The twilight descent was spectacular and I think the surface on the corner junction with Woodhead has got worse since I did it in 2013. Great marbled skies out there. I only know Kirk Smeaton from the roads but I've wondered about some of the tracks and trails in that North Donny area.

Nice route, you've got a bit of everything in this one. I did a 12 Hour which had a looping section around Hatfield and Thorne but you know the lanes and cycle paths like the back of your hand. Had to laugh when you overtook the budget taxi... a Doncaster Rickshaw.

Yes a right climb that Gordon. That bike is a touring bike genesis tour defer 30 not a bike for climbing. But it's exercise.

Nice one, Matt. It's lovely around Worsborough. Was the big climb you mentioned in the Birdwell area? In the late 80s there was a 40km walking/running event called "The Passport to Yorkshire" starting near the res' and taking in some great countryside around Dodworth, Cawthorne, Hoylandswaine. I've based quite a few bike rides on that event.

If you go into churchyard at High Melton you can get straight into closed off college grounds.

Plenty of variety on this one. I couldn't pin it down but I'm guessing it's the SE side of Barnsley - lovely lanes.

In the 90s I did a running race with the Milton Arms as HQ in Elsecar & we came through Wentworth - nice country around there. Interesting church.

Nice little tour of Donny, Matt. It's a few years since I was there - went to a cinema and an all-night McD on the top side & walked back to the rail & bus station which had a shopping centre bolted on - I think that's the place around the 7 min mark.

I saw a Kestrel flap over that fence carrying a pheasant. Thought it had something entangled on its leg. Never seen take off power like it.
