Welcome back to History with Seb! This video is about the War of the Golden Stool in 1900.
The War of the Golden Stool, or Yaa Asantewaa War, was a conflict in the Ashanti Empire (modern-day Ghana) in 1900. It arose when the British demanded to sit on the sacred Golden Stool, a symbol of Ashanti unity. Led by Queen Mother Yaa Asantewaa, the Ashanti resisted fiercely but were ultimately defeated by the British due to superior firepower. The war highlighted the Ashanti's determination to defend their culture and independence against colonial forces, even though they lost, and it remains a symbol of resistance against oppression.
