lovely u looked amazing
I applaud you for putting in the time and effort to make the costume, especially while not well and having a challenging month. Your daughter looks adorable in her costume, made with so much love!
I ADORE that skirt! 😍😍 I want to make one of my own!
Are you releasing that dress pattern for sale? I want it!
You did amazing! I desperately wanted to go to perth frocktails this year, but ive just worked another 13hr workday and new it, and my adhd brain, would be the death of me. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you x
@@amiehamilton1840 it's honestly such a wonderful night and there is no need to overthink it the way I do, some people are bag makers and bring a bag with their ready made clothes, most people wear something they have already made from that year that they want to give a special night out. Though a 13 hour day sounds sooo intense, I can understand staying home instead after that!
Hi from Finland ❤
Mighty Magpies, definitely a winner! And so Melbourne
@@beccssmith6285 my dad said the same thing 🤣
A yard is less than a metre right? I’m confused by that one. It turned out great!
@@whatnow8362 it is! It's like 10cm shorter, so the band was too small
I am exhausted thinking how exhausted you must have felt, but proud at the same time of finishing the project on time; reminds me of uni😂. Well done! But also, compromises we have to make when we meet road blocks, sometimes, improve or refine the concept. Impressed with your final result, it turned out lovely. We often are our own worst critic.
@@rebeccaw9656 omg it was very uni vibes, last minute assignment all nighter! I think you're right, I'm definitely hardest on myself. Thanks so much for watching ❤️❤️❤️
Ohhh I remember seeing you! You looked great! I hope I can go next year again and really go all out, I was in the middle of moving house so had to wear what I’d already made lol

@@joannescantlebury744 thank you so much! ♥️♥️♥️
As a Dad this has helped me immensely so thank you. Can I please have the details about the homemade de tangler ? Cheers.
@@Riffo444 there is a video but it's essentially water with a few pumps of conditioner added and a couple of drops of lavender oil, then shake it up. You need to replace the mix every few days so it doesn't go gross. I'm so glad you got something out of the video to help you ❤️
I'm so happy I found your channel - I found your dark academia video through pinterest and when you mentioned the issues with inclusivity in certain styles, I fell in love! Thank you for the content you bring into the world.
Awe thank you so much! I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos and finding value in them ❤️❤️❤️
Fun fact, America was going to be metric but British pirates attacked the ship that was carrying the kilogram weight from France that was going to be used by Thomas Jefferson to convince the government that metric was best. The pirates sold the weight and it eventually did end up in America and is at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
That is so interesting!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
I stumbled upon your channel and loved this dress . I feel your pain re not enough fabric, I live in country s.a and spotlight is in the next town.😅 😅 I will binge on you past videos ❤

@@WithLoveKristina awe thank you! I'm actually a big fan of your channel! ♥️♥️♥️
I found you because I'm a Rachel fan as well, I think you're fun! Though I live in Canada now, I remember Mum telling me about Christmas Day on the beach and Dad swimming and surfing on Bondi Beach😊
That is so cool, did you move from Australia? Canada looks bloody stunning, would love to visit some time!
Subscribing! Haven’t even finished yet but i can tell you’re the exact creator vibe I enjoy 😂 Cute video! :)
@@lauracgc awe thanks so much! 💓
Spotlight online are usually pretty good. It's no guarantee but as long as you can find your fabric (search is sometimes terrible - searching for Nightmare before Christmas fabric is one) they will tell which store has some left. Ive been redirected to a couple no where as far as Bayswater. By the way your dress looks great. You did well, you made it work.
@@beccssmith6285 it wasn't on the website but that is an excellent tip. It was incredibly unlikely that I would come across it again but it has happened before for me in the past so I took the gamble. I'm glad the dress worked out in the end though, thanks for watching ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Amy. Very helpful.
I'm so glad it was helpful! 😊

YAY! I thought it was very on brand for RM
It's the latest recycling of the prairie look and back to the land movement that we had in the 1970s.
@@littleblackcar it definitely is, goes all the way back to Marie Antoinette's chemise a la Reine while pretending to be a peasant, probably even earlier but that's the earliest example off the top of my head
Thanks for an excellent list of suggestions for me to make… I am currently attempting to make some cottage core items for my own wardrobe so this video was perfectly timed!
@@amyrobertson6075 that's awesome!
Your analysis of Australian Halloween is spot on. I always felt as an Aussie that celebrating or acknowledging Halloween feels kinda like celebrating someone elses birthday while never getting ones own. Seasonaly speking, it doesn't make sense for us to celebrate a pagan holiday marking the end of an october harvest. Paganally (wut?) speaking, it makes the most sense to celebrate at a time and in a fashion that honours the unique habitat and seasonal forces of each global pagan colony. Australians might celebrate Haloween on April 30, decorate with bansia wreaths and of course get hammered.
Thats so true! (all I can imagine is Jimmy Rees in costume shouting "beers beers beers" haha) If you ever see any of the first nations seasonal calendars, those are incredible! they make so much more sense than the 4 seasons we imported from Europe!
@amyofmelbourne I'll definitely check them out, I'll be needing a new calendar soon, so that's a perfect idea. Makes sense considering our position on the Earth and thus under the stars. Makes me wonder if our horoscopes are wrong too. Common Australian L if so, hahahaha.
I was just thinking that I need to correct my reliance on Etsy since they accidentally suspended my account for a couple weeks (fixed now). That and the drop in overall quality of sellers, lack of support to legitimate small businesses and the rise of AI rubbish… 🫠 thank you for making these videos ❤
loved this, found lots of patterns i liked and will definitely get yours!!

@@mariannepastuch9197 oh!!! Thank you!
You are a godsend! I swear I had scoured everywhere looking for more patterns and kept coming up against stupid AI ones or patterns that aren't actually plus size. You're amazing!! ❤🎉
@@haleyhoudini thanks so much! I'm so glad my video was useful for you!
I love all these recommendations. I am predominantly a knitter and very new to sewing and I find it really hard to find patterns as I am so used to searching on ravelry. Wish there was a sewing equivalent, but your videos are really helpful to find different pattern companies outside of the ones you can find at Spotlight.

awe thank you, thats so sweet!
Rachel is one of my favorites! Your dress turned out super cute 🦇💕
Thanks so much! I love her style!
Michael is a true sweetheart for going and filming this. It’s wonderful that he knows and understands your needs and things that are important to you! Felting using a needle like those kits is fun but a word of advice, don’t have anything that might distract you going on in the background like kids, pets, television ect. The second I would lookup I would stab myself with the barbed needles every time! It is a fun hobby that you can do some really cool creatures with. Wet felting is totally different and I will be trying that in about 5-6 months as it’s getting very cold here and could snow at anytime. I want to do it outside because I will make a big mess lol! I saw a class for making a fantastic witch like hat that is wet felted that I want to do. I subscribed and I can’t wait to see what you make with what he got you!
@@shellyboggs9093 omg it is definitely a craft that requires FULL concentration! Wet felting looks incredible, but a wet felted witches hat sounds absolutely enchanting! What an amazing idea! I would LOVE to see that!
