Hey fellow Cosmic Hobbyists! As you may have already seen, Lily is the great decider of ties! She has the job of choosing which scratch built vessel I will make next in the Pathfinder adventure series! She will have to choose between an old school colony transport vessel and a space based dry dock repair vessel. The colony transport vessel was an original attempt by the precursor of CQH Aerospa...

Desolate Rocky Planet Diorama - What Did The Explorers Find?
Переглядів 3,1 тис.8 місяців тому
Welcome back my fellow cosmic hobbyists! The last we saw of our intrepid crew of the Pathfinder, they were on their way to one of the planets identified as possibly harboring life. By utilizing the space warping drive system aboard the Pathfinder, the crew was able to arrive to the planet orbiting Proxima Centauri about 2 weeks after leaving earth. When they arrived, they found many good spots ...
Epic Scratchbuilt Interstellar Spaceship - Kitbash Model USS Pathfinder RV-01
Переглядів 27 тис.8 місяців тому
Hello fellow cosmic hobbyists. I wanted to share an exciting scratch built spaceship scale model I recently made. This ship, called the Pathfinder is made from styrene and various bits from kids toys, barbeque dip cups, plastic tubing a spice container lid and many other objects. This is constructed in N-scale (using 1/160th scale). In my imaginary interstellar exploration world, this ship was ...
USS Pathfinder Docked Near Fallon - Scale Model
Переглядів 9719 місяців тому
I created this scratch-built, scale model spaceship in 2023. It is an N-scale model and on top of using new pieces of styrene, it also utilized things like plastic fruit cups, BBQ dip cups and many misc. model pieces. I thought It'd be fun to do some shooting in the desert areas near Fallon, Nevada with it to make it look like it was hovering over the ground out there. If you look close, you ca...
This is so cool!!
Thank you!!🚀😊
Great job!!

Great model! You are so talented!
Thank you very much!!

@@cecilroberts1971 thank you so much!!🚀🙂
I got my initial stuff. nice 2 by 2 cutting board a few sheets of styrene and some glue. standard testors plastic cement. still looking for weld 3. and some little train set people for scale. im having trouble making straight cuts even with a ruler . Guess im new . Green horn as it were. the sheets were from hobby lobby. three sheets of 12 by 8 for 4 bucks per pack of three. got three packs. sheesh its kinda expensive but thats okay. i envy your big ol sheet of sty :D
@@goaway152 heck yeah!! Starting out strong for sure. If you need weld on 3, Amazon sells it for a decent price. I just bought a 1/4 pint size of it for my dad. That much can last for quite a while. I do have a bunch of styrene and would def be willing to sell some if you want. Shoot me a message on my cosmic quest hobbies gmail address if you'd like me to check my stash! You're definitely heading into a wonderfully addicting. One more tidbit... when you cut the styrene, start with light cuts and work your way deeper into the cuts, you can either snap the styrene once it's deep enough or cut all the way through! Give me a shout if you have any questions🚀🙂
@CosmicQuestHobbies does Weld on 3 make one as high as testors plastic cement. I got about halfway through my planned build session last night and I was seeing beautiful green alien women by the time I was done LOL. Had to open my windows and turn on a fan lol
@@goaway152 It does have an odor for sure!! It's all part of the charm, lol..
Strong work 💪 Love the lights ✨
@@PaulDeLeon-vf8ji heck yeah!! Thanks man🚀🙂
That's incredible. The attention to detail is fantastic! As a colony ship, does it venture to scouted worlds, or scout its own spots for colonization?
@@theastralarchive9594 thank you!! So far in the story line, it was going to travel to Proxima Centauri. After the crew of the Pathfinder find out that the planet they were going to is pretty inhospitable, they will likely explore some other options. Thank you so much for watching🚀🙂
@ that is so cool. Godspeed on their journey :)
Another amazing build! Hope we get to also see the space dry dock too!
@@gaveintothedarkness thank you so much!! The dry dock is up next. Will start on the bird after the holiday!!🚀🙂
i like that we can look at your watch to see the passage of build time. :D man this is so great.
Lol. Yeah. Kind of gives a timeframe of construction! Thank you!!
fruit cup warp dive. Priceless.
Even space ships need a serving of fruit!
the fact that is has Point defense weapons tells me that there are others out there who aren't so friendly within your lore.
@@goaway152 agreed. I think there are a few "nasties" out there. 🚀🙂
looks like she's seen some nebula "rust" erosion. wonder how long shes been in service? Great looking model. im in love with this channel and have decided to make my own thoughts real.
@@goaway152 very cool!! My theory is that it's been kicking around for about 100 years or so. Can't wait to see where your thoughts take you🚀🙂
@@CosmicQuestHobbies know anywhere i cant find styro?.. no local stores have it .
@goaway152 yeah, it's hard finding good sources for styrene. I know some people buy the for sale signs from home stores. I personally just bought a bunch from a local sign making supplier when I was back in Michigan. I would try looking for a source like that?
i like that its not automatically weird looking.
@@goaway152 thank you goaway! Thank you for watching!!

This is an incredible build! Relaxing to watch, and inspiring to see such an intricate model created with ease! Great job.
@@thespidercellar thank you!! I appreciate your kind words🚀🙂
Very cool video! Thanks! The building job is very impressive. I love the design so early 80’s. Love the general shape very angular. I think you should maybe add more weathering effect on the paint job specificly on the edge of the ship. But it’s wonderfull!
@@bobby6killer639 thank you so much for watching!! Note taken on the weathering and thank you for the kind words🚀🙂
This came out marvelous!!

You made such cool and highly detailed model 😊😊😊
@@cerisekappes580 thank you very much!! I appreciate your always kind words🚀🙂
@ you are very welcome 🤗
Not knocking it. But why does everyone weather their spaceships like it's a tank?
Thanks for the question WiFuzzy! I'm definitely still learning weathering, etc.. for these things. My concept for this ship was that it was like 100 years old because its been kicking around for a long time and got all kinds of things added to it over that time period. It kinds of reminds me of a rusty old Buick that someone got stuck driving as their first car. I would likely have only minimal weathering on a newer vessel, limiting it to things like carbon around engines, etc..
Great video! Where did you get that "ink well" for your adhesive?
Thank you Suchy!! The glue holder was sent to me by a viewer. His name is Will from Gunpla Caddy. Here is a link to his Instagram page - instagram.com/gunpla_caddy/
This is a really great model and storyline, just subbed, I would love to have the space to be able to build a model like this. Cheers from South Australia.
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your kind words. I'm quickly running out of space myself, lol. Cheers right back at ya from Reno, Nevada🚀😊
Just as a nit-pick: if they're out in interstellar space (and a ship is is a vanishingly-small target for a warp ship to find), why've they got a shuttle? If it's for a projected landing at PC (and methinks they're not going to be happy hamsters after they see that planet you did the diorama of...), shouldn't it be under a protective cover or something for the duration of the trip? Putting it into a hangar with a platform that slides in and out would've been cool. :)
Good questions!! The thoughts going through my noggin were that the shuttle could've been used for landings at planets, asteroids, etc.. Or for examination on the outside of the ship for repair necessity. I agree, the crew probably won't like what they find on the planet they are tentatively headed too, lol. Not a very hospitable place. I'm thinking that once the ship is in space for a while, one of the warp capable ships will eventually bring them the information that PC is probably not going to be a great place to live, and may want to divert to a more hospitable location. One of the things I didn't explain in the video is that the upper landing pad actually goes into a garage like structure, similar to what the communication dishes go into. I mostly just put the shuttle on the pad to help give a sense of scale.
Curves. Ahhh. Now we're cookin' with gas! :) At 1/350 scale, people probably aren't a major concern, but those of us building 1/350-scale Star Trek models found one Japanese model maker who makes a set of Japanese WWII sailors that can easily be painted to look like anyone you like. Got mine through Amazon, but pretty sure Hobbylink Japan has them too. Pity you didn't have room to make it just a tidge bigger. Drop the number of crew and it could've been N-scale like all the other Pathfinderverse creations. Looking forward to the next project!
Hey Empire Ranger! Thanks for the tip on the figures!! I 3d printed some teeny-tiny little astronauts. I didn't end up using them. I totally agree on the bummer about not having space for a bigger n scale ship. That would've been sweet!! I definitely would've been able to fit some more stuff on the ship. I look forward to having a bigger space some day for my builds. Thanks so much for watching the video and the tip on the small figures🚀😊
Ditto to everything everyone has said. Sick a massive build with so much detail and i agree, it's incredible to see how your imagination takes shape from a rough sketch!!! Great job and can't wait to see more!!!
Thank you Erika!! I'm glad to finally be able to share this build with everyone. It was a long time coming for sure. Thank you so much for your kind words😊🚀
