One thing I always liked about NHL players is that I understand they have essentially been desensitized to violence and aggression even to an extent while still considered children. Heck even though I only played on a lower level growing up, even I am desensitized to violence and aggression in regular life now-I totally blame hockey. They also become desensitized to fear, all while working hard to develop, and even harder the more elite they become, and yet there is a character about them that is humble. And I’m not saying they don’t have demons, but your not going to see them take their shit out on regular innocent folks, they tend to be kind to regular folks, and they are not braggarts about the things they are capable of. They give credit to their teammates and everyone else before themselves. I’m not doubting there are exceptions to all this. But honestly, and especially in this current political climate, there is no better a role model for a Canadian kid than an NHL player. Indeed, they play far more of a role in making us all who we are and who we want to be than the simple exploits of their on ice performance would suggest. So thanks for that….that means you too Sean.

Guys that come out and don’t try to make plays or sweat. Play with some passion or don’t play at all.

Not that you even need street hockey in Toronto. There’s free outdoor rinks all over the place. Play winter on skates, summer on blades or shoes. Yet even still, what the living f*ck!!! Whether we need it or not is not the basis by which we need to judge this. This is f*ckin woke, and if there is one thing that need never rear its head within the haloed cultural institution of hockey in Canada, it is that. This! It’s on this we make a f*cking stand!

Fuck we played a lot on our dead end street but we also loved goong to school's with nicr parking lots . No one wants to playbonnbusy ass roads and shit lke most people find a pretty low traffic area so they can play without interruption

Hey Aves... Got to admit, I'm eating my words on Reaves! I hated him when he was pre-Leaf and playing like a goon. It seemed to me like he was talentless and just out to hurt players! I'm man enough to admit he's gained a fan! His hits are hard but clean, and not players taken off the ice on stretchers stupid! Instead of dumb penalties, he's making plays and actually scoring a few too! He has been sticking up for his teammates enough now that the intimidation factor obviously makes others think twice before taking dirty / cheap shots on a Leaf! Ok, I didn’t see this game, so I just looked up the size difference between Liljegren & Marchand; Liljegren is 6’1”, 190 lbs. & Marchand is 5’9”, 176 lbs … is there some reason why Liljegren couldn’t stick up for himself against a much smaller guy, & instead needed a throwback goon like Reeves to fight his battles for him?! I know you said Liljegren is 1 of the more important defensemen for the Leafs, but the same goes for Marchand as a forward for the Bruins … & did I mention that Marchand is 5’9”?! If Liljegren can’t muster the courage to throw down w a much smaller guy - like every other player has done when they had a problem w Marchand - I’d say he’s got much bigger concerns than Ryan Reeves can handle for him! Then again, this ridiculous pontification about needing protection from the smallest guy on the ice, is coming from the mouth of 1 of the biggest morons to ever make it to the NHL, & who’s playing days are best remembered for cheap shotting goalies, his off-season “modeling career” & the having the most disdained personality by every player league-wide.
