Welcome to my channel, I produce railroad related content primarily focusing on Maine railroads and other New England lines, but on occasion I do upload videos covering railroads outside of New England and the US. The majority of my new videos are filmed with a Canon VIXIA HF G50 and are 4K 30 FPS, while my older videos between 2016 and 2020 are shot in 1080P 60FPS from a Canon VIXIA HF R800. My original videos were shot with one of two Canon powershot cameras which have since been retired (These cameras only shot in 480P).

[4K] Heavy Iron Ore Trains On The Quebec North Shore & Labrador and Cartier Railway (9/21-23/2024)
From 9/21/2024 to 9/23/2024 I took a trip to the north shore region of Quebec and shot a number of railroads up there, including spending a day on the Quebec North Shore and Labrador and two afternoons on the Cartier Railway.
After this trip, I am definitely looking forward to going back to this area!

[4K] Coal Trains On Cape Breton Island! (7/8/2024)
Переглядів 196Місяць тому
For a few days in July, I visited Nova Scotia with the primary target being the Sydney Coal Railway. This railroad is all that remains of the DEVCO Railway and its predecessor the Sydney & Louisburg. Following G&W's discontinuance of service on the Sydney Subdivision, this operation became completely land locked. The railroad is owned by Nova Scotia Power and operated by Savage Railway Services...

[4K] Chasing A Chip Train During Peak Foliage (10/3/2020
Переглядів 3589 місяців тому
On 10/3/2020 I set out after MNR Train 910-3 (Oakfield-Brownville Jct). At the time 910 reported around 0100 and departed Oakfield before sunrise. However on this day operations were messed up with Train 503-3 (Squapan-Oakfield turn) arriving late and the departure being delayed due to air issues with a number of DODX flatcars. As a result the normal 910 crew was used for other jobs, while a wo...
[4K] Guilford GP40 Battles Blizzard On Pan Am Railways NMWA! (2/4/2022)
Переглядів 3519 місяців тому
On 2/4/2022 I went out after Pan Am Railways train NMWA-04 which had a increasingly rare Guilford geep leading. The chase was interesting, since over a foot of wet snow fell over the previous 24 hours, which made some interesting shots with the train busting through the snowbanks. NMWA-04 would end up trying down at Bellsqueeze Road in Benton. The past few snow storms have caused many delays, a...
[4K] Chasing CPKC Train 120-22 (10/22/2023)
Переглядів 2309 місяців тому
On 10/22/2023 I set out for Holeb in hopes of shooting CPKC Train 120-22 at a remote location with what was left of the fall foliage. However the road leading to the site was less than ideal and I wouldn't arrive until the train was in Jackman. Thanks to the usual delays with Customs, I was able to beat the train to Long Pond and chase east to Little Greenwood Pond. Be sure to like and follow u...

On 10/19/2023 I happened to catch a late NMWA as they waited to depart Northern Maine Junction. In the mix was a CSX SD40-3 fresh out of Waterville after a recent block swap. Also in the train was a cut of MEC 1200 series tie chip cars, which have been sitting at Northern Maine Jct since the CSX takeover. The chipped railroad ties used to go from Permatreat in Mattawamkeag to the Nine Dragons P...

The last run had been delayed for weeks, while the Rockland crew was used to fill the massive crew shortage on the main CP network in Brownville Jct and Northern Maine Junction. I love those green locomotives and the snow video of the train and the view! Like 👍 I also record videos of trains but in Ohio. 👍
Nice scenery! Good views of Locomotives & trains. Wow very long trains in east. Didn't know very long trains operated in east. Thanks for capturing and sharing video. 🎉
Thanks for watching! And these are about the longest and heaviest trains you will see on the eastern half of North America.
Lucas posts a video AND there is footage of Hardy Pond in it! Nice.
Miracles do exist sometimes.
Looks like the Illinois Terminal at a quick glance.
Thanks for watching! And yes it does, as did the original variation of the scheme that was used on the standard cab EMD's.
Great catches awesome chase and nice video
Thanks for watching!
Hey your in my territory, glad to see i'm not the only one filimg these! Also Lingan is pronuonced Lin-gan and Louisbourg is pronounced Louis-burg great video
I also caught this train later that day at 1:15 pm loaded
NBSR units 2317,2318,2319 came from the SCR. Nice video!
Thanks for watching! And yes they did, thats how I found out about the modern day operations there.
Awesome production and narration, I like that! (Dave).
Thanks for watching!
@Maine_Railfan you're welcome
Another railroad I didn’t know existed… adding this to my next eastern trip itinerary!
Just to let you know it's about an hour and a half from Port Hawksbury which has the nearest operating railroad from the SCR
Its a very interesting operation with an extensive history.
I should be going here very soon
new horn? nice. where was this? caught 307 in october and it had a very odd horn
yes the previous one was stolen.
A railroad named after a airline cool
Technically, the owner of the railroad bought the name to Pan Am when the airline went bankrupt. He tried running a regional service under the Pan Am Clipper name, but it was short lived primarily due to lower ridership and an oversaturated market.
Love trains!😊
Thanks for watching!
Ig they moved the headlight to the nose
Yes, they did that to improve visibility for the crews.
Awesome vid, Thank you to all who fought and served
Awesome catch
Thank you very much!
@@Maine_Railfan You too bud
Suprised those old CP 40-2s are still thriving!
While not too many are left, there are still a few in mow service.
Awesome, You rarely see BNSF power up in New England
No doubt.
Awesome vid
Thanks!
@@Maine_Railfan You too bud
2047 was the engine in the 1999 movie ''Final Run''
It was in several other movies/tv shows as well. One of the CFS parts units also had a few on screen appearances as well.
@@Maine_Railfan which were?
Want to tell you my Uncle remembers seeing steam on the LIRR back in c 1954-1955, That railroad used power from the Pennsylvania Railroad and freight duties were pulled by H10 Consolidations and there is one survivor at the Railroad Museum Of PA near the Strausburg railroad
Nice! I am looking forward to the day when the 470 returns to service.
@Maine_Railfan Same, I'm glad we're having another steam locomotive back in service again especially in New England one of the most beautiful places, I think another locomotive that should come up there is New York Central Mohawk 3001 as it ran on the Boston & Albany sub now CSX
I saw 6247, I believe the number was. Once you see it, leading or trailing, mind tagging me in a post?
An Irving unit? That was like 6407 or 6417.
@@Maine_Railfan that was my mistake lol, it was 6417
Wow, that is some fantastic ancient equipment.
Pan Am had the last active wreck train in North America, this was probably the last time it was used before the CSX takeover. The cranes on this train were built before the diesel era and were still being used two years ago.
@@Maine_Railfan unfortunately time just keeps moving forward eventually the past just can’t keep up anymore. It’s bizarre to me that we now live at a time where we are seeing Dash 9’s aging to the point that they are starting to enter short line service
Hwy 185 from QC into NB beside old hwy near IRVING TRUCK STOP there is a abandoned road bed. What railway was it ?
Sorry for replying so late, it took me a while to research. But that used to run from Edmunston, NB to Riviere du Loup. It was originally built as the Temiscouata Railway in 1889 and it was bought by CN in 1949. Between 1984 and 1989 most of the subdivision was abandoned. Although a short segment in Riviere du Loup is used as an industrial spur and a short segment in Edmunston is used to switch the paper mill there. Here is some more info on it: www.trainweb.org/oldtimetrains/TMCR/history.htm
@@Maine_Railfan thank you I run through there a lot with my own semi truck period And I often wondered
Nice catches
Thanks for watching!
This railway will soon be getting an ex MINN.COMMERCIAL,ex CP RAIL M636. Has a rare Caterpillar engine.
It just arrived, I got to see it last week.
The only NBSR Train I caught had 6315 leading, Nice Chase!
6315 and 6340 were my personal favorites. Thanks for watching!
When will the welded rail be laid on this section? Aren't they working north from Portland with CWR laid out?
No idea, I don't expect it to happen anytime soon. And yes, they are doing some down in Lewiston to get rid of a few 10 MPH spots.
Just up the road from Readfield and Winthrop. Have you seen all the new CWR that has been set out for replacing the old 1952 rail? Must be a spring 2024 project.
Yes I have, I imagine it will be a project throughout the summer.
Spellbinding video!!!
Thank you!
Great catches and awesome video
Thanks for watching!
Nice! Just like I was standing there. Good videography!
Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for future videos!
Great catches awesome chase and nice video

Nice
Thanks!
Great vid
Thanks!
Wonderful scenic views of the Great Wilds of Maine!!! Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful sights! looks like Peak Foliage for that area!!!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Thanks for leaving the info boards up long enough to read them!
Thanks for watching! I have played around with the times on them and I think I have finally settled for the right timeframe. I am hoping to switch to a different format with them in the future, which can be overlayed with the footage, and the text boxes will be able to contain the railroads logo.
Nice work! I subscribed, looking forward to future videos.
I appreciate it! I have a backlog going back to 2014, so I have plenty of content for the future. I am hoping to build up enough pre-edited videos that I can eventually upload a video every day.
Ah yes when we still got real snow. Very nice.
And back then we complained about how wimpy the winters were... Its been five years since I have seen a plow extra...
Excellent views! Terrific nighttime views, you can actually see the Train!!! Seems funny not to see the Snowmobiles running along the sides of track in Pittsfield!
I appreciate it! I am working on improving my night videography. I found that using the manual focus on my camera helped a lot. I am looking at buying some Milwaukee portable work lights in the future as well. I found that broadcasting light with headlights onto a train results in less than stellar footage. However, if you had portable lights which can broadcast light down like a street lamp, it makes much better footage.
Great catches awesome chase and nice video
I appreciate it!
That was a really cool chase, beautiful scenery there too! (Dave).
Thanks for watching! The Moosehead has some of the best scenery in Maine!
Your welcome and it sure looks like it.@@Maine_Railfan
Is that new rail on the Hinkley branch?
No, most of the branch is still 100+ year old 85 LBS stick. Although from around I-95 to CPF-110 is 112 LBS rail. I can't remember if Pan Am/Guilford did that or if it was Maine Central. Regardless, if memory serves its relay from somewhere when 115LBS stick or CWR was installed. I believe the rail was upgraded due to locomotives eating the rail on the steep grade over the years.
@Maine_Railfan Nice, Where I'm from it's the same case because the Erie had their Northern Branch which ran from Bergen County to Upstate NY via Nyack and some parts of the line still have the original track
