative stitching on the seams. That Singer heavy duty does a pretty good job too. Im guessing you are using nylon or polyester thread ? Might want to burn the ends of your thread with a lighter when you are done. Sheers I suggest getting another set to just use for cutting cloth, foam, and leather. Clauss or Weiss are excellent and easy to maintain an edge on with a whetstone. I use my cheap trauma sheers for cutting paper or cardboard templates and never allow my good sheers near paper it dulls them. I like watching your videos you do a great job. For contact cement take an empty can of contact cement rinse it out really good with mineral spirits, wipe out, and go to an upholstery shop and see if they will fill it with landau top contact cement for a few bucks. Or look for one called Barge Cement in a yellow and red can. Other suggestion if you can turn your hand wheel to start your needle and back stitch a few times starting and at the ends that will work.
