    I feel your pain. My son put a lift pump on the fuel line so no priming issues. He is a diesel man and said they all use lift pumps in the trucks so why not the tractor? He also discovered that the engine in the t4.75 is the same exact engine as the t4.95. He got a tuner box that goes inline on the fuel harness and now we have 20 more HP and it is noticeable. Pulling the discbine up hill does not require I downshift now.

    Have one. So does my son, and brother. Started building them i think in '45. When my dad started selling them in 1976, almost 80% of the first year models were still going. P.S. your fuel filter will flow better, if flipped around. But id use a new one, to keep the junk out of the carb.

    I had a small Generac that had voltage regulator problems and it turned out to be that the connections on the regulator board had corroded somewhat. After cleaning up the connector contacts and putting it back together the generator put out proper voltage.

    I purchased another shop vac because it costs too much money for a replacement motor. I’ll bring the motor to work tomorrow and test it out. If I can’t repair the motor I’m going to make a rolling planter vase out of the vacuum

    yeah buddy, mowing with those old yazoo's is like riding tilt a whirl at the fair. lots of fun. great mowers

  • @dkeith45
    @dkeith45 3 місяці тому

    Yep, great machine. I have a YR48 with a 16hp single cylinder cast iron B&S. Some FYI for those new to these mowers, you can get AG tires for them if your lawn tires spin too much. Check the trans oil by loosening the bolt on top of the tranny and removing the large flat steel circle cover and the large rubber washer then look inside it. If the oil is not clear, (first time I checked mine it looked like chocolate milk) there is a 3/8" square pipe thread plug directly under the trans to drain the oil. Refill it with 30wt motor oil, though some of the newer Yazoo's take 40wt, fill it so the gears at the top are halfway in the oil. Mine takes nearly 5 qts. Mine had terrible traction and couldn't climb anything till I changed the tranny oil, now it's fine. Get used to using the brake a LOT. But be careful not to stomp on it. Use it gently but use it. You'll need to use it to keep from running into things because the steering is a little tricky and its forward and backward motions can be a bit too fast at times.

    I like the sifter idea, but could you scale it up to the large mortar tray? What size hardware cloth do you use? Is there any maintenance that needs to be done for the offset wheels or bottom? How long do you expect it to last? Thank you so much for the video, and sharing your knowledge and experience.

    • @therandomfarmer4231
      @therandomfarmer4231 3 місяці тому

      I used to build the large mortar tray version but it was too expensive to ship due to size. As long as you use hardwood for the rollers(which I do), it's like a wood bearing and will last years. The cloth typically comes in large rolls so it's expensive to first purchase. Some places will cut to length though.

    Hopefully you'll see this. Have you replaced your crankcase breather filter? Apparently it's pretty important but for the life of my I have no idea where it is or how hard it is to replace.

    • @therandomfarmer4231
      @therandomfarmer4231 3 місяці тому

      I haven't replaced it yet. I only have about 1100 hrs on it at this point. To be honest it's a pretty darn good tractor so far. Plenty of power. I dont think I'd worry about my crankcase breather for awhile yet. Alot of em you can just clean when needed but I'm not sure on this one. Thanks for bringing it up though!

      @therandomfarmer4231 - The other winter I had oil leakage from my dip stick/fill cap. Overpressure from something getting plugged up with ice, possibly the crank case filter though that should be way too hot to form ice. I have the crankcase filter in hand but can't find detailed instructions of how it needs to be installed or where the filter is even located. Thanks for the video btw. I did my first oil change on my 2014 T4.75 and a few of you UA-cam guys with T4 series really made the jobs go so much smoother than they would have! Keep up the good work!

    Cool machine! I love those Wisconsins. Someone must have converted it from magneto ignition to battery ignition. Can't quite see how they did it but somehow they ran the high tension wire into the mag and used it as a distributor.

      In the grand scheme of it all, this is really a minor thing. Especially with its really long oil change interval. It's only got about 1100 hours on it but it's been a solid tractor. Has been my main workhorse the last couple years. From the new deeres I've seen, you deere guys are dealing with the same stuff. The old iron that's in good shape is harder to find. That's for sure.
