Weber SmokeFire EX6 Auger and Chute Assembly Replacement

    I like your attitude about the smoke fire. I have almost every type of smoker and they ALL have quirks. For me that is part of the enjoyment of BBQ cooking. Its not an oven or crock-pot . Its a totally new product for Weber and they will get the bugs ironed out.

    • @theeveryman5839
      @theeveryman5839 4 роки тому

      lildapp76 I was not hitting 600F and called Weber. I explained the problem and the rep immediately said they would send me a new auger. I had registered the EX6 the day I received it so I assumed they knew the build date but sent me auger assembly. I didn’t know it was a RevF until I opened it. The replacement did correct the problem.

    After I installed the new part it seems to be working as it should. One thing I’ve noticed with the new auger and chute, is when I start it up, it hits temp and then drops about 20 degrees. Then it recovers and holds the selected temp. Once it stabilizes it holds temp through the whole cook. I’m accustomed to my cookers having to stabilize, so it’s not an issue for me. I’m going to keep an eye on it and see if that’s consistent. Just my observation on my cooker. Cheers!

    Every Man or Girl, Thanks for sharing the install, but I have seen like 5 already, but what is missing is the BIG question does it help???? Looks like you tested for 20 minutes. Not sure if that is sufficient. Please post information in that area. Also, how much pellet storage capacity does the fix consume? Thanks

    • @theeveryman5839
      @theeveryman5839 4 роки тому

      Jeff Marks So yeah I agree, 20 minutes was at the time while doing the video. It held at 600 for about a hour. Then there was a swing down to 560F. It stabilized and ran back up to 600F. I ran a Thermoworks Chef Alarm in the pit while it was heating up and the Weber reading was within a few degrees, so I’m good with the accuracy. To be clear, the Chef Alarm does not go register past 575F but readings up till then were constant. I’ve changed the auger assembly, installed the insert and on 1 run it seems ok. I think it’s a to be determined situation as I use it. I still pushed pellets towards the auger but I honestly do that with my Silverbac so that’s normal for me. Also, I’m good with some swing in temperature, pitmasters have said “trust the swing” and that has been fine for me. But falling temperatures with no recovery is not a good thing, but it did recover. The hopper didn’t take a full bag......well hell let me weigh the bag. Hold on. Ok, the bag and remaining pellets weighed 1.62lbs. When I filled the hopper the auger chute was full and I didn’t put any on the flat part of the insert. One thing on my mind is, if I’m running at 600F, I’m not typically doing that for hours. I’m getting the cooker raging hot and cooking steaks for a short time. I’m wondering if the SmokeFire throttles itself back after going over 600F and then recovers. That’s just something I’m kicking around. Thanks for a great comment!

  • @lynnstewart4398
    @lynnstewart4398 4 роки тому
