You know how when you listen to Jonathan's music, you want to feel close to him. Richmonds 2018 album, 'SA' has a very amazing, thought-provoking, lovely update of this song. Available on Bandcamp. Made me feel closer to him and his messages.
Hearing this song for the first time. What a gem to discover!
Also thought Antoine Doinel was so cute!
Gurantee Jim Carroll approved
Reminds me of Jim Carroll Band
1st New Wave song. "Not first punk song." (Which imo? Is even more impressive. They JUMPED a step, without help fr late70s punk explosion.)
Fart
Boo hoo😢
It's simplicity makes it what it is, a classic Boston/Rock song 🎵🎶
Roadrunner, roadrunner Going faster miles an hour Gonna drive past the Stop 'n' Shop With the radio on I'm in love with Massachusetts And the neon when it's cold outside And the highway when it's late at night Got the radio on I'm like the roadrunner Alright I'm in love with modern moonlight 128 when it's dark outside I'm in love with Massachusetts I'm in love with the radio on It helps me from being alone late at night It helps me from being lonely late at night I don't feel so bad now in the car Don't feel so alone, got the radio on Like the roadrunner That's right Said welcome to the spirit of 1956 Patient in the bushes next to '57 The highway is your girlfriend as you go by quick Suburban trees, suburban speed And it smells like heaven(thunder) And I say roadrunner once Roadrunner twice I'm in love with rock & roll and I'll be out all night Roadrunner That's right Well now Roadrunner, roadrunner Going faster miles an hour Gonna drive to the Stop 'n' Shop With the radio on at night And me in love with modern moonlight Me in love with modern rock & roll Modern girls and modern rock & roll Don't feel so alone, got the radio on Like the roadrunner O.K., now you sing Modern Lovers (Radio On!) I got the AM (Radio On!) Got the car, got the AM (Radio On!) Got the AM sound, got the (Radio On!) Got the rockin' modern neon sound (Radio On!) I got the car from Massachusetts, got the (Radio On!) I got the power of Massachusetts when it's late at night (Radio On!) I got the modern sounds of modern Massachusetts I've got the world, got the turnpike, got the I've got the, got the power of the AM Got the, late at night, (?), rock & roll late at night The factories and the auto signs got the power of modern sounds Alright Right, bye bye!
they don't make them like this anymore . That's why the 70's ruled
How fast is "Faster miles an hour"?
2:14 , Doors sonority , great song
Not like you
I was born a year before this song came out. I certainly heard it in my youth, but haven't heard it in a long while until very recently. It is amazing how wisdom and maturity allows you to fully appreciate songs that you didn't appreciate in your youth. It is great... it is like discovering awesome new music. I can't stop playing it. In particular, the drums during the second guitar solo are fantastic!
Mr. Javitz brought me here
I don’t feel so bad when I’m in my car and don’t feel so bad when I got the radio on ❤ 🚗
I heard this song back in 1979 working in a delicatessen in the Bronx New York I called up the old rock and roll New York radio station wplj months later to ask who sung the song I was told it was the Sex Pistols when I heard the sex pistol song it wasn't it then I stumbled across this song 43 years later on Spotify. I'm so happy that I did.I love this song.Even after 43 years not hearing it the juice was still like the first time hearing it .Awesome tune ...
I mean is this about domestic violence among lovers? Bc it sure sounds like that to me..
it took me 38 years to realize that this is not a Sex Pistols song
That out-of-tune chord at 2:28 always gives me goosebumps. Beautiful.
rythme décalé, voix parfaite, excellent
Hot summer nights….>
Why did this just come up again. Bought in the village after stopped touring?
How droll. I was commenting on a different singer and an English village. However after this one coming up I did wonder, why so adenoidal and then of 'vast conspiracy'?
Lol, I only ever knew of the Sex Pistols' version of this song before today.
OMG the Central Artery in downtown Boston!
Very well .
VI NA SÉRIE MARIANA HJ ❤❤❤😮😮😮 TOPPP
[Verse 1] Say a word, for Jimmy Brown, he ain't got nothing at all! Not the shirt, right, off his back, he ain't got nothing at all! And say a word, for Ginger Brown, walks with his head, down, to the ground. Took the shoes, right off his feet, and threw the poor boy, right out in the street. And this is what he said: [Chorus] "Oh, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) She ain't got nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!) Oh, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) She ain't got nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!)" [Verse 2] Say a word, for Polly May, she can't, tell the night, from the day. They threw her, out in the street, but just like a cat, she landed on her feet. And say a word, for Joanna Love, she ain't got nothing at all. With every day, she falls in love, and every night, she falls, and when she does, she says: [Chorus] "Oh, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) You know, she ain't got nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!) Woah-oh, sweet nothi-i-i-i-ing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) She ain't got nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!)" Oh, let me hear you! [Guitar Solo 1] [Verse 1] Oh, say a word, say a word, for Jimmy Brown,(Oh, sweet nothing!) he ain't got nothing at all, not a thing! (Ain't got nothing at all!) Not the shirt, shirt, on his back, (Oh, sweet nothing!) no, he ain't got nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!) And say a word, for Ginger, (Oh, sweet nothing!) he walks with his head, to the ground. (Ain't got nothing at all!) He took the shoes, took the shoes, from his feet, from his feet, (Oh, sweet nothing!) and threw the poor boy, out into the street. (Ain't got nothing at all!) And then he said: [Chorus] "Oh, sweet, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) She ain't got, she ain't got, she ain't got nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!) Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) She ain't got! (Ain't got nothing at all!) Sweet, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) Swe-e-e-e-et, sweet nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!) Sweet, sweet, nothing, got nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing!) Oh, sweet nothing! Oh-oh-oh, sweet nothing at all! (Ain't got nothing at all!)" Oh, let me hear you! [Guitar Solo 2/Bridge] [Bridge] (Oh, sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all! Oh, sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all! Oh,.sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all!) Oh, sweet nothing! (Oh, sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all! Oh, sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all! Oh, sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all! Oh, sweet nothing, ain't got nothing at all!) [Other] She ain't got nothing at all! She ain't got nothing at all! She ain't got nothing at all! She ain't got nothing at all! She ain't got nothing at all! Sweet nothing! She ain't got nothing at all! Sweet, sweet nothing! She ain't got nothing at all!

Traffic don't move like today!!
They remind me of the kinks a little bit
Ok now you say Modern Lovers, RADIO ON!!!
But I'm in love With this power That shows through In your eyes...
Sounds a lot like the Velvet Underground. White light white heat, and sister Ray come to mine
2:46 2:52 somebody sampled this somewhere. I can’t remember or find the damn song. Anybody know?
Have you seen hot summer nights

Very important in the history of Rock and Roll !
A fusion of iggy pop and talking heads.
You can really hear the Velvets influence on this song. Love it!
This was played at Bianca Jagger’s infamous birthday party at Studio 54 in 1977.
Definitely mid ‘70’s & superb - loved it then & for sure, love it now. Jane Russell, roadrunner twice
I'd love this song even if I hadn't cruised 128 in the mid-60s. Radio on!
ahead of its time
Sex pistols should be grateful .
My dad farted and this song came out of his butt.
It always amazes me watching this kinda thing...the chicks are so hot dancing with some goofus.....I guess thats why I ended up with the most beautiful chick for my wife..(She passed in 2001)... Your Goofus still loves You Baby Doll....💔
Is this version available on Apple music anywhere?
I don’t know how Jonathan did with women when he was young, but judging from this song, he was probably a natural.
Jonathon is on the Autism Spectrum, relationships are very difficult for him Im sure.
@ What is your source for that claim? Did Jonathan say it?
Jonathan Richman's love letter to Massachusetts.
The freedom of this song... When your young and running the roads you never wanted it to end...the sad part was you usually ended up where you started....
