I add that the complete album is as worthwhile listening to as this track! Recorded and produced relatively rough & ready, mostly live in studio (with an overdub for the solo/theme or melody). You can hear Japanese sound engineers talking softly in the background during a quiet passage, for example. It is a fine example of creative elaboration and skillfull improvisation, where the love for music and the fun making it is exposed clearly. The sound quality of the record is still very acceptable and above average. I picked up my copy on CD in the late nineties, second hand, for a scratch, having never heard before of this great, fine player. This should be in every bassplayers' collection, for enjoyment and inspiration.
Really great version of Jan Hammer's tune. Eddie Gomez really rocks that bass and I've never heard Elliot Zigmund get so funky. Check out the original, also with Eddie Gomez, on flutist Jeremy Steig's 1971 album "Energy" (also reissued as part of the 1972 double album "Fusion").
sick bass playing , i also love the groovy drums , what a gem
