I enjoyed that. You had a good pace up when you were going down hill on the way home. One tip that I'd give you is that when you're sailing a dinghy through a number of big boats on moorings, be sure to say things like "That must be costing them a fortune, to keep there", and "That one needs a lot of work", and "It doesn't look like he get's out on her, much", and "It must be a right mongrel having to row the tender out all that way to go for a sail". I don't know why, but it just enhances the small boat experience so much.

@@WoodyOTW I'm just envious. I live 75 miles from the closest navigable water, in Australia. Grew up on both dinghies and big boats and miss it sorely.

100% right. Me and my one crew has a fantastic day sailing in Baltimore harbour, Ireland in my dinghy. At 7.00 pm tied to a .visitor mooring we bummed a lift ashore from an obliging couple in the rib tender of a 60ft champagne palace moored next to us. Two salt stained sea dogs shared a small space with two immaculately dressed denizens of high society for couple of minutes. What was their fun that day, I often wondered afterwards?

Having just got a wayfarer, I long to get on waters like this, especially in lincs....there are none. Is this trip only possible when the tide is in? how do you plan for launching and reaching the slipways etc?

Love watching this video. But going to stick my neck out and say your mast is not tight enough? When you are travelling out to sea, the mast can be seen rocking back and forth, you can also hear it. You need more tension in the Jib Halyard.?

I'm glad you guys seem to had a great time! Sailing is fun and I did it solo with a catamaran once off the northwest coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. Usually, the seas are much calmer compared to the eastern coast, which is the Atlantic ocean. I felt pretty accomplished when I did it. I was impressed by the speed of that safety boat. I'll watch your channel again.

Wonderful Royal Burnham Yacht Club, when i was a child my fathers boat sheered a skin fitting, in those days we only had hand bilge pumps. My father radio'd for help soon a launch came out from there pulling up along side my father wanted a tow to beach the boat, the guy in the launch agreed. The next thing he asked if my father was a member of the Royal Burnham, so my father said no he wasnt, the guy then apologized saying he couldnt help us as we were not members then left. My father soon managed to get a bung through the hole stemming the leak to almost nothing. The engine had been immersed in sea water so we limped back under sail to our mooring at North Fambridge. I find the crouch nice but not at weekends, the huge amount of day sailing makes it not inviting for cruisers

@@WoodyOTW yes that was, i was only approx 6 may be 7, i remember the guy in the launch , mind you in some ways nothing has ever changed, there are few that will ever go to the aid of another contrary to Maritime Law that allows them on the water in the first place. Royal Burnham Yacht Club or what ever it is called should never have been allowed to exist thereafter

Thank you for taking us with you across tge Thames estuary. I'm originally from Rainham (Medway) so the trip across the estuary was, for me, reminiscent of my sails from Otterham Quay to the Stoke area. No welcome for us on the Isle of Grain as it's just a large container port, but great sailing all the same. Cheers.
