Ultimate Guide to Balance Training on Precision Bars for obstacle athletes
Ready to take your balance skills to the next level? In this beginner’s guide to precision bar training, I’ll walk you through essential techniques to develop strong, stable, and controlled balance. Starting with the basics, I demonstrate how to properly position your foot on the bar, gradually building strength and stability on one leg until you can confidently balance for up to a minute.
To get started I recommend acting as if you are “dipping your toes in the water” with the foot on the ground and gradually put less weight on that foot, but use is as a “cheat” to practice weighting and balancing on the foot on the bar. Eventually you can fully weight it for the time limits mentioned in the video.
From there, we’ll explore advanced drills like forward and backward walking, turning, and even squatting and jumping on the bar.
For those looking to push their balance even further, I introduce distraction balance training, where hand-eye coordination meets balance. By catching a ball or bouncing it off walls while balancing, you’ll challenge your focus and improve your stability in dynamic situations.
This video is perfect for anyone from Ninja Warrior athletes to obstacle sports enthusiasts who want to master balance with precision. Watch now, and let’s strengthen those skills together!

Master the Cliffhanger: from beginner drills to Pro level techniques
Переглядів 59Місяць тому
If you would like to perform moves like cliffhanger 360’s or even laches onto and off of the cliffhanger - you first need to have the basic hand and upper body strength to hold onto it and feel strong enough to move. In fact you should be able to “hang on” for at least a minute or be capable of traversing at least 50 ft without feeling like you are going to fall. If you fall short in either of ...

    Zercher lunges humbled me, just 115 pounds on the bar for 3 sets of 6 had my quads, ass, and hips fired up for DAYS. I will have them in my program for the foreseeable future.

      There are tons of options on the market, I typically get mine from power systems, but there are other companies out there. They are just general Loop vans, and they come in varying resistances. Maybe one day I’ll have a link for you

      As it states in the title Andrew, we are reviewing how to get past certain roadblocks (weaknesses and fears) to help students improve lache technique. Please feel free to post a video of your “amazingness” doing a 10 ft lache to a cliffhanger so we can see how great your technique is. When you work as many students as we do and you see this pattern over and over - you will realize that 90% of people have these issues.

      No, kids like this need to get into the gym more often. Not go home, try to be a bit more of a kind person, as I’ve seen kids like this turn into pro ninjas after a few years.

    • @warriorplayground
      @warriorplayground 4 місяці тому

      No you are correct, that would be a boring clip to watch all 1000. Read the description and set your own goals. Start with 100 a day for a few weeks to see how that feels and then try it the way I did. It was not even that bad. I waited 35 years to even try it because in the back of my mind, no matter how fit I was, I thought it was not achievable - I was very wrong.

    What kind of iron pipe did you use? Did you have to finish or paint it? Thanks!

    • @warriorplayground
      @warriorplayground 4 місяці тому

      The specifics of steel tubing or “pipe” is not as important as the wall thickness for strength combined with the total length of pipe between supports. We typically use 1.5 OD up to 1.9. However small hands have a hard time holding. I would highly recommend max 1.5 if it is for kiddos to laches. If it is for supports and slipping obstacles onto the pipe 1.5-1.9 is great. Many use schedule 40 pipe

    Thank you for clarifying. Although there may seem like some differences in opinion on this subject, many experts have come to agree with the philosophy of training through various modalities and ROMs to help the knees to adapt and become more fortified against injury. This includes more extreme ranges, knees over toes, knee flexion with some rotation… simply check out the concepts by the knees of toes camp.

    Knee above the ankle

    • @warriorplayground
      @warriorplayground 4 місяці тому

      Yes our knees should always be above our ankles, that may be a strange malformation if they are below - lol But if you meant to say “in front of?” That too, is ok & is a good way to train through full range of motion.

    • @tavismacdonald7759
      @tavismacdonald7759 4 місяці тому

      @warriorplayground no when you're doing stuff like that or say lunges the knee stays above the ankle. It doesn't go past you can get injuries that way. At least I've read and heard that many times.

      No, the goal is not a muscle up. The goal is to pull your hips to the bar. Start with chest, then belly, then hips as you get stronger. Muscle ups are great. These are different
