Ozyjazzias
Приєднався 27 жов 2013
If I like a tune, want to let people hear it, but can't find it already on UA-cam, I'll upload it here, share it, and hope that no one gets mad at me.
Max Johnson, Les Vagues w/ Kirk Knuffke from Something Familiar (2015)
A beautiful track from Max Johnson's 2015 album Something Familiar, featuring the wonderful trumpet of Kirk Knuffke.
"'Les Vague'-with its mournful brass opening complimented by Johnson's bowed bass-is a beautifully melodic oasis in the midst of all the free improvisation of Something Familiar." Karl Ackermann, Allaboutjazz.com
Check out my quite poorly maintained vanity website at www.ozyjazzias.com, where I post random tunes that I like. I try to give some attention to music that no one else had the thought to post on UA-cam.

Sublime 🔥🚒❤️🥂💯
Being a jazz and specially free jazz listener for more than 40 years , this is one of my all time favorites . Bought the LP for $1.99 in a used record store I still have this gem with me.
I agree a 100%! From "a Jem from Bulgaria.

Yeah umm I also found this as a vinyl in my cellar, pretty good tho.
Really great version of Jan Hammer's tune. Eddie Gomez really rocks that bass and I've never heard Elliot Zigmund get so funky. Check out the original, also with Eddie Gomez, on flutist Jeremy Steig's 1971 album "Energy" (also reissued as part of the 1972 double album "Fusion").
Благодарю за радость слушать роскошное исполнение
Escuchar al trio de Jacques Lussier es como estar en el paraiso para luego regresar al material mundo.Gracias Jacques y compañia.😀
מענג מעניין מלודי. פרפקטו ☯️👍

A beautiful performance ...by Workman....
The track listed as "alternate take" is the best take, and the take that was on the LP. It´12.59 long. Bad choice by someone to switch that around on the CD.
sublime music

1955 kids... timeless talent and an incredible virtuoso playing of the glorious instrument: the human voice.
I add that the complete album is as worthwhile listening to as this track! Recorded and produced relatively rough & ready, mostly live in studio (with an overdub for the solo/theme or melody). You can hear Japanese sound engineers talking softly in the background during a quiet passage, for example. It is a fine example of creative elaboration and skillfull improvisation, where the love for music and the fun making it is exposed clearly. The sound quality of the record is still very acceptable and above average. I picked up my copy on CD in the late nineties, second hand, for a scratch, having never heard before of this great, fine player. This should be in every bassplayers' collection, for enjoyment and inspiration.
Uno de los mejores álbumes de Sarah que e escuchado. Maravilloso!!!!
I agree on the Strata-East material. I have tried finding everything that's been released on CD in the U.S., but it's really hard to pull the trigger on other releases, e.g. Japanese reissues. I wish that the copyright holder would release the material on a website like Bandcamp and let people buy and download lossless audio files for a reasonable price.
I was a regular at slugs too and I was down the week they recorded this music. For what its worth, Music Inc. and msrs. Tolliver and Cowell were one of the premier and under the radar groups of the era - probably because they didn't record on blue note or impulse but instead on one of the pioneering attempts at an artist owned label Strata-East - it's a tremendous catalogue and a great body of work not only by Music Inc but by many other great artists. This is historically significant music in more ways than one that should be celebrated and remembered
