I have a Neumann microphone. I also have another one. So I put them both to the test to see how they fare against one another.

Thin Acoustic guitar? Fix it in the mix #01
i love my e530 !!
Which output did you use with the impulses?
Ahhh damn. I was gonna buy a Harley Benton Baritone JA for djenty stuff but that hum could be an annoying problem.
A, was crisp
It was clear right away from the intro, the top end on the sE is a lot hotter than the flatter response from the 102 which is already pushed somewhat in the top end.
Can people read the comments before they type the same thing 450,000 times.geeesshh.
Live music is trash without stage volume
Bro, your iR is terrible, let me give you my boost that you will be delighted with
Why A vs 1 ?! Why not A vs B or 1 vs 2 ?!
The Redsbox does not simulate microphones. It's more of a representation of cab on its own, wich is the unic thing with that.
Thanks for the tip man, time to completely fill my room with foam, should make for some interesting recording sessions 🤣
More cables /plugs less face please
So, you don't like the bodhran? Cause tht's what I'm getting. Answer if you dare.
There are many ways to answer this. I really think the instrument is quite interesting because in a way the person playing it is more connected to it than a drummer would be to their kit. Changing a snare drum's pitch as you play really isn't a thing. Also as small as this channel is, it is giving the instrument a platform and maybe some people have learned about it that way. At least that was the intention, to introduce it to people that may be unaware of it. But personally, I don't listen to almost any of the music in which it is involved. I appreciate the Bodhran in a less direct way and hope to share that appreciation with others. Hope that serves as a daring answer.
Basically EQ of lead channel is similar to rectifier in modern mode. Just misleading naming unlike ENGL E430 Tube Toner preamp. Lo mid is just usual middle, Hi mid is usual treble while treble is preamp presence (Hi cut) as in rectos or E430.
I was just about to purchase this unit. After reading these comments and people with unanswered questions, I've decided to look for something else. Thanks!
Also Trs bzw Stereo Kabel?
P90 is killer!! Other intentions and tones. Provide versatility!! New user P90 xD
Whoever thinks this is for soundproofing needs a ton of reading. But for diffusing and minimizing reverb of course they work
your moving your head to much !!
No one in their right mind would try to "sound proof" with foam. Sound proofing is NOT the same as sound treatment. Considering your points, it's important to make that distinction. Also, leave some room for the holy spirit 👻
you say the redbox is not a substiture for a speaker load....are you sure? does this mean i have to have an amp load box and then the redbox connected between the amp and speaker?
Couldn’t hear a difference
not metal player but ray toro from MCR use p90 too in high gain
Oo le son engl !! si facilement !! c'est ouf !! je le veux !!
I preferred Microphone A, during the "blind listening" portion I felt that Microphone A was "smoother". Microphone 1 had a bit of a bump up in high frequencies., i.e gritty, it was ever so slight in the audio. By the time the microphones were revealed, it was a relief, I had guessed right. There is a tell tale sign for the more capable microphones, a smoothness, which I have begin to hear, in all of the highly revered microphones. But its not only expensive microphones which have this. Some cheaper budget microphones, such as the MXL 990, also have this smoothness - an evenness across the frequency spectrum, and an increased resolution. I think the head basket design, may be a part of this improvement.
Are you supposed to run the stereo cable from the headphone out into a mono cab? Or do you have to split the stero cable at the Cabs and run it into two separate mono cab inputs?
Man I need a secondary guitar with P90s. I freaking LOVE early Black Sabbath tone. Say what you will but those early Iommi riffs were as heavy as anything with taste....although to the bands credit, Black Sabbath's rhythm section made those guitar riffs sound so much fuller.
Almost nobody can hear the difference between the Neumann and the sE. Most listening gets done on crappy PC speakers or on a smartphone, so it makes littler difference at the listening end anyway. Unless you're selling your voice for a living, even the sE is probably more mic than you need.
Mic A. It is rounder and less harsh on my ears. Subtle but enough of a difference for me
1 sounded better to me
I have that SE mic and while I like it, it tends to sound a little hyped in the high mids. It sounds good on female vocals but I don’t like it on many male vocals.
Oh yeah, I was worried at first because I saw these foams and was ready to buy them, and you talked about the fact that they aren’t any good for sound dumpling, but then you say that they are great for echo and reverberation cancellation and sound uniformity, which is indeed what I search these foams for. So yeah, let’s go buy those things. Thanks for the clarification !
Sounds like evh tone
Gibt es dass SE noch zu kaufen ?
Wie er einfach deutsch spricht junge habe ich erst gedacht ob ich was an den ohren habe 😂 ich kann nicht so gut Englisch
Mic 🎤 !!!
I was able to tell right away that I liked mic a (the Neumann) better. It felt more creamy and nice as where mic one was a bit harsher and less pleasing. Listening on beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro Open Studio Headphones and the RME UFX 3
idiot
There’s a band from the early nineties called Trouble. Their guitarist used a SG with a single P-90. That thing chugs! Thank me later. 😊 ua-cam.com/video/7AdfHlxdGIU/v-deo.html
it’s useless. these foams only absorb the high frequencies, making everything unbalanced.
Add orange drop caps. 500k pots. Out of phase
My Redbox 5 is pretty noisy. Compared to my captor x. Not sure how to get the noise down on the Redbox
The P90 IS the classic single coil.
I will not ignore the importance of good mics, but even SM58's are being used in studio's to record vocals. David Bowie maybe...? So who cares at the end. If the recording is good, it's good. No matter what mic was used. It's a misunderstanding that whatever equipment will guarantee you whatever result. I think the differences between the SE and the Neumann are not of that kind that it would matter. For your wallet it would matter...
The standard P-90 has more presence. Hum cancelling a P-90 defeats the natural tone and makes it sound muffled. Also, P-90’s have a lot more of a mid focused tone than humbuckers do. That’s what makes them so different.
The silent p90s at the moment just aren't very good. Someone will nail it in the end. Though I have to say, under high gain, a very bright top end can become hashy.
I used to own a powerball II and I sold it for my Peavey 6505. However, this preamp is very useful, sounds very good, has balanced gain that can sound great with a boost and it's small.
I appreciate your evaluation from a musician’s perspective. I’m a videographer who up until now has been using a Rode NT4 and a Sound Devices MixPre 3. Unfortunately the MixPre 3 has died and it would cost a lot to fix it so I have been looking for alternatives.
Is the headphones port for monitoring?
almost sounds as good as my Joyo American
For more high gain stuff without being a lindy fraylin panzie, flip the magnet and wiring on one p90, so in the the centre switch position it creates ONE HUGE MOTHER OF HUMBUCKERS that is actually the two p90s.
"lindy fraylin panzie" Get your fragile ego checked. It's starting to crack.
@Homo Chomsky Defending your purchase, are you? Brought a set of panzie pick-ups, did you? To "cancel the noise" instead of being a real man and embracing it. Its ok buddy some of us eat steak raw in the middle and chop down trees for firewood 🪵 🪓💪🏻 - others ask for extra soy in their coffee at Starbucks. It's ok, buddy, we're all different. Give me a hug, you big panzie, we'll make a real man out of you yet!
