Texas was not part of Mexico in 1845, it had been a separate republic since the 1830s after winning a war of independence, while many of the people who fought that war were Americans it had a much to do with the internal politics of Mexico as American colonial interests, more importantly those settlers were actively recruited to settle in Texas by Spain and then later Mexico after it gained its independence. The independence of Texas left unsettled the border between Texas and Mexico and that was the predicate for the eventual war, the USA had tried to resolve the border dispute with money but Mexico refused, ironically they wound up losing far more territory as a result of the war

There were no clear winners of this conflict. The Americans objective was to take over Canada and the loyalists held their ground, and would eventually form their own nation less than 50 years later. I guess the real winner was Canada 🇨🇦.

@sensoryoverload6809 - The US’s two MAIN goals when The US declared war on Britain were: * To end Britain’s BLOCKADE of The US’s East Coast. Britain didn’t want The US to trade with anyone except them. * To end Britain’s IMPRESSMENT of US sailors. Britain was kidnapping US sailors and forcing them to join the Royal Navy. ALL other issues were DISTRACTIONS. Thus, US victory. Canada didn’t form a government until >>>1867<<<

Aguinaldo was focused more on the loyalty of the people to him rather than working together with prominent figures such as gen. Luna and Andres bonifacio whom he ordered killed due to fears they will overthrow him

I'm glad the channel is talking about south african history, but as a south african the butchering of the name pronunciations is criminal also glossing over the native peoples experience being overlooked is also terrible

For the Tirad pass part you could've include the part where a Filipino native shows the way up the mountain where Gregorio del pilar's 60 men are holding their positions, even if it's kind of too detailed and not so simplified the Battle of Tirad pass' major details are kind of missing such as His men being on High ground and like I mentioned earlier The Native that showed the americans on how to flank Gregorio's men. For the Pronunciations it's bad but it's Okay it dosen't matter if you get the Pronunciation for Aguinaldo, Tirad pass etc etc. Overall it's a Fine video explaining the Philippine-American war, It's good if you want it for a short and very quick explaination, but if you do want to get into some details while having the style of Oversimplified you should do it maybe 10+ minutes. For starters I recommend Watching the Heneral Luna and Goyo; batang heneral film, Why for Starters? because the Heneral Luna film kind of messed up the timeline but I won't mention it all in this single Comment. I maybe be yapping too much but Atleast I get to say what I want to say.

The Boars almost fought a third one in.1993, but they surrendered, everything, lock, stock and barrel, unconditionally without firing a shot and then they meekly marched off to the squatter camps.

What’s often missed is that these were 2 separate countries. Transvaal and orange free state are often lumped together as “boers” but only united in times of war, the 2 even fought a war against each other. And Transvaal had a civil war. These 2 countries Deserve videos of thare own

The battle of Tirad Pass was a hard time for American soldiers to advance to the camp of Gen. Del Pilar, until one native filipino-igorot betrayed them and the cover was compromised that's why the General was killed in action.
