2012 Genesis Sedan 5.0 Rspec DIS knob replacement

I have had 4 BH sedans in the past two years. This 12' Rspec I bought last year had a DIS knob that was not working. This video shows how to replace the assembly should you have this problem. This piece was a re-conditioned piece from Korea (on ebay). It did fix my issue. Now everything is fully functional on the car.

Coolant spewing from under the engine bay cove r- Thought it was coming from spark plug after I inspected very wet area in the far left spark plug - Come to find out it was a pin size hole in radiator hose. Thank goodness.

2006 Hyundai Sonata 3.3L V6 coolant temperature gauge being quirky. Finally figured out it was most likely a short in the dash mother board. When AC is engaged, needle will sky rocket quickly to Hot. Car was not actually overheating.

This mirror was for sonata not really Elantra. They make one for Elantra ? Let me know what issues you're running into

@@rmryzou3148 actually this is an incobb mirror (aftermarket) made specifically for the NF sonata. 06-08. Not positive if it fits 09-10 but it looks like it might. They don't make them anymore unfortunately
Can you give me links for the parts? lights, body kit?
The side skirts and front lip are no longer made unfortunately (from what I have been told). But the side skirts were made by zest and front lip is ixion. Lights are home made.
Didn't realize this video is so old I didn't even have the side skirts then. Lol but that front lip unfortunately now was shattered and I have a cheap carID lip on there now. But this one was ixion and they no longer make it. 😢

Connorwilliams1319 am sorry I thought you commented on the folding mirrors lol my bad. This headlight was completely stock, I just opened them up and custom fabbed the piece that held the morimoto led strip. Also added the halo and painted the insides black etc... it's home made.
What's the wheel set up and is it lowered?
In this particular vid it is not lowered. This is an old vid. But it has been lowered on Gecko racing then switched to some coils called "MoveOn" - by M&S basically.
@hmr1979 thank you for this video! been struggling with the DIS knob in my 2012 and was wondering if it was a fuse or the knob itself. will do both as my USB/AUX ports are behaving strangely as well
@dwayne965 you're welcome..am battling currently the front power outlets not working. Someone told me it's in fuse box in engine compartment. A 20a fuse. Mine is in good though. So am not sure what it could be
What size are the halos that you have in your headlight?
How did you takeoff your knob the one that turns left and right?
My DIS knob works when I press it but it doesn’t work when I try to scroll. How did you take the knob off? I’m not trying to accidentally break it and not have it work at all
If you plan on replacing it then I would actually take off the whole assembly. The knob does pull off but you can easily break the plastic grooves that make it sit perfectly with the bottom portion.

@@hmr1979 Thanks for the video. I have 2012 Genesis 5.0 (one owner, 91K miles). Recently pushing the "DIS knob" would not clear the disclaimer screen when pressed. Obviously whatever it is connected to is now defective. As a temporary fix I pull the "DIS knob" and and if I turn the post and wiggle it the disclaimer screen clears. I'm working up the courage to attempt the fix you show. Thanks
Search for a vid on UA-cam on how to remove shifter knob for an Equus...apparently there is a way to do it without using much force...like some sort of pin lock inside it. I just used force lol

I havre an issue with the radio going to usb ok its own. No matter if on radio or cd. Its annoying. What could be causing this and is there a fix? Also, is there a way to reboot the stereo system?
You can reboot the unit by going to ENG mode and go into the audio settings portion and reboot that way. UA-cam search eng mode for BH Genesis sedan and that should pop up. It's the same setting you go into to get the Prada logo to appear upon start up.

And when it rains? Don't they get full of water?
When you start the car it goes down just like a regular mirror so rain doesn't get in it. It's just like any other car mirror, there is space in between the housing and the mirror. So yes, water can get in the cracks but it falls out. I get most water when I pressure wash the car lol we dont get rain here (TX)

Lawrence - Man I threw away the console. Would have gladly sent it to you. But honestly I think the wheel portion on it (the small mechanism the has the stud that holds the wheel) was broken also if I remember correctly. If for some reason I am mistaken and did NOT trash the piece, I will send to you. Ill follow up once I get back home.

Thecks007 - no they are after market led fogs made by mobbis for the 06-08 sonatas. You can find them on eBay. Just type in NF sonata led fog light...should pop up.

Unfortunately even the few items available for our cars are no longer in existence. That front and rear from ixion is no longer available..they don't make em anymore. I broke my front one so I had to put the carid lip for now. But I'll upload some more videos
@@hmr1979 Yes I saw that's is like from 5yrs ago lol..But thats some sick mods you did back then the car looks like it just rolling out the factory.I see there is alot of parts still available little pricey and shipping from Korea I am to impatient to deal with snail mail.I ordered a rear windshield spoiler it manage to come in just a few a days via UPS I was actually supprise thought I would have to wait a month atleast.

Hello there. I opened them up and installed morinoto led strips inside. If you search on hyundai-forums dot com the tutorial should still be on there.

Captain coast: yes sir I still have it. It's my daily driver. 245k now. I do wanna tell you the 2010 has slightly different body parts that won't interchange with the 06-08. Some fit but most don't. Front bumper / headlights / grill / for example are quite different.

Stock bumper. Aftermarket led fog lights. Ixion front bumper lip. They don't make those anymore though 😔
Very helpful! I bought my daughter a 2010, and it looks like the entire 7-button and DIS knob control center is not functioning (after replacing a 25amp fuse under the driver's side of the engine compartment to fix an issue with the acc ports). The knob and all the buttons were working fine before the fuse replacement, but looks like I may need to replace the unit. Do you mind sharing the link of the Ebay seller? Was there a single fuse or breaker that protected this assembly? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Hello there Steve. The item I purchased is "Center Control Panel OEM 96540-3M300_K Hyundai Genesis 2008-2013" if you type in that on ebay should come up with the seller ucon-tec. Looks like they're from Korea and my item came in pretty quick...I want to say within less than a week! I looked up the pre-GDi set ups and the consoles looks to be the same as mine so your 2010 so it should work. I just am not positive if this will resolve your issue but it sounds to me like it should. Mine was a non response knob. Left and right worked .but scroll didn't not. Also the enter (push down) was very finicky. The scroll was completely shot which meant all I could get to were the very top and very bottoms of each menu. Obviously this made navigation useless because I couldn't put in addresses. Worth a shot...looks like the company still has some. And I'm not really sure about the fuse..I didn't touch the fusenbox at all. Fuse issue would (if fuse indeed) cut out all power to the module...which would mean it wouldn't be lit ...wouldn't work all together.

@@stevesullivan3310 sounds good. I reread your post ...yeah if it's still getting power than I don't think the fuse replacement was the issue that broke it ..however it's odd that it happened right after you swapped out the fuse. None of the functions on the DIS assembly does not work ?
@@hmr1979 None of the functions work. Not the knob, or any of the 7 buttons. Odd, indeed.
@@stevesullivan3310 there is only one wiring harness that leads to the DIS assembly and there are two other wires which I believe were for the heated/cooling for seats. Didn't find a fuse that was anywhere inside there but I could be wrong 😸

Alex here is a write I did for it. The most difficult part is the wooden holder for the morimoto strip...im sure there is an easier way to do this especially if you had a 3d printer. how is it that your whole trunk is smooth? I have a 2007 with the 2.4, and on the trunk there is an indent for the hyundai logo
What's up maurice. You have to fill the emblem indent and basically paint to match the lid. Re clear etc... It's a process for sure. My paint guy did this about 6 yrs ago and being in the texas sun I can see the contour underneath if you look really closely in the sunlight. So might have to shoot another layer soon.

Morimoto is the one inside the headlight. The DRL led is from eBay. They should be still available for 2 bills I think. Type NF led fog light and they should pop up on ebay

I think I got the mufflers at Amazon. They're original 40 series. They're kinda loud inside so if you want something with less drone inside I'd get the delta40s
What did you use for a resonator delete
@@nikital6116 just deleted the resonator in the back (before the mufflers)... Didn't replace it with anything. Which is prolly why I have drone inside the cabin. So if you don't want the car to be loud and drony I would leave that piece on. I deleted the 3rd cat as well... And swapped all pipes to 2.5 from stock 2.25"
