Welcome to my channel, I produce railroad related content primarily focusing on Maine railroads and other New England lines, but on occasion I do upload videos covering railroads outside of New England and the US. The majority of my new videos are filmed with a Canon VIXIA HF G50 and are 4K 30 FPS, while my older videos between 2016 and 2020 are shot in 1080P 60FPS from a Canon VIXIA HF R800. My original videos were shot with one of two Canon powershot cameras which have since been retired (These cameras only shot in 480P).

[4K] Chasing The CPKC Holiday Train Across Maine (11/22-23/2024
The week of 11/22/2024, CPKC would send its Holiday Train over NBM Railways to New Brunswick for the first time ever. Joining in the fun, NBM Railways decorated SD70M-2 6416 with lights and decorations, to lead the train. After a show in Saint John on the 21st the train headed back to Maine, pulled by SD70M-2 6410, which was also decorated to McAdam where the train was turned.
While my original plan was to chase from Saint John, I got a heads up the train had departed earlier than originally expected to accommodate an additional show which was added at McAdam.
I ended up picking them up at Lambert Lake on EMR and chasing from there to Brownville Jct. I would also chase to Jackman on CPKC and got a shot at Holeb the next morning.
Anyway I hope you enjoy and have a Merry Christmas!

On 12/11/2023 A friend and I made a trip to the Gaspe Railway to chase Train 565 from New Richmond to Matapedia, Quebec. With news that SFG was getting a batch of GP38-3's in the near future I wanted to capture the railroad's RS18u fleet, since at the time it was rumored the GP38's would be replacing them. As of posting 4 GP38-3's have arrived and the 6 RS18u's have been placed in storage for t...

[4K] Coal Trains On Cape Breton Island! (7/8/2024)

For a few days in July, I visited Nova Scotia with the primary target being the Sydney Coal Railway. This railroad is all that remains of the DEVCO Railway and its predecessor the Sydney & Louisburg. Following G&W's discontinuance of service on the Sydney Subdivision, this operation became completely land locked. The railroad is owned by Nova Scotia Power and operated by Savage Railway Services...

On 10/3/2020 I set out after MNR Train 910-3 (Oakfield-Brownville Jct). At the time 910 reported around 0100 and departed Oakfield before sunrise. However on this day operations were messed up with Train 503-3 (Squapan-Oakfield turn) arriving late and the departure being delayed due to air issues with a number of DODX flatcars. Переглядів 53111 місяців тому
On 2/4/2022 I went out after Pan Am Railways train NMWA-04 which had a increasingly rare Guilford geep leading. The chase was interesting, since over a foot of wet snow fell over the previous 24 hours, which made some interesting shots with the train busting through the snowbanks. NMWA-04 would end up trying down at Bellsqueeze Road in Benton. The past few snow storms have caused many delays, a...

On 10/22/2023 I set out for Holeb in hopes of shooting CPKC Train 120-22 at a remote location with what was left of the fall foliage. However the road leading to the site was less than ideal and I wouldn't arrive until the train was in Jackman. Thanks to the usual delays with Customs, I was able to beat the train to Long Pond and chase east to Little Greenwood Pond. Be sure to like and follow u...

Excellent video! Thanks for sharing.
great catches and video of this holiday train
Do you happen to have any knowledge of the old onawa road ?
I saw 3 of the cars going through Masardis on the night of the 14th. I guessed they maybe were going to Oakfield. 😊
merry christmas and happy holidays
Excellent video. Do 909 and 907 adhere to a schedule of sorts?
As writing only 909 does. Since I shot this video they reworked 909 from the Brownville jct to Oakfield road job to the Mattawamkeag to Brownville jct turn which services the csx interchange. They also occasionally run to Bancroft depending on where trains 120/121 drop cars. 907 and 908 run only as extras currently. Since CP dropped the ball with the container contract in 2023, they have only used them as needed. There is supposed to be another major contract coming in the spring, but cpkc has failed to fix the issues which have sunk the previous ones so it probably won’t last. As for 909 they are on at 0700 or 0900 either at Brownville jct or Mattawamkeag depending on what there is for work. If the power is at keag, they will report there. Pretty much all trains on NBSR,MNR, and EMR report at 7, 9, noon, 2, or 5 pm.
That’s awesome info thank you. Does the 901 run as a BVJ - Oakfield turn, and 910 BVJ - Millinocket turn?
@@floridarailfanMNR 901 acts as a Oakfield-Millinocket turn, which that might have changed. They were redoing rail from Oakfield to Squapan over the summer to get speeds up, so one crew could do a Squapan to Millinocket turn instead of a two sided road job. Normally they run Monday-Friday, sometimes Sunday depending on if the MNR power is being serviced at Millinocket. 910 is more sporadic and they run as a bvj to Millinocket turn. They were 6 days a week, but with MNR so short on power they pretty much just run whenever MNR can bring cars down. Typically they meet 901 right at Millinocket and swap trains.
Awesome, thank you again. I appreciate the help, looking forward to visiting!
You were up bright and early for this one!
I love it! I really miss my time there
awesome video of this holiday train as well as a freight
Tu habites à sept îles
Nothing worse than the frustratingly annoying clicks of a camera taking endless and useless pictures
Womp womp, can’t say that I really care.
Great video but great to see MLW units.
For those wondering the audio is screwed up due to the rain cover on my camera. The horn was reverberating off of it causing it to be distorted.
Perfect weather.

Cool video, well done!
Im just glad to see a big G still floating around
Great work and coverage
Thanks my friend for that excellent document of rarely seen railroad. When i read your story, i feel sick for you. What an endless drive, rain non stop all day, damp, muggy, no colors, everything is grey and awful temperature going back home. You dederve a medal for that expedition !! I was to suggest Sartigan for those 2 former Ottawa Central if i´m not wrong. But you already mentionned it. They seem 251 in their blood. Thanks for your share and stay well😊😊😊
what a beautiful video... thanks for standing in the rain catching those MLWs and thanks for sharing
as much as I love my alcos and their sister engines let face it, its 2025 shortly and those babys are wearing out pr worn out now, good video
Thanks for watching! We will see how long they last after traffic picks up this summer. I am guessing more Gp38-3's will be coming in the not too distant future. At least the Sartigan over by Quebec City has been building their MLW fleet. They have a RS18u, RS23, 4 M420W's (2 are parts units), and now a M636 with the intent to buy more MLW/Alco's in the future.
@@Maine_Railfan great video again and thanks 4 the reply
These were some great shots. The raven on the front of the engine when loading the coal was great timing. "I'm just gonna chill here for a couple minutes."
Thanks for watching! And yes, I am glad I caught that on video. I am pretty sure the crew was feeding it crackers before I started recording.
Nice catches shame that these are in storage now
Thanks for watching! And yes it is.
Nice catches

Cool video and enjoyed watching. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend. Steve
Thanks for watching!
@@Maine_Railfan you are welcome!
Is that a moose on the horn?
It sure sounds like it could be! Thats actually a very rare A-200 train horn.
We had a flame thrower to melt the snow on the switches in the Lawrence MA yard ….that thing was awesome they replaced it with a jet powered machine to blow the snow off instead….
CSX has a few "Air Force 1" trucks which do something similar. CP has some similar attachments for a Pettibone and a highrail excavator as well.
Did you take enough photos?
With plow trains? Never!
I love those green locomotives and the snow video of the train and the view! Like 👍 I also record videos of trains but in Ohio. 👍
Thanks for watching!
Nice scenery! Good views of Locomotives & trains. Wow very long trains in east. Didn't know very long trains operated in east. Thanks for capturing and sharing video. 🎉
Thanks for watching! And these are about the longest and heaviest trains you will see on the eastern half of North America.
I guess they are heavier (loaded) going downhill to the river estuary.
Lucas posts a video AND there is footage of Hardy Pond in it! Nice.
Miracles do exist sometimes.
Looks like the Illinois Terminal at a quick glance.
Thanks for watching! And yes it does, as did the original variation of the scheme that was used on the standard cab EMD's.
Great catches awesome chase and nice video
Thanks for watching!
Hey your in my territory, glad to see i'm not the only one filimg these! Also Lingan is pronuonced Lin-gan and Louisbourg is pronounced Louis-burg great video
I also caught this train later that day at 1:15 pm loaded
I intend on coming back at some point, and thanks for the corrections. My pronunciations are pretty rancid.
@ it’s ok people come from all over the world to Cape Breton your probably not the first to butcher some of the pronunciations
As a dedicated railfan in Cape Breton, I’ve always been fascinated by the region’s scenic train routes. One of the most exciting sights is the regular train that rolls through, hauling cars and freight, painting a picture of the island’s industrial heart. But what’s equally interesting is the train that follows shortly after-just hours or sometimes even minutes later. Unlike the first, this one doesn’t carry cars but instead is used for passenger service or maintenance, its quieter passage a reminder of the dual nature of rail travel on this beautiful island. It’s a small but intriguing rhythm in the daily life of Cape Breton’s railway landscape. I also usually railfan in NW
NBSR units 2317,2318,2319 came from the SCR. Nice video!
Thanks for watching! And yes they did, thats how I found out about the modern day operations there.
Awesome production and narration, I like that! (Dave).
Thanks for watching!
@Maine_Railfan you're welcome
Another railroad I didn’t know existed… adding this to my next eastern trip itinerary!
Just to let you know it's about an hour and a half from Port Hawksbury which has the nearest operating railroad from the SCR
Its a very interesting operation with an extensive history.
I should be going here very soon
Nice
@ I went in July it was pretty good
new horn? nice. where was this? caught 307 in october and it had a very odd horn
yes the previous one was stolen.
A railroad named after a airline cool
Technically, the owner of the railroad bought the name to Pan Am when the airline went bankrupt. He tried running a regional service under the Pan Am Clipper name, but it was short lived primarily due to lower ridership and an oversaturated market.
Love trains!😊
Thanks for watching!
Ig they moved the headlight to the nose
Yes, they did that to improve visibility for the crews.
