ARTTI FLEX A7 Modular IEM Cable Review
Excellent review and information! I've really enjoyed watching your videos!
I will probably never use cables other than the Tripowin Zonie, but I dig your reviews. You do relaxing content lol.
I have those very same Tripowin Zonie moss colored with .78 2 pin, 4.4 mm termination on my Zero Red...
Thanks for the great review 👍
Does the mic work without a splitter?
If you’re plugging into a TRRS jack like on a phone or an xbox controller, you do not need a splitter.
I used this for being thinner on my monarch mk2, but found the bass dive lot less deeper and the voice becomes thinner. So i went back to the original cable.
i don't know why anyone would use this when you can just get BTR15 for the same Money Better sound better fit longer battery life there's just no comparison
I agree, but there’s still a cable between the IEM and the BTR1.
Hey sir, thank for the review if you remember me hahaha
😊Your suggestion was a good one.
The best sounding cable! Zonie adds too much thickness/bass.
Which IEM did you notice this on?
I just got an artti a5 and a9, those are some really nice thicc two wire cables. I have one on my supermix 4 and ea500lm.
I wish the hardware was black or “gun metal”
for recessed IEMs the Ivipq-526 is an nice iption. 10 dollars and the quality is decent
may i know the did your button work on pc / laptop ?
Button works on my Macbook, play/pause, skip, back, and hold for Siri all work. Not sure about Windows, I don’t have a combo jack on my desktop PC.
Nice review as always, might I just say based on your video, the connectors (both the 2 pins and the jack termination) look more of tin cans if you get what I see which personally diminishes the entire look for me. Otherwise it seems a nice cable if you want to color match cables with certain iems like the aful p5. To more iem cable reviews to come definitely a great review!
Yeah I agree, I think the silver anodized color makes the hardware look cheap. Thanks for the support!
I'm curious how many people in the hobby actually used 4.4mm balanced
Just my opinion, but I'm skeptical that IEMs benefit much from balanced cables. Theoretically, if you are using a source device that is "fully balanced" at the 4.4mm headphone out while simultaneously keeping the output impedance and noise floor both very low, there may be a very small increase in audio quality for IEMs. However, I would say in many cases a fully balanced source device has an increased output impedance and noise level vs. its single-ended output which, in theory, makes it worse for IEMs. I also think that when people claim they hear a noticeable difference in sound, they may be actually hearing how the increased output impedance changes the response of the IEM as the impedance mismatch now falls outside the rule of eights (your source output impedance should be 1/8 or lower than the headphone's impedance). For example, the Fiio K11 has a single-ended output impedance of 1.2 ohms, which means it's ok for IEMs with impedance above 1.2 x 8 = 9.6 ohms. Most IEMs are above that. The K11 balanced 4.4mm output is 2.4 ohms, so now your IEM needs to have an impedance greater than 2.4 x 8 = 19.2 ohms. It isn't rare for certain IEMs to be 16 ohms or lower, if you plugged one of these into the K11's 4.4mm, you're going to get an unintended change in response, usually increased bass and decreased mid/treble. Not to mention almost double the noise as well on the K11 example (2.8uV vs. 4.9uV). My guess is that some people like the way the impedance mismatched IEM/source sounds better than what the IEM "normally" sounds like, and then say things like the balanced connection "opens up" the sound of their IEM, or that it "comes alive" from the extra "power". Again, that's just a guess and my opinion. For myself, I don't really hear a benefit. You can test this yourself by getting an impedance adapter and seeing how it changes the way your IEM sounds. Personally, since I mostly use IEMs and not hard-to-drive headphones, I try to use sources with very low output impedance and noise. That's just me, and if people prefer balanced, for whatever reason may be behind it, that's perfectly fine too, since what only really matters at the end of the day is what sounds better better to you. Other people just like the 4.4mm connector, or maybe they have hard-to-drive headphones that benefit from the extra power in their collection alongside IEMs, and want to use 4.4mm exclusively on all their devices for convenience. So yeah, I think there's a good number of people in the hobby using 4.4mm.
does this cable work on the chu 2 i wanna gaming with this one
Yes
Can you tell me if this cable works on the DUNU TITAN S
Can you tell me if this cable or the MC2 works on the DUNU TITAN S
I don’t have the Titan S but it looks like either cable should fit.
been using this cable for over half a year, and I like it to the point that if it breaks I'll just buy another MC2. this sounds like a dumb question, but I wonder if the cable will fit snugly with the Lan. I know that it's a Moondrop IEM (for context, all my other IEMs are from other brands), but the stock cable it comes with seems more akin to the MC1. I'm not gonna use it since i prefer having cables with inline mics, so i plan to pair the Lan with my MC2. It'll be my first actual Moondrop IEM, so I'm actually concerned about the fit even tho they're both from the same company so i shouldn't be as worried as i am rn
I have the LAN. MC2 fits perfectly.
Great video! Just a suggestion, when you wrap the cable, you should include the iem itself cause that's how it usually is or maybe include a part where you do that as well. Anyways, I hope to see your review of TRN BT20 pro soon!
Good idea, I will definitely start including this!
it's a 4 Core cable it's clearly visible this is actually the same cable they use for the DaVinci but with this stupid nylon on top of the cable btw the DaVinci 4 Core cable has lots of microphonics cause it's 4 Core and a litte stiff but with this nylon on top the microphonics are just insane it will be better to remove it
Do you know if the MMCX cable would fit IE200 or IE600?
I don’t use mmcx iem’s. Hopefully someone else can answer.
Can this fit into truthear zero red?
Yes
Once again, I really appreciate the microphone tests. It's oddly overlooked by a lot of other reviews, and for some people it could be difference between an endgame cable or one they are going to put back up on the shelf and keep searching. The build quality on these Moondrop cables appears to be pretty solid, so what intrigues me the most is the microphones. Like I mentioned in the MC1 video, the microphone on that sounds incredible. However, the MC2 appears to have a slightly worse microphone, which is (yet again) surprising when you consider that the cable is roughly the same price as the FreeDSP. In terms of preference (from least to most favorite), I would say FreeDSP > MC2 > MC1. I wonder if the microphone on similar priced offerings to the MC1 (like the Tripowin Grace or the Zombur) would beat it, while having (arguably) better looking materials. Keep up the awesome work!
Yeah I agree the MC1 mic sounds a little better. I’m happy the reviews have information you find useful!
U're one of the rare few who reviewed and share pointers about cables. Would u to able to review about Kinera Ace 2.0 cables? I'm still wondering whether some cable materials can influence the audio output of an IEM
I don’t believe that an IEM cable can have a big enough effect on sound quality to be noticeable unless something is wrong with it, like faulty wiring, inverted polarity, or poor quality copper that oxidizes rapidly, etc. The super expensive cables are cool, but they’re just glorified jewelry. I’ve had my eye on the Kinera Ace 2.0 for a while, I’ll see if I can get my hands on one at some point.
Thanks for the review
If this is so good then maybe their 8 strand Line K would be the perfect cable, albeit a bit expensive
The Line K looks like a nice cable.
@@IEMCableReviewswould you be able to review the line K next?
@cookie2843 I have a couple of reviews lined up already but I’ll see if I can get my hands on a Line K in the future.
What cable will you recommend for the Linsoul Kiwi Little Orquesta? I'm using it to play on PS5.
The MC1 should work, although the MC2 may be worth the extra $12 and is a nicer cable. I’m working on the MC2 review now, I haven’t tested the mic yet. Either will fit the Orchestra Lite just fine.
Thank you for your response.
The stock modular cable that came with the Raptgo Hook-x is fabric. They somehow managed to make it so soft and frictionless that microphonics aren’t an issue. This Dunu cable is cooler though, as Hook-x’s gamer green cable is a bit much sometimes.
How you'd say it changes the sound of some IEMs?
You review all the cables I am interested and next is the Moondrop MC2 lol. Thank you for the good reviews. 👌
I'm actually quite surprised how well the microphone sounds, especially comparing it to the Moondrop FreeDSP, which is 3x the price. Great review as always, keep up the awesome work!
Yeah I was a bit surprised at how good it sounds as well. Thanks!
Excuse me, can I ask you something? I think the Moondrop Evo have an app to change DSP settings right? (I think Little white have em) Does the app provide meaningful change? Also does it able to change the L/R sound balance of the iem, I'm thinking if buying these kind of tws adapter to "fix" the inbalance issue of my Noble Katana.
Strangely the Evo does not connect to the Moondrop Link app at all.
Looks kind of basic but then again, $13 so... Cheers mate
I own a KZ ZSN pro x and am planning on getting the Dunu Titan S2. If I am to buy this module, which connection type should i go with? And would i need to modify them incase i want to use the Dunu with this?
The C-pin version should work fine with the KZ out of the box. For the Titan S2 you would need to mod similar to what I did with mine.
Found out about you a week ago, really appreciate your reviews, exactly what I want from cable reviews.
Thanks, glad to hear it!
10$ qdc cable?
Thanks for the review. It gives me some illustration of what Moondrop Evo is all about. Several things on my note: - TWS Adapter for IEM will always bigger and bulkier, so please don't compare it with any straight forward TWS. TWS Adapters are only for IEM enthusiasts, not regular people. It's practical but, like me, I want to use my favorite IEM. - It's understandable for Evo to only has 2 hours of playtime because of the Dual DAC battery drainer. - I'm a TRN BT30 user and I will stick to it. The difference is BT30 uses mini amplifier on each ear piece, compared to Evo having DAC on ear ear piece. My BT30 runs about 5-6 hours depending on how heavy the connected IEM is, so it's good enough for me. I'm also surprised that Moondrop jumped the gun on Evo, because it's not yet perfect for release.
Thank you for the review, I am currently looking for a cheap good cable to replace my broken cable. Can you review Openheart or Xinhs cables next?
I’ll take a look.
@@IEMCableReviews thank you for considering 🙏 Can you recommend any good sub $10 cable on Aliexpress with recessed 2pins btw?
@pmdthewizard if you can afford a few more dollars to get a Zonie, that would be a good bet.
@@IEMCableReviews That is exactly what I intend to do, thank you. I think it will be worth it
I got a set of these as soon as they came out unfortunately my set keeps depairing from reach other leading me to have to reset them just about evertime i use em tbh wish i just saved my money
I'm looking for a replacement cable for the Meze Alba I've ordered. This looks good. Tripowin always have those nice loose cables. Cheers😊
Alba looks interesting. Let me know how they sound. Thanks!
That's a shame about the microphonics. Was hoping it was the other way around and that nylon cover would help but i guess not. Thanks
Is it heavy on your ears? Like it is more for a desktop use than it is for going around?
No it is not heavy feeling, feels normal if that makes sense.
@@IEMCableReviewsI see. Thanks. I might buy this since I like fabric cables.
hey, Can you make a review about the Tripowin Petrichor 4 core 26 AWG cable please
I’ll add it to my list.
@@IEMCableReviews thank you so much
Would it be possible to stick some foam padding on the case lid so that it presses down on the contacts when closed?
This is exactly what Moondrop did with the Evo case design. Yeah, you could do that but I don’t know how much it would help since there are already magnets holding the hooks in.
Thank you for the review, i didnt know about the charging issue. There is a new "AE01" i wonder if it has the same issues
Looks like the same charging case. Why they keeping making many different versions of basically the same product without fixing what matters seems crazy to me.
between this and tripowin amber? which one is better
If you need 2.5mm or hate microphonics, the Amber. Otherwise the Lyre Mini is better.
Any chance it is compatible to the CHU 2?
Yes
