    What to stun with Perversive Edge? Go quickly (before the monster target) and stun the biggest threat/best blocker, preferably not the one your Brute friend is about to attack. Following round, get up on them and use that Ice you created to follow up with a melee stun. If you literally play your cards right, the nastiest monster in the room may never get a turn.

    I've been playing Mind Thief in both the digital and board game. I recommend to "never" summon (or if you do, wait until the boss room or near the end of the scenario). It's too crucial to have cards in your deck to extend your number of turns. I avoid burn cards for the same reason ...until the boss room. Get items that allow you to get cards back (and get the necklace that allows you to refresh a spent item). With either type of STA potion, you can keep the stun going for four rounds in a row.

      You can still find the same amount I believe but they're used to revive dead characters instead of adding more time to the battle since if a squad gets wiped all its characters are unavailable until revived.

    This is one of my fave games of all time and IMO is a top 5 trpg on the switch, arguably top 3 (with unicorn overlord and triangle strategy). A couple of things you missed out on: 1. the BGM is engaging and diversified. 2. The aegis tower upgrades/purpose. 3. the "nice" in,-battle dialogue scenes. haha. Might want to warn underage people about that. my nitpicks: 1. postgame could have a bit more story in it. 2. clearer info of how stats are capped. Like i wouldve liked to have an indicator that energy doesnt go past 999 after i kept pumping my generator. I like the special effect sound there when upgrading BTW.

    On the skills (armaments), i like how the game doesnt tell you about the 2 secret skills each mech has and how a few of them are the best in the game. The game is good at buildcrafting and teamcrafting. Certain pilots work well together due to their skills. Here's how i group them: Group A: megumi, juro, tomi, nenji Group b: natsuno, miura, yuki, shu group c: ei, iori ungrouped: ryoko, gouto, hijiyama best pilots/sentinels after unlocks: 1. megumi 2. natsuno 3. juro sentinel ranking: 1. 4th gen (mobility is king, support) 2. 1st gen (big single-target dmg, good mobility, EMPs, tanky) 3. 3rd gen (longest range, slow) 4. 2nd gen (slow) only redeeming quality about 2nd gens is juro is in it. 3rd gen aint good either outside of natsuno. I just put them ahead of 2nd gen as their longer range/bigger aoe skills make up for their slowness. Agreed on supporting Vanillaware and IMO is 1 of the top 3 developers right now. And yes UO is GOTY. the story/gameplay split didnt bother me because you can control your gameplay split by re-playing missions. theres alot of reasons to grind: re-setting pilots who out, so many things to upgrade (sentinels, armaments, aegis tower, pilot levels).

    • @89Games
      @89Games 10 днів тому

      True, there was a ton of upgrades and definitely agree on the fourth gens. Especially megumi's sentinel. Her upgraded missile barrage was my favorite and most common attack to use.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 10 днів тому

      @@89Games yeah its 4th gens ability to go anywhere at decent speed is excellent for positioning/back attacks (love the back attack multiplier in this game. Makes positionig significant). Megumi is the best pilot in the game. Team up with Juro (who is also one of the top pilots). Best pilot skills. Best armament (high energy pulse lasers). Low cooldown, great dmg with back attack and good range. one of the best passives in the game with forced cooldown device.

    Hahaha. I thought you werent going to cover 13 sentinels anymore! I approve of this. IMO engaging story does this game a disservice. Its one of the GOATs story wise. Its 70% story, 30% gameplay for the main game only. In post-game, its 0% story, 100% gameplay. Agreed on the art. Its beautiful. Another visual masterpiece from Vanillaware. Each character is well-voiced and well-writted. The game doesnt back away from possibly uncomfortable characteristics and heavy themes.

      I hunkered down and got it done. I think the list format helps me focus more and made this vid easier to do. Yes, the story is fantastic and maybe I didn't articulate that as well as I should've. It definitely reminded me of Chrono Trigger and Cross because of the "time" mechanic and dystopian future. I’m thankful for tou explanation but I think it doesn’t cover Buffs ): I haven’t found one that helps me in this matter at least. Like I want to put two buffs on my Front Row but the first goes right and the other goes to another unit 💔 Is there a limit to buffs? I think the game should have implemented a condition to NOT do stuff like Not use Physickal Atk Up on a Mage unit (which is happening to me)

    • @89Games
      @89Games 12 днів тому

      Here are a few things you could try; 1 set the buff to go off specifically on a non caster class. This will prevent it from being used on a mage. 2 set the skill to be used on the front or back row, whichever doesn't have the caster. 3 manipulate the initiative of your characters with items so that a physical attack character will go before the caster. Remember too that if 2 abilities have "limited" in their descriptions and have the same trigger such as "beginning of the battle" only one will go off. Most results can be achieved through the tactics system, but it may take some very creative brain hurting thinking. At least it did for me lol

  • @PriestessOfSlaanesh
    @PriestessOfSlaanesh 27 днів тому

    Started true zenorian 2 days ago, Allrdy rushed trough drakenholm and elheim. Its honestly very very easy once you have experience from expert. Especially if you just run the usual stuff early like Hilda Dragoon-Cathat instant freeze comp. But even without the boardclear stuff, my other "normal" units perform rly good too and oneshot basically everything. Its sadly... a really really easy game. Im usually a coward. Usually i play anything on normal. However.... This game has the same issue as persona 5. The Dragoon dive I found seems better than yours no offense. I found it on UA-cam but forget who made it, it uses Gilbert as an initiative and attack buffer, a which for ice conferral and her own ice attacks only to be used on those that aren’t frozen, and a cleric that uses quick impetus. The Wuven also used the wyvern reins for more damage and true strike as well as she has a carnelian pendant for 3 AP, the quick impetus makes that 4 and she can dragoon dive twice and on the second one since they should all be frozen is a free one to get off and on use Gilbert uses the gamblers coin on the Wyvern to boost the damage even more and since it’s a true strike the accuracy drop doesn’t matter

    • @chainsawboy2388
      @chainsawboy2388 Місяць тому

      Ps for 5 units he didn’t have one so I added Morard with his ice Axe for more freezing but not hitting frozen targets that is key

    • @chainsawboy2388
      @chainsawboy2388 Місяць тому

      Also the 4 man version is amazing for coliseum since in the later fights you can just have the wyvern not cast the second dive and you win by default assuming you went first since they never unfreeze, even the Amalia fight (the first one) even those go Amalia herself is immune to freeze, the lords of the deep sucked to fight though I had to troubleshoot over and over until I finally beat it with a scuffed version of the original unit, unfortunately I forget what I did exactly but I do remember Gilbert was swapped for a Rouge with 4 PP

    • @chainsawboy2388
      @chainsawboy2388 Місяць тому

      Oh yeah if anyone wants to exact positions it’s the Wyvern in the back left, cleric in the back middle, Witch and the back right, and Gilbert in the front middle (I had Morard in the front right)

    • @89Games
      @89Games Місяць тому

      Oh for sure this is better. I had put a lot of the items required on the other two units, so I wasn't able to buff my Wyvern unit near as much as would be possible. The great part about the board wipe attackers, is that all of them are viable if buffed properly, especially if you go all out for just one unit. Spreading out the buffs and items for multiple units can give you more options, but does make each of them a bit less effective than they could be.

    Can you breakdown the other teams shown in this video.

    • @89Games
      @89Games Місяць тому

      They aren't board attackers so I didn't cover them, but the quick version is Alain's unit is really tanky with monica and scarlett providing healing while Alain and the two landsknechts provide the damage. Gilbert's unit makes use of the dirty gambler's coin to increase the damage and crit rate of the 2 swordmasters' true strike attacks (originally there were three swordmasters here instead of the werelion which worked really well for anything before Albion), while the viking and werelion provide row attacks. Finally, Eltolinde's unit I used mainly as a defensive unit to hold points under attack, hence the heavy units out front with the the healers in back.

    Hey 89. Update from me with 2 days left in the nintendo sale: 1. stopped playing MUA3. i've transitioned to fell seal: arbiters mark since the system is engaging mark and i've been able to get past the meh art style/animations. 2. bought valkyria chronicles 4 and i plan to play that as my next game. $9.99 for the game + all DLCs. I enjoyed valkyria chronicles 1 and i highly recommend checking it out if you're looking to add games to your docket after 13 sentinels. Thought its a good deal for $9.99. 4. Scouted other trpgs. Have you played any of the mercenaries games (latest is mercenaries lament) or record of agarest war? They seem interesting, especially the latter. I've been keeping my eye on metal slug too, looks like it finally has a release window for this fall, but it's been delayed several times so we'll see. • @TheRobversion1
    @TheRobversion1 Місяць тому

    Man the game was quick! Just finished it. Glad i bought MUA 3 too as now i'm on to the next game. 5 insights towards the end: 1. Game is pretty good at propelling you forward and not ruining momentum. Ending was fine with 1 twist. 2. This is probably the quickest game i've ever played due to a lack of postgame content (you can just replay everything on higher difficulty, no new fights/unlockables). I think i finished it in 15 hours across 3 days (fri, sat, sun). I wish the game was longer. 3. the game gives you that 8th squad slot in the final battle. Too late imo. I was able to unlock 23/38 strategist nodes by the end. I never unlocked erik. Lol. 4. never figured out the speed stat. Lol. Lots of interesting builds though once you have multiple copies of certain gear. 5. Deck i took into the final battle: 7 armor of steel 5 power of lightning +2 12 trick attack +2 23 trick attack +1 (0 cost) 3 random (picked attack cards like SOA) so yes half of my 47 card deck was 0 cost. and everything else was 1 cost. 35 cards in my deck allowed me to draw a card, 12 allowed me to draw 2. This setup technically allowed me to have access to my full deck in turn 1 of almost every fight as almost every time i was using a card it was getting replaced. yea this allowed me to 1st turn kill most enemies and even most bosses. At most bosses would survive 2 turns (outside of the final boss). Anyway it was a great game. shouldve been cheaper and longer and thats why it gets knocked down a couple of pegs in my book. Definitely in my top 10 TRPGS on the switch of all time.

  • @TheRobversion1
    @TheRobversion1 Місяць тому

    Oks. I couldnt put the game down. LOL. mission 13 now and i finally hit 7 deployables. Havent unlocked erik (the cavalry). heres some stuff that have changed in my playthrough: 1. Didnt notice before there were cost +1s on green nodes on the strategist board. Beelined for it instead. That was a big power spike. It allowed me to remove source of power and supplies in my deck. 2. due to the way my deck is constructed now, i'm doing alot of 1-turn kills. Sometimes i'd spam like 10+ TA in a row and just nuking enemies on round 1. The high def from gear (shields, blessed talisman) help me survive 1st strikes. Supplemented by warrior armor for those wth low hp. POL keeps enemies paralyzed most of the time so i only ever take dmg when enemies go 1st. 3. since you discard 3 after every battle, pretty much we're customizing a 47 card deck at most. This game has so many combinations! i havent even gotten to any +2 cards yet. So far my deck looks like this: 5 AOS 4 SOA: strong +1 8 TS +1 7 POL +1 23 TA +1 so yeah almost half my deck is TA. 31 of my cards are 0 cost. I pretty much burn through most of my hand. I'm still polishing the balance but i really enjoy where my deck is at now. i eventually want to get 2 more TA +1 just to ensure i dont hit a lull when cycling through the deck.

      @@89Games haha. Cool to know. I was wondering if my wife is right and i'm spending too much on games. She gives me the sideeye when i buy. Good to know i'm still spending in moderation. I am good with my budget now though as the breadth of games i can play has become limited ever since i sold my steam deck and ps4. That helps keep on the 1 cheap game per month or 1 pricey game per 2 months timeline. So yeah new observations on cards now that i have my own copy; 1. voltage is indeed xp for levelling up. All stats during level up arent permanent. Its just for the battle. This means the stat icreases you're getting are primarily from strategist or gear. 2. I tried the harder difficulty and it was tough. I went back to normal. I didnt enjoy having most of my team die. I already have 1 guy dying when i get careless on normal as it is. what difficulty are you playing in? 3. Enemy AI tends to go after lowest Hp 1st before lowest def. This means, warrior armor is bad for mr. Muscles if you want enemies to be drawn to him more. Better to put warrior armor on other low hp units like seth, the archer or leon.

      @@89Games well i will catch up a bit due to it being the weekend. Lets see. So far at mission 6. 2 more observations: 1. the game draws from an item pool in certain stages.for stage rewards. Like i noticed i got offered that cat doll and you picked it. I ended up npt picking it because i was offered gold shield (+4 def) but you didnt get offered it. 2. the treasure chest items are fixed. I got the spiked armor in the same location. 3. defense/offense is badly worded. It doesnt increase your dmg. It gives you dmg reduction + weak attack. Some changes to my deck: 1. like you i've adjusted my gameplay. With so much strength of arms, i pushed out all ranged attacks from my deck. I pretty much just have 4 attack cards: strength of arms (weak), strength of arms (strong), execution (0 cost attack) and TA. why? I noticed the dmg bonus of SOA is ignore def. You'll always get that +5 bonus. 2. i tried out def/off but i am going to move away from it as the atk portion is too weak for my tastes. 3. I removed all defensive shields + potions and just rely on: muscles of steel (best dmg reduction card for me IMO), AOS and plead for mercy.

    I dont think the "card is removed until combat ends" is a detriment to 50 card decks. Its only a detriment to decks with 15 cards or less. Used cards dont go back into the deck until you've run through your whole deck. So either way you're seeing that card once. Its just a balance for those who like having very small decks. the accuracy and field of vision items are the worst items in the game imo. cost upgrades on level ups are temporary. Certain classes get it at a higher chance in my observation over others like the scout.

  • @TheRobversion1
    @TheRobversion1 Місяць тому

    I think muscles of steel is better than the strong defensive shields. fighting spirit + source of power + strength of arms strong is a good combo. for the cost though imo i'd still go with 1 AOS + 1 source of power + 3 TA. I Like that new supplies you have that enhances SOP to cost 2. Its a good alternative to having many SOP in the deck. You shouldnt skip throwing stones when it comes up and you still have ranged boost or poison arrow in the deck. Throwing stones is the best ranged card i've seen so far. I like that def/off card. great alternative to muscles of steel/defensive shields. I agree this game may not be worth $40 to some people but for sure its worth $30 and its definitely better value than alot of the AAA games out there because this game is actually great at something/unique. I'd skip all DLC though.

      Agreed on muscles of steel. I think the TA and Fighting Spirit starts a comparable to each other. Kinda depends on the passives you go with early on. @@89Games yeah i'm going with dmg per cost thats why i said TA pulls ahead. Never mind actually mitigating dmg while you're at it. Re-played the demo again and glad to find out that version of supplies is in the demo. I thought it was just the one for potions. I'd say though a 50/50 split with source of power isnt good. I think a 60/40 split is better. Like right now i'm running 4 SOP and 2 supplies. Its so fantastic for the archer to draw 3 throwing stones in the opening hand. I'm running 5 in the deck currently. What i like about it is it isnt a dead card like the special arrows. To evertone else, its still a normal attack. I dont mind as much the desire to monetize if the dev makes a great game, doesnt nickel and dime while also charging a fair price for the DLC. but yeah most nowadays wont do that. To be fair to acquire, this game has great gameplay. Its just that it lacks story whig makes it not worth the $40 price tag. Other games i've seen, including AAA, arent just at the same price but actually have mediocre gameplay AND story. and comparing this to other indies with the same price tag like Capes, CARDS RPG pulls ahead in value because its actually an engaging, fun game.
