I Built This Mysterious Alien Artifact From Scratch!
Hello fellow Cosmic Hobbyists!! I wanted to share this unique; one of a kind, scratch built alien artifact satellite that I built. The scenario I imagine is that the crew of the Pathfinder research vessel was on a planet in the Proxima Centauri system and received a unique energy signature that was emanating from nearby, at one of the moons orbiting a planet in that system. The energy signature was very weak so they weren’t able to detect it until it got into view of the ships sensors. The crew was extremely excited as this is definitive proof of intelligent life outside of Earth! But what does the satellite do? What is its purpose?! The engineers at CQH Aerospace have some ideas but it will take some more research to determine the true nature of this amazing alien artifact!
On to the build… The majority of this model was built with basic styrene sheet, using my favorite Weld-on 3 solvent. I also used some fluted tubing from the centers of the rolls of puppy potty bags. There were many, miscellaneous greebly bits used throughout as well. I imagined many tubes, conduits, fans and computer cores being housed in the base and modulator tower stack. This is also my first build using LEDS and a basic electronic circuit. I wanted to give the effect of a pulsating power core to add some life to the build. I am pretty pleased with the way it turned out. I also used a lot of Vallejo paints, Alclad gloss and matte as well as my favorite oil washes to get my final effects. I truly hope you enjoy the build!

Building a Desolate Rocky Planet Diorama | A New Mineral is Found!
Переглядів 2,1 тис.Місяць тому
Welcome back my fellow cosmic hobbyists! The last we saw of our intrepid crew of the Pathfinder, they were on their way to one of the planets identified as possibly harboring life. By utilizing the space warping drive system aboard the Pathfinder, the crew was able to arrive to the planet orbiting Proxima Centauri about 2 weeks after leaving earth. When they arrived, they found many good spots ...
Epic Scratchbuilt Interstellar Spaceship - Kitbash Model USS Pathfinder RV-01
Переглядів 15 тис.Місяць тому
Hello fellow cosmic hobbyists. I wanted to share an exciting scratch built spaceship scale model I recently made. This ship, called the Pathfinder is made from styrene and various bits from kids toys, barbeque dip cups, plastic tubing a spice container lid and many other objects. This is constructed in N-scale (using 1/160th scale). In my imaginary interstellar exploration world, this ship was ...
USS Pathfinder Docked Near Fallon - Scale Model
Переглядів 5402 місяці тому
I created this scratch-built, scale model spaceship in 2023. It is an N-scale model and on top of using new pieces of styrene, it also utilized things like plastic fruit cups, BBQ dip cups and many misc. model pieces. I thought It'd be fun to do some shooting in the desert areas near Fallon, Nevada with it to make it look like it was hovering over the ground out there. If you look close, you ca...
So coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool. :)
Thank you!! I am glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you for watching 🙂
I very much enjoyed this build and I'm very envious of the 'parts' boxes you have . May I be so bold and ask if you plan to add any form of markings or Alien text ?
Thank you for your kind words! It's funny you ask about the alien text or markings. I had originally planned to put some on the satellite model but I was getting antsy to get the model done so I could get the video done and posted. I am planning to create some kind of alien language, or markings, to possibly put on future models however. I got those parts bins from a local Harbor Freight and spent some time tying to get all the bits in order. Collecting all that stuff seems like a never ending process, lol. Thank you for watching the video. 🙂
What I hope a lot of people, especially younger ones realise is that this doesn't require expensive tools but just creativity, a straight edge, and a lot of stuff you could probably get from a dollar store.
Thank you Craig!! I 100% agree. I think the most important think is imagination. I have watched videos where beautiful objects were made from cereal box cardboard and craft paint. Thank you so much for watching!!
That was bloody marvelous. I'm not a builder, although I could seriously get into it. I am a writer and I loved listening to your imaginings of what each part does and what the people are doing
Thank you!! I love coming up with the background story. It's almost as much fun for me to see where it's going to go as it is for the watcher! Thank you for watching!!
Link to circle cutter please
Hey SpaceNazi. Here's an Amazon link to the cutter. www.amazon.com/DSPIAE-Stepless-Adjustment-Circular-Cutter/dp/B07MHMNZMZ/ref=sr_1_1?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._-MQkt5gt20_SCXj6wUMH4Ic1z7dS1Rgyz1fLmIl7-ZoEGbMC4wZbv3mH6rrqZTGGnY6dGB3zEGWKFYTyp-MKqDzuSQbyEvv7SO6BhXVi_XxyTQg4l4ASWSRLqRY9isG_f0CjoGiSHvLVIs3PYcTNKSu0EYPA-t6bDJHLSgXmtoL5Iz2nAoEa4u2Su6mGOtMdgL4ibFax4v0Pcno10gJZ4PrxDY61fJv4XFqR9du3QfQrlY0b6sXStTdNrFMDl7AXxgf7F-3U22gpZh4MTX-gKcNeJvkbM2Zu1uY_0lWstw.M8if6tsaszX_sKiTPRsdnFyK92k7bFfwOc0XjOSFi_8&dib_tag=se&keywords=dspiae+circle+cutter&qid=1716525012&sr=8-1
Thanks
Awww yisss, another video!!!
Thank you for your excitement :) I had a blast making this satellite.
If you haven't seen the build of the Pathfinder research vessel yet, check it out here! ua-cam.com/video/rJNANGWWp9o/v-deo.html
I am so proud of you! God has blessed you with an incredible gift of imagination and creativity! It amazes me how you can bring your ideas from 2d to to life.
Thank you!! I love that you enjoy my creations right along with me!! 😘😘 Love you to Proxima Centauri and back 🙂
Your ship is awsome!... but I demand puppy cameo!
I love the idea!! I will for sure get a puppy cameo in an upcoming build :)
@CosmicQuestHobbies just watched all your vids. You got yourself a sub! It looks like you have experience at this, have you been doing this a while?
@@kylehibshman6619 I do have another channel that my wife and I shared some of our hiking and other related things. I was able to get a bit of practice with editing (which I still need a lot of work), but also voiceover stuff. As far as the ship and diorama construction, I only have one other scratch build that I did, and that was during covid as a form of therapy, lol. I did not do video of it but do have a lot of pictures. I might post a few on the community tab here, but I do have some pics of that build on my Cosmic Quest Hobbies instagram page. Thank you for the kind words!!
Brilliant video mate, and the background story is amazing 😉👍
Thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching 🙂.
Great work. Your channel is the first one I've seen that makes modeling part of a larger story.
Thank you kindly!! I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂. I greatly enjoy imagining how the story might go and what unique things may happen to the intrepid explorers. That is half the fun for me for sure!! Thank you again for watching.
So what does this ancient alien artifact do ?!
Hey Michael, thanks for watching. I added "satellite" to the title. This is kind of a part to a imagined story of the crew of my Pathfinder research vessel build. The going thought by those on the vessel and engineers back at CQH Aerospace is that this is a type of communication relay satellite. Thanks for your question😊
Great work!! You must spend a fortune on styrene sheets. If I were you I'd just go buy "for sale" signs. I usually get mine at Walmart, but you can find them anywhere.
Thank you DavidMiller!! I will have to check into those "for sale" signs for sure. That's a great idea!! I actually bought a bunch of styrene from a company called Piedmont Plastics. I was able to buy about 40-50 sheets of 12"x24" styrene in various thicknesses. I had to buy $75 worth to get free shipping but I got a lot! I should have enough for a couple more models. Unfortunately, they stopped doing online sales so I will need to look around for different sources now. I'll definitely look into your tip 😊
Great built thank you for posting this video of your scratch build. Looking forward to your next video 😂
Thank you Salc!! I got the construction started on the next one! I wish they went faster 😊. Thank you so much for watching.
Very cool build, thanks for sharing
Thank you for your kind words! Thank you for watching!!
Look incredible!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you SummerSunshine! I am thankful for your kind words 😊. Thank you so much for watching!!
Great build well done! Your color choices look good too!
Thank you Trashbash!! I've been enjoying your builds as well 😀. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome. Really looking forward to more.
Thank you! I just started the newest build. I wish they went faster 😊
Awesome looking project!!!
Thank you!! I truly appreciate your kind words. Thank you for watching!!
@@CosmicQuestHobbies you are welcome 🤗 Really cool builds ☺️
WOW! great job of creation. I'm glad your remembered the damage caused by cosmic dust and small particles having hit the satellite over the years (or alien time equvlent 🚀 )
Thank you!! Yeah.. I figured it just wouldn't be right to keep it pristine looking after all the years 🙂 thank you for watching!!
Love your videos!
Thank you Zekiakbas!! I very much appreciate you watching🙂.
Insane amount of creativity!!! Those colors you choose are amazing!!! Great job and can't wait to see more!
Thank you Erika!! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it 🙂
Great model!!
Thank you!!
You might want to look into reed switches that are switched by magnets in proximity. You can then dedicate a greebly with an embeded magnet as your switch, completely invisible.
That is a cool idea!! I told my wife about your comment and we started brain storming about the different greebly ideas we could do for the switches🙂. Thank you for watching!!
I was looking forward to this and I am not dissapointed.
Thank you Rhino!! I truly appreciate your kind words🙂 thank you for watching!!
Wow! Very impressive!
Thank you Neil! I truly appreciate it 🙂 thank you for watching!!
perfekt Modell amazing
Thank you!!
This is very inspirational. I've been looking at getting into prop building or something similar. I don't have the ability to set up a dedicated workspace with tools and everything. But some small scale spaceships cut from styrene could be done. This looks great!
Thank you so much!! I totally agree that this is a nice way to get into building things like that. I have found that it is a great way to calm the mind as well :) Thank you for watching and commenting!!
That is a pretty good space ship model, an excellent job, of course it would have been a little bit better if you had added some lighting to it but it still looks very good nonetheless
Hey John! Thanks for watching!! I totally agree that lights would bring this ship to the next level. That's definitely in the works for a future build 🙂
Oh and also the soundtrack is stellar x
Thank you!!
I really love your approach to storytelling to go along with the build. Can’t wait for the next episode - we need to know what’s on the dark side of that moon 🌒
Thank you for the kind words!! I look forward to "sharing" what the mysterious signal is around that moon 😊.
Wow I really enjoyed this!
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you watching 😊
Therd are reas that would benefit from pin washing
Thank you John! I'm thinking about trying the pin washing on one of my next builds as I might be doing some panel line scribing. It seems like the pin washing might be just the thing for that?
I'm in awe of the insane amount of detail on this beast, not to mention the fact that almost all of it was made by hand! Seeing it come together was fascinating and really gratifying. Thanks for sharing this with us, looking forward to seeing your other creations!
Thank you very much for your kind words!! I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊.
Excellent!
Thank you Dr. Mortose!!
Thanks for sharing. What a great build.
Thank you for the kind words!! It was a blast to make🙂 I appreciate you watching!
Just finding your channel! Nice work! What is that little nibbler tool you are using to put those insets into the styrene?
Thank you!! It is a hand nibbler. I just did a quick search for "hand nibbler" on Amazon. It looks like a bunch of similar ones popped up. Pretty reasonable prices.. $15-20.
Very clever. Found your Pathfinder scratchbuild, was "forced " to watch the Fallon NV video and now this--- Gotta say, very clever builds and backstories (they make the build time go better-er and good-er 😃) Yeah, clicked "subscribe" gotta see how the ol' CQH story(s) unfolds.
Awesome!! Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂 I also look forward to what CQH Aerospace has in store for our interstellar adventures. I just wish the models would build themselves faster, lol.
What a beautyfull ship!🏆
Thank you very much. I appreciate you watching the video and hope you enjoyed it!! 🙂
Old hard drive versatility is unmatched. There is always a reason to keep them around. Looking good! The unobtainium isn't going to obtain itself!
Heck yeah. Old hard drives for the win, lol. I hear the unobtanium can be unabtainable at times?!
Adam Savage would love your build! Great work, really enjoyed watching your build process. Look forward to your future projects. Best wishes from Scotland.
Thank you Gavinstirling!! That is very nice of you to say🙂 I look forward to showing my future builds to everyone. Thank you for watching!
Really enjoyed this build. I like how you gave the ship a backstory and shared your reasons behind the design of the ship. Looks like you may have a winning formula here given how many people commented. Subscribed!
Thank you for the kind words 🙂 I am super glad you enjoyed it. I have fun coming up with the story behind the build!! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!
Really nice, very interesting storyline.
Thank you!! I appreciate your kind words and thank you for watching🙂
Awesome build and story telling!
Thank you Geolog! I appreciate you watching 🙂
Wow.
Thank you Fran!!
