Man that's a good question. I guess it all depends on how quickly Hawkins picks up the mental side of it all. I know one thing, I'm WAY more excited about Hawkins after seeing him play in the spring game. No you can't tell everything from that but I seen enough to know he is one hell of an athlete.

I think it's Thompson if you need it for a short stint, but if they need someone for a long stretch of games, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to go Hawkins.

@@LockedOnSooners I agree with that. Say Arnold goes down week 5 and not just for the game or the next one, , I think we would see Hawkins if he's ready at all. Would make sense to get him the experience if you can get by with it. BUT, here is hoping and praying for a healthy season across the board, I never like to see a kid go down. It was a total embarrassment for all of them saying he was an OU lean the entire time, when actually OU was 4th having admitted that himself after his commitment to Missouri. As far as coaching that remains to be seen, losing season first year, next year losses to Kansas, Oklahoma state and Arizona in the bowl. Last 4 years of previous recruiting isn’t this season. Besides you have to consistently recruit in the top every year to be on top.

IN TEXAS! and high school players in the state of Texas are, all around, the best in the nation. recruiting in the SEC is not going to be a problem. it's hilarious how much better SEC homers think their conference is. it isn't. we already have a better roster than 80% of the SEC. Vandy, Arkie, Miss St., South Carolina, Florida, Auburn... all shit to average. aTm and Mizzou were both our bitch in the Big 12. that won't change. Tennessee's been doing well under their former Sooner qb head coach, but won't beat OU. Ole Miss? not as long as Lane Kiffin is in charge. LSU might be a tough fight. Bama's elite status is in question sans Saban, but still have good players on the roster, so who knows. Georgia is the only legit elite program in the SEC, right now. It would be nice is the SEC homers would pull their collective heads out of their asses. they've been telling themselves the SEC is the best conference for so long, they actually believe it. the SEC is just like every other conference. 2-3 at the top and then everyone else.

Nobody is expecting those first 4 teams you mentioned to beat ou on the regular. Gators and plainsmen will find their way, eventually.
